I highly highly disagree with major winning C9 being a better Squad then NRG/EG. In fact I think you have the EG group like 5-7 spots too low. Think they are probably right around 2017 Faze and SK. I also think that the scene generally gets better every year though. 2019 Liquid would crush 2014/15 LDLC for example (IMO). But you clearly put some thought into this and I can't really disagree from a historical perspective with much.
2019-12-13 23:59
I planned to put them higher first but their run after StarLadder was too bad. I am pretty sure they will be way better in 2020 and will get their high spot then. I also dont think C9 was better than EG but in the end I had to value the major and the decent form they had before/after the major a bit more.

Fair enough. It's good effort dude. I know you probably just made this for fun but you should try posting this stuff with little blurbs somewhere it'll be taken seriously. Some lineups in there I had totally forgotten about. 8/8.
2019-12-14 00:15
I disagree, this roster has only won 2 big events, 0 finals, and a few top 4's and several group exits. they need more time before they can be better than that C9 roster that won a major and before was consistently a top 5 team making semi's and winning a few small events before the major, and after they still made a final and a few playoffs. theyre spot is valid imo

Well part of my argument hinges on the fact that NRG have been hovering top five for almost two years now. Their wins at New York and Star Series are still pretty recent developments. I would have put the old Daps NRG squad above C9 if I'm being honest. I just mean in terms of talent and consistency. Even if you didn't expect them to win a tournament they always finished top 4 or top 8 at almost everything they attended. That C9 did have a little run going up to the major but the squad really wasn't together that long and didn't have a true carry like EG has. But fair enough. Major is a major is a major. I know how the community feels about them even if I feel different.
2019-12-14 00:27
Yeah but we are talking about a single roster and I agree that the old daps nrg should be on the list but the lack of a big event win means they shouldnt be above C9, maybe 25-30 range
2019-12-14 00:32
and they did have a carry, autimatic was banging people out and Stewie Tarik or RUSH at any given moment could just go godmode for a tournament. Not even mentioning skadoodles performance at the major where he literally went god tier in the playoffs and carried them so hard I thought it was 2015 again
2019-12-14 00:33

United States jay_320
That's kind of what I meant though. They all over-performed. Even Autimatic who is probably the closest player from that roster to a carry. Meanwhile Ethan/Cerq and Brehze are running 1.14+ ratings for a year and a half. But I do get it and I love that C9 team. I just think the underlying NRG core has much more in the tank long term. This is a list for now though.
2019-12-14 00:51
same, I love that core from NRG, and if were going by best cores i think they would be decently high
2019-12-14 09:39
There is no way this specific lineup with stan should be higher up,all they've done is win 2 events and a major semi, thats it

With the way the game has evolved, present-day Liquid would absolutely smash 2012-14 teams like NiP, Fnatic, LDLC, etc.

Present day liquid got smsshed by mouse who was jackshit until November. Another team in 2025 can smash this astralis easily. But it won't make them greater than astralis until they dominate 2025 better than astralis did now.

NaVi 2015-16 a bit higher imo, even though they didnt win a major they still made 2 finals and won a ton of events and were a consistent threat for their entire existence until guardians injury and even then they were still good
2019-12-14 00:30

2019-12-14 00:51
TSM 2015 was much different from 2014 dignitas (beginnings) and 2016 ?/Astralis (aka chokestralis and first time they dropped off top 5) 2015 TSM was ahead in h2h vs fnatic for majority of the year difference was TSM lost to envyus/NIP while fnatic destroyed envyus
2019-12-14 00:54
karrigan joined dignitas in 2014 right before they signed to TSM and played with them through ? until astralis when he got cut in mid 2016 same roster the whole time

EnvyUS with kennyS and apEX were better than the one with Shox and Smithzz. The field became far more competitive in 2015 and they still managed to overthrow Fnatic. They should be at #6 instead of the 2014 lineup. Also, Fnatic with Olof and Pronax should be #2 behind only Astralis. NaVi 2012 should be lower. G2 2017 should be higher. At least #15 One last thing, in what universe can that Dignitas lineup be #14? Top 30 at best.

i mean dignitas + tsm and stuff idk french cs never worked imo, only dominant team was ldlc fnatic could be #2 but i think SK was way more dominant navi 2012 is iconic and i counted their lineup from cs 1.6 that haven't changed.

Current mouz lineup completely sucked for 9 months of the year and now after 9 months of sucking they started to play something, but it won't last long. 2017-18 mouz was consistantly in top 5 for most of the time, current lineup is in top 5 for first time after 9 months lol. No doubt the old line-up was better..

I think its funny how you totally overrate every big lineup kennyS participated in while downplaying the best french CS:GO lineup of all time.
2019-12-14 14:00
That lineup didn't really dominate either. Shox and smithzz in 2014<kenny and apex 2015. Also, LDLC were good during a time where nip went to shit and fnatic didn't really become the dominant force we saw later.

How can SK with boltz be worse than Faze 2017 if after he joined they won every match against Faze and won 3 of 4 big events...

What you wanna show with this? That Faze line up had more time to work? That line up worked amazing at 2017 and in 2018 they played litteraly 3 tournaments togheter until Taco was Kicked/choose to leave. It's a fact that SK with Boltz at 2017 was better than Faze, remember who took Faze's top 1? By that time the joke was Rain low Budget Fer, Niko low budget Coldzera, Guardian low Budget FalleN, etc.
2019-12-14 16:18
Yes, SK with boltz was better than FaZe - for 1 and a half months. From EPICENTER 2017 until EPL S6. FaZe had more time and also did way more, SK was pretty bad compared to FaZe in the second half of SK-bolts lifespan. Overall, that SK lineup was just good for 1 1/2 months and then went to shit. There is no way I can put them above FaZe.

Ok i understand your point, but you need context, from october until january SK was the best team, but they had to train with felps because of Major Rules, this fucked up their schedule and start of the year, you think if they had Boltz they wouldn't win the major? If with Felps they got at semifinals, imagine with boltz... Also, Taco left the team in march, just 1 month after their first tournament togheter in 2018 because of his unbelivable shit form at the time... SK was better until february when Taco started playing really bad and even tho the Faze was arguably best on Feb and March, they also didn't win anything...
2019-12-14 16:40
Effecitvely SK was only the best team from end of October to mid December because after EPL S6 and in January there were no tournaments. Maybe SK with boltz would have won the major but I cant award them a win which never happened. Given their form after the major who even says that they would have won for sure? Your TACO argument doesnt work out since in theory the following SK(/mibr) lineup should have been on the list aswell then if TACO was simply that bad. But the following lineup was even worse than the 2018-half of SKs boltz lineup. Yes SK was better than FaZe when they were still winning tournaments. But FaZe with that lineup already existed before boltz joined SK and after boltz left SK. FaZe may didnt win much but I value final, semifinal, etc appearances aswell (which is also why SK with fnx is way higher than the other two SK lineups).

Well, even tho the lineup was shit in 2018, from 8 tournaments they played they won 3, placed in semifinal on 2, i think this is a nice % of success compared to Faze Clan. Also, they winning the major or not was not the most imporant thing but losing all january month due Major rules was the problem. Of course my TACO point makes sense, it's just that is also the start of their down heel, picking Stewie and fucking Boltz because of his english, making a "international" team without your main Star, Coldzera, being able to communicate at high level, kick the two american when they started to look like a team, etc. The rest is already well know. What fucked their lineup was no Boltz for january, Taco big slump and adding Stewie without everyone being capable of communicate on english, but we will stay here forever, so let's just agree to disagree.
2019-12-14 17:02
One of the events they won was a blast tournament. One of the semi final tournaments was cs_summit 2 which doesnt help much. You cant count every tournament the same. Some tournaments have shit formats, not enough top teams attending etc etc. You have to look at each tournament individually and then say how good the performance of team X was there. Thats why comparison with % between lineups do not work. Yes the lineup was most likely fucked by the major but I cant rank them higher for things they didnt do. I can only count the events they played. Thats why I ranked them at the place where they are. FaZe simply did way more.
2019-12-14 17:18
simple should be atleast top 10
2019-12-14 14:47
i think that aboth sk llineups should be 1+ they were winning everything , they faze and ast were the most how can i say important teams maybe

How did you measure the strength/greatness of the lineups? My top 20 list (and seemingly my top 30) looks very different from this, and I don't see the pattern which would explain even half of the differences. For example, what makes Astralis 2016-2018 top 8 and G2 2017-2018 top 20?
