#10 in rankings

The difference between the actual #8 Nip and the actual #14 Navi is 100 points, we know that Mouz and Navi gonna jump into top 10, and Nip will drop to #10 but I don't know if there is any chances that MiBR picks the 10th spot because of Nip losing some points and MiBR will gain some after the poor results in EPL If someone understands how the math of the rankings work perfectly, can you explain me if there is a chance?

They both go down

You don't lose points due to results. You only lose points because of time decay Did MIBR win any matches this week they will most likely gain more points than the decay

You can lose points to results, form is in consideration
2019-12-09 14:00
Form is shown as how you did in the past 10 events. So it is a time based decay
2019-12-09 14:04
form ranking has no decay at all, it just looks at all matches past 2 months
2019-12-09 14:37
But then it is a decay after 2 months
2019-12-09 15:28
Reread the calculations. You might be right. But the form algorithm is most likely the toughest one to predict.

Ofc, because its based on more random details. Results is much easier to understand

Gonna look more into it when I got time

They only won vs FaZe in epl finals, which Nip didn't attend.

Then the placement in EPL and that match will give them points. Considering that it is a large LAN event I guess it is quite many points.

The difference between the 2 is 66 points, so I guess that's sufficient for MiBR to get the 10th spot, thanks men
2019-12-09 14:17
Might be I am not 100% sure about the exact calculations since it isn't public
2019-12-09 14:18
maybe also take into account that they may also lose old points
2019-12-09 14:41
ofc you can lose points, just look at last week almost everyone lost points because astralis got back to 1000 points which scales everyone else down
2019-12-09 14:39
They lost points due to decay from an earlier event
2019-12-09 15:29
no they lost points because astralis reached the 1000 points limit and everyone else hence gets scaled down
2019-12-09 16:06
2019-12-09 16:07
but yes for a specific result at a event(e.g. going last place) you don't get punished directly i guess (indirectly through form ranking obviously in the end)
2019-12-09 14:42
when they put out the rankings, every week, they provide a link to explain how they come up with them. There's several factors going into them.

Oh thanks man, gonna look for that
2019-12-09 15:16
Maybe it's the monthly rankings where they provide a link. Here's the general statement they put at the bottom of each weekly ranking: How is the ranking calculated? The world ranking is based on teams' achievements over the past year (with severe decay in points throughout each month), recent form over the last 2 months and performance at the last 10 LAN events. All of that is predicated around a 3-man core each team is required to have in order to retain their past points. Online matches and tournaments are included, but with a diminishing factor which means they cannot make a big difference among the top teams, and mainly serve to put new teams on the map.

Yeah, I saw it, sadly they don't show us how the math works 100% so we can make some predictions and etc
2019-12-09 15:32
+1 Agreed. Still, a person can come pretty close. If a team wins a bigger event, they'll gain 200-300 points. Some of it is subjective based on look, but overall it seems to be a 'fairly' accurate representation of teams.
2019-12-09 16:21
Mibr in top 20 already? Gosh they grow up
2019-12-09 14:21
They will be out of top20 soon
2019-12-09 14:23
MIBR now top 5 I think
2019-12-09 14:24
nip wont lose points
2019-12-09 14:26
I think mibr will pass both avangar and ence which will carry them to #10 position but navi is behind mibr and i am almost certain that they will pass mibr and that will move them to #11 position. As a result, no, i don't think they will make it to top 10 team.
