Finland ToxicDUD
Roughly 30,000 gun deaths a year, half are suicides, so about 15,000 from gun violence, half of those are a result of gang violence, so about 7,500 which is a good percent of those are accidents. Based on a study done by the CDC any where from 500. 000 to 3.000.000 people are saved by firearm use every year. 88.8 people per 100 own a firearm that is first in gun ownership rate among other countries. The Highest Intentional Homicide rate per 100,000 residents is Honduras with 91. 6. America has 4. 8. Analysis by the FBI revealed that states that adopted concealed carry laws have reduced murder rates by 8.5%. rapes by 5%, aggregated assaults by 7%, and robberies by 3%. In 1982, Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law requiring the head of a household to keep at least one firearm. The residential burglary rate subsequently dropped 89%. the stats say that they don't

Violent crime still happens just civilians are powerless here Acts of terrorism and violent crime still happen over here All cops in some euro countries are carrying and I've heard a lot of news stories about police in euro countries getting their gun taken and shootings occur. Difference in America is if someone tried to stab someone else chances are they'd just be shot and killed by a manner of closed carry civvies Here you can only run

Not really my neighbourhood. I keep my belief that polish/japanese gun laws are the best possible - cops have natural law for carrying guns, every human being can buy and have it as long as they: - are adult - make regular psychotests - have clean crime index - have legit reason to buy and carry them - have special place to keep it safe at home - have shooting range certificate If you feel really unsafe - you can wield gun. If you feel little unsafe - you can choose cheaper alternative like pepper spray. IMO best of two world.

I'v never heard about any gun attack in my country honestly so I consider it as super rare event - you don't protect your chest from falling asteroid, you know. In case of mugging - I'm 185cm male with quite big arms so I have couple of choices - if someone is driven by drugs, I can always overtalk him. If I know that I will have to go to ghetto or I may feel unsafe - I carry either 40ml of pepper spray in smol can or my Stattrack Butterfly Crimson Web FT which is nice cause I don't even have to use it - I just "unfold" it and all people around suddenly calm down. However I never carry any of these on everyday walk, I just don't feel that anyone could attack me for any reason. You can talk about women now - even if they are ripped, it's still easier to attack female. In past 5 years martial arts around women started to be really popular, to the point that half of my female freind know Krav maga now. It's also work of common senes - no woman would ever go to ghetto without any preparation, escort nor reason.

Some Euro countries allow arms for self defence
2020-01-14 12:36
sweden barley allows self defense if they think that you went "too far" when defending ur self then u can get charged for assault even if the same person broke into your home tried to rape you or whatever
2020-01-14 12:55
And yet most developed EU countries have a 5 times lower homicide rate than the US

The rate is easier to manipulate when your samplesize is much lower and on top of that, the safest European countries are VERY homogenous, if you had anywhere near the level of diversity that U.S has you'd be sooooo much worse.

2020-01-15 15:26
True. Glad to see someone from Europe defending the second most important amendment we have. That being said, the number of crimes stopped is debatable. While the CDC found around 500,000 crimes are stopped with guns annually, a Harvard study found closer to 70,000. Of course the process in each was different. Harvard just used reported crimes while the CDC used a survey and determined from there. I also find it odd that Chicago has banned almost all firearms and now their crime is through the roof. And that California is the state with the strictest gun laws yet they have such a high crime rate in comparison to the rest of the country as well. It's almost like criminals don't follow the law... Amazing isn't it.

Didnt work 50 years and now we see effects. Then again In 1982, Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law requiring the head of a household to keep at least one firearm. The residential burglary rate subsequently dropped 89%.
2020-01-14 13:29
We arent talking about Georgia, we are talking about detroit Ofc gun laws arent going to solve detroits problem, but its better than allowing crims to access guns legally.
2020-01-14 13:31
Yeah it's crazy. It's almost like criminals don't follow the law anyways and their gun bans just took away people's right to defend themselves...
2020-01-14 13:32
No but it stops the flow of legal guns from gun shops going to crims, its better than doing nothing The real problem with detroit is the population and poverty. While dont deny the right, law biding and crims shooting each other isnt going to solve anything
2020-01-14 13:35
Law abiding still has the right to bear arms and defend themselves Michigan's Stand Your Ground Law of Self Defense. "In Michigan, you may use deadly force, with no duty to retreat, if you have an honest and reasonable belief that such force is necessary to prevent the imminent death, great bodily harm or sexual assault to yourself or to another individual"
2020-01-14 13:37
Stand your ground laws are the most logical things to implement into any country. And that's just what I was saying, law abiding people follow the law, and don't have guns. Criminals don't follow the law and shoot law abiding people. it's a simple calculus.
2020-01-14 13:44
Yes but its better if crims have harder access to legal guns Illegal guns are harder to get
2020-01-15 00:44
Criminals don't follow the law anyways. Buy backs are literally just taking people's rights. Make it harder for criminals and you make it harder for law abiding citizens
2020-01-15 02:46
I never said anything about buybacks, i am pro gun, im just not an idiot Buying guns legally its easier and cheaper for crims if the law was relaxed. Detroit gun law stops the flow from legsl to crims and ensures they only get them illegally, and illegal guns on black market tend to be REALLY EXPENSIVE
2020-01-15 22:05
That may make sense in some areas, but I don't think restricting people's ability to protect their own life is worth it. Besides, the US has 3 guns in circulation for every person. You can't restrict that very effectively. Guns on the secondary market in the US are very reasonably priced. It wouldn't be hard for criminals to get them despite higher restrictions.
2020-01-15 23:05
The law isnt denying anyones right to keep and bear arms. Its just ensuring only law abiding get them legally in a city flooded with crims. Aside from that, the US has 300,000 unregistered guns in circulation, the country has a gun problem that will never be solved. Again im pro gun, but im not going to be ignorant on purpose. Detroit has tough laws because their city has very high crime and poverty levels. No it isnt going to stop everything but it will help ensure only law abiding get guns legally
