it's ESL ranking not HLTV, they're on the list only because they won the major

The ranking would come from the major and placements in tournaments earlier in 2018, not from tournaments in 2017 and 2016

vp 2014-2017 won a major and way more than 6 events and way longer period of top 3/top 5 play astralis 2017 in a small amount of time won kato + ecs + major and continued with many top 4s which i think is better than kato + starladder + fragbite + faceit finals + ESL expo + EPL, 2 of those arent even big events and they fell off the map basically after IEM kato envy also won a major and more total events with longer period of top 3/top 5 play

c9 were #1? lol
2019-12-03 05:35
When c9 won Boston major. They were also getting solid placings prior to the major, so that probably is why they got a #1 ranking as opposed to Gambit who was never #1 despite winning that PGL major.

ppl never talk about how c9 was #4 going into the major, but they beat the top 3 teams in G2, SK, and FaZe, gambit was probably hovering around top 10 going into the major and IMT even lower
2019-12-03 05:56
Yeah, people always rate c9 lower because of their piss poor performance in the group stages, but they were already looking very good coming into the major. I think coming in I had them as like my second favourites to win the major, behind faze
2019-12-03 06:03
SK was still insane back then, no?

Actually C9 was top 5 and they beat all of the teams above them, they eliminated Astralis in the Group Stage (Top3), G2 in Quarter-Finals (Top4), SK in Semis (Top1) and FaZe in the final (Top2), even with SK playing with Felps we can't take their merit, C9 deserved the win. :)

ESL did this list a long time after their 2012-13 era
2019-12-03 05:57
I can't look at that and know esl. If you make a list after an era, wouldn't it mean they know that part of history. I do not understand what you are saying.

i'm just saying that esl made their ranking and was keeping track of stats way after nip's era

still, no other team has been that dominant. It's not like every other team sucked when they played. It was a new game, same prerequisites for everyone.
