He hasn't been fined though, he's being taken to court in a civil suit, in which he almost certainly won't be convicted.
2019-12-03 21:08
It has nothing to do with freedom of speech.
2019-12-03 20:32
> "the power or right to express one's opinions without censorship, restraint, or legal penalty" ?
2019-12-03 20:48
Still it doesn't give you the right to talk bullshit about people without proving it.
2019-12-03 20:50
Nice freedom of speech.

There is a crime called slander
2019-12-03 21:01
Saying your opinion about other people is now slander?

I can call a guy ugly, but i cant call him a pedo which is a very big crime and can put a person on sexual offenders list or list that they cant be around kids, considering that astralis is big brained and best team i thought their country citizens were smart too
2019-12-03 21:26

Complete freedom of speech was never really a thing in the modern world. And most likely wont. But that is not particularly a bad thing

Finland Miroyev
It's never been legal to publicly say something like that without them being proven guilty
2019-12-03 21:01
defamation is completely different lol
2019-12-03 21:00
USA does not have freedom of speech.
2019-12-03 21:02

2019-12-03 21:10
Freedom of speech has it's limits, even in the USA
2019-12-03 20:51
Limited freedom of speech is not freedom of speech.

No country has true freedom of speech in that sense; every country has varying degrees of freedom of speech.
2019-12-03 21:03
No country has freedom of speech then

Spreading false information about an individual is the only example where I can accept there is no freedom of speech. Discrimination and blasphemy laws are just dumb and should of course not exist.

In order to be convicted of slander, you have to prove that the person lied about you to defame your character, and did so knowing that what they were saying was a lie. Because of that second requirement, slander is a notoriously difficult crime to prove. It's extremely unlikely that he'll be convicted of any crime.

So a social media person with a huge following for example (not specifically Elon Musk) can call a no namer a pedophile etc potentially causing damages to his business, family life etc and that should be protected as free speech? It could even be interpreted as a call to action due to the conatations

theres a difference between free speech and defamation. Now fuck off MIBR_IS_OVERRATED.
