Blast 2020 orgs bought spots?
 |
Europe I_LIKE_BRAZILIANS
Can anyone explain why teams like OG, coL or mibr are in BLAST 2020 ? Where is fnatic or mouse? BLAST disgusting once again, how much did orgs pay them?

Fnatic and Mouz declined their invites?
2019-12-14 12:31
Doubt it. Have you seen the prize pool?

I don't think they did bro. Why would them act different from Liquid/Astralis etc. ?
2019-12-14 13:16
partner teams
2019-12-14 12:32
pretty sure blast are paying the teams because of competition. tbh blast has been the worst thing to happen to the csgo scene since r8
2019-12-14 12:34
sure but wouldn't it be better for blast to pay successful orgs/teams. Makes no sense to get for example OG or coL but not fnatic.
2019-12-14 12:36
maybe they declined... "sure but wouldn't it be better for blast to pay successful orgs/teams" they have 8 teams from top10
2019-12-14 12:50
+1, if the event format doesnt change this is gonna suck real bad. Cuz it lacks a lot in competitiveness the BLAST format. And that many said NO to a Valve league or something more prestigious "cuz we have open circuit we dont need them, and will ruin our circuit" btw.. XD.
2019-12-14 12:39
iirc the format is changing to bO3s and shit
2019-12-14 13:06
the bigger issue is that this is basically exclusivity and we are missing many top teams from that list. Fucking hope this blast dogshit goes under. They ruined the AST era, and a part of 2018/19
2019-12-14 13:20
its all about partnership, contracts, money, thats just business things, maybe fnatic mouz didnt agree to sign something or didnt pay enough to enter. i guess u didnt know it but only blast contracted teams played at blast and sometimes there were wild card invites if some of contrActed teams couldnt attend
2019-12-14 12:39
+1 thats what i thought
2019-12-14 12:40
twitter.com/launders/status/120581410797.. I guess there will be a qualifier for each blast event

There should never be partnerships or entrance fees for competitive tournaments. It undermines the competitive integrity of the game and encourages cronyism. The best 12 teams in the world should be attending, not 12 pre-selected partners who could have trash tier lineups this time next year.
2019-12-14 12:46
yes, but blast has been like that since start, they are all about money, idk why everyone is surprised, after Global Final in "Bahrain" which they call a great place to host an event, they are just lying straight forward to people and getting that oil money, u can expect anything from blast

I'm not surprised at all... but if fans stop criticising them then there's the danger other TOs will think the business model / format is embraced by the community, and they'll all copy it.

I don't know, I could understand mouz but fnatic is surely bigger than nip and mibr, even if you only care about money and fans and not teams results I expected COL and OG, actually I was even expecting GenG instead of MIBR

mibr brings them viewers
2019-12-14 12:42
Thats very true, they are shit but have a huge fanbase in brazil. I kinda understand the mibr invite for the viewership but you cant tell me that OG or coL have bigger fanbases than fnatic/mouz.

Its cuz they are new teams and many ppl want to see them play I dont like it but it will be funny to see OG get 0-16 by Astralis
2019-12-14 12:45
People are curious for the first few matches and we already have seen OG play for example. More people watch fnatic play vs Astralis because they can make it close. The viewership argument only works for mibr.

I understand MiBR and NiP to a certain degree, but COL and OG over Fnatic and Mouz? I think its safe to say they have way bigger fan bases, probably enough money to buy in and the availability next year especially due to the prestige these tournaments now hold. Hope information is given soon cos this is crazy

Its all about money of course, orgs can buy these spots, BLAST is allowed to completely buy up the competitive scene of cs and destroy not only the integrity of the ranking but also the big events circuit because you will have same as early 2019, all events that used to be amazing big events will all be shit because half the top teams are forced to miss it for fucking BLAST, same as this year there wiwll only be like 1 or 2 events where all good teams actually show up, terrible for cs players, terrible for cs viewers, all players and teams involved should be ashamed to work with such money hungry assholes as blast. Faith in cs has been lost
2019-12-14 12:56
What did you people not understand? "BLAST has announced all 12 partnered teams" This is how BLAST works. You become a partner and sell your soul to this organizer and thus is required to participate and play in X amount of BLAST tournaments throughout the year, which we ALL know there will be quite alot of them. Some teams like NiP try their hardest at every BLAST tournament because thats really the only tournament they have a chance in. Other teams like Astralis don't give a fuck and is satisfied with collecting enough points to become top4 overall. I don't think this will change during 2020 no matter how much money they throw into it. As a viewer however, I do enjoy BLAST, but I can definitely understand how a team like fnatic can decline their spot because they want to focus 200% on qualifying for the major and get back to where they belong.

What people dont like is the direction CSGO esports scene is taking. Who knows what agreements they agreed on? Remember when Liquid pulled off Cologne 2019 because they had a BLAST tournament to attend and then eventually BLAST allowed them to play in Cologne closed quali just because of the reaction of the community that started hating them even more? BLAST is all about money and defending the business of their partners. Imagine if CoL and OG lineups will be a massive flops and they will still have the spot in their tournaments over teams that are actually good, just like Cloud9 did this year. Cloud9 won 2 games and lost 16 in 2019 at BLAST events and they still intived them to the next ones just because they were their partners. I just cant watch BLAST, it feels wrong and even if Astralis and Liquid will give the best show in 2019 in the final, i will still prefer to watch fucking cs_summit over that shit.

fnatic and mousesports are two of the most notable omissions from the partnered list, but the organizers have stressed that the 12 partnered teams will not be the only ones participating in BLAST tournaments throughout the year. WHY CAN'T PEOPLE FUCKING READ

Do you know how this is gonna look like? They will make an event in, lets say, Spain. They will make an closed quali for teams only from Spain to get more people in the arena. Voilà, you have one team that is not a partner in the tournament. You for sure wonder, how do i know this will happen? I can tell you - because they already did it in 2018 and 2019.
2019-12-14 13:20
CompLexity and OG both have undeserved spots, of course they paid for it
2019-12-14 13:09
Teams can play in BLAST Showdowns and from there they can attend Spring/Fall finals if they qualify and the Global final.
