For full indepth look at the stats I used, look at the spreadsheet I made of all the most important stats
the list I came to:
1. ZywOo - Solidly wins in a ton of categories and he does vs well vs Top5.
2. device - The most complete player, but ZywOo's better overall stats make him 2nd
3. ElIGE - tons of MVP's and EVP's and most LAN wins out of anyone puts him up here along with stats
4. s1mple - I want him to be higher, I really do, but ElIGE beats him with 2 more MVPs and double the EVP's to make up for the rating difference
5. Magisk - toss up between him and NAF, gave it to him in the end because he has an amazing major rating
6. NAF-FLY - almost top 5. But his lackluster major rating really hurts him here.
7. electronic - statisically very impressive but his lack of MVP's, EVP's, and playoff appearances cost him
8. Brehze - solid stats overall and a crazy high major rating put him up to 8
9. Twistzz - him and NiKo are a tossup. But the fact is liquid was more revelavant than FaZe so even tho NiKo has better stats, ill give it to Twistzz
10. NiKo - like i said, could have been 9, but FaZe wasn't as relevant as liquid. But he has great stats and 2 MVP's to put him top 10
11. dupreeh - Dupreeh is above ropz and woxic because Astralis was a more relevant team, and he has a wayy better major rating than the two, and better opening stats
12. ropz - amazing stats, but lower maps played than most. Still top 12 so hes still really good
13. woxic - same can be said for woxic here, just his MVP was at a smaller event than ropz's
14. sergej - amazing first half of the year, decent second, just better stats than the rest here.
15. Xyp9x - very bad impact and opening stats, but his 6 EVP's and great major ratings put him higher than jks
16. jks - great stats, especially LAN stats, but he has 3 EVP's compared to Xyp's 6 so hes 16th
17. CeRq - originally i had him 19, but his opening kill stats are absolutely insane so he gets put up a bit
18. Brollan - No major appearance (or stats) hurt him here, but his other stats are very good so he lands here.
19. Ethan - lowest big event rating, and very inconsistent, but he has a MVP so he makes it
20. KRIMZ - He just doesn't have good enough stats to be any higher, plus no major stats at all so that bumps him down a bit.

as if stats are the only thing that matters, someone like s0mple is padding his stats against lower tiers and gets absolutely BLASTED against mid / high tier teams. smh

Ofc i do, i've watched every toarnament this year.

If it wasn't for blast navi wouldnt have played any good team this whole year deal with it.
Zywoo can carry Vitality but S1mple can't carry navi with electronic WTF? come on.

That's what also will hurt s1mple ranking this year. Na'vi played very little tournaments compared to others. Even s1mple profile says his past 3 month activity is ''low''. (30-40 maps) compared to like Chrisj with 90+ maps for example.
I wonder what year it would have been if s1mple/na'vi were more active in the (big) tournaments.

lower than who? electronic? it is a possibility, but the fact of the matter in this case is 2 MVP's vs 0 and 9 EVP's vs 2. Electronic's rating doesn't make up for this.

Not good enough, mousesports wasn't that good in the first half of the year.
I mean, as a fanboy of NA CS, I really want elige to be higher than device, but... Yeah, I think 2 and 3 can be swapped. No big deal.

I find it hard to place EliGE over device this year. EliGE over s1mple is very acceptable though considering he has more MVPs and almost double the EVPs, as well as more playoff games to go off of.

+1, I love s1mple as a player and he is incredible, but the fact of the matter is NaVi did almost jack shit this year so it really does hurt him.
Edit: lol i just realised this is a 2019 thread hahaha....i was so confused, i commented after seeing the top 5 and then i looked down and i was like wtf ropz 12th? No heroic player? So many NA players?

they are super close. I just think that device's Major MVP is worth about 1 MVP and 2 EVP's. Plus he beats elige in rating and a few other stats.

I think they are not close at all.
Earlier this year they were... EliGe was probably even ahead... but not anymore.
Try for example to compare major stats. I know it's just one example, but there aren't really anything weighing heavily in EliGe's favour. Or if there is, I missed it... xD
I think s1mple/EliGe is gonna be close.

Brollan vs KRIMZ is a weird one, KRIMZ has a higher rating by .01, but Brollan's impact is double (1.08 KRIMZ, 1.16 for brollan). whatever you value more.

it should IMO, because in my list tiebreakerss are decided usually by the majors stats. (Magisk vs NAF for example) so it should be considered.
And yeah I mean its just my opinion, KRIMZ has better KPR and ADR. (just slightly) than Brollan in the end.

yeah, not many EVP's, just 2. and they are at the very end so its not like hes been consistent all year long. But he is close, next year for sure if he keeps up the good performances
one of the best if not the best list. too bad that you dont have play off rating there which is also really important(s1mple 2017) but it wouldnt change much i guess. someone even calculated it by himself:

I was actually going to switch NAF and Magisk. But the issue is that NAF barely wins or is equal to magisk in so many categories. and then Magisk has a monster Major rating and NAF's is barely average. Tipped him over the edge

yeah its a really close one. NAF's MVP's are equal to magisk's major MVP and the stats are super close there.
also, in the playoff rating you showed me, Magisk was way above NAF there, could be a factor.
I wouldn't be surprised if the final list is switched.

Lol, misinterpreted. what you said. ZywOo is way more of a rookie than Cold was. and he had way better stats. Very impressive from the man.
if he wins a major or two, gets a major MVP, and has top 5 teams for most of his career. He could become one of the Greats if he keeps up this performance level for the coming years. He's only 19 or something, it took s1mple to get to 21 to reach his peak.

I also put into consideration that Elige has double the EVP's and 2 more MVP's than s1mple. Which make up for the rating
but in my opinion s1mple and ZywOo are the most skilled players in the world they are so ahead of everyone else. its just this list is overall individual achievements + stats = best players.

bad start with katowice but then not a single event below 1.10 rating till berlin with numbers like 1.24, 1.23, 1.40 and 1.31

I think people sleep on NiKo this year. first 3-4 months he was absolutely GOD like. and if you looked at the spreadsheet stats, you can see his stats are still amazing, his impact is ridiculous. he would have been higher had FaZe had a better year.
CeRq and Ethan dont have many EVP's compared to the others, or dont have as good stats. CeRq could squeeze a little higher, but if Ethan didnt have the MVP he has, he wouldn't have made the list IMO

i rate the EVP's and MVP's very highly, and the fact is that s1mple and electronic have almost none compared to the likes of NAF, EliGE, and even Brehze, but their stats carry them to where they are in the list
but i would agree s1mple is a top 2 player skillwise and solely statistically wise.

That’s why device is #2...
But the reason why ZywOo is 1 is because there are 2 majors and 15 big events. zywoo has a huge rating lead over device in all categories except the major and even then has a better opening kill rating than device. Not to mention having more MVPs and the same amount of EVPs

KEKW, everyone almost included 2019's top 20 players to their list. This fu*king online series changed everything. You will not see many players from TL, Astralis and Navi in top 20 this year. It will be just full of onliners who are not known last year. ONLINERS, who has not won a single LAN trophy.
