Well his goal didn't mean anything since the game was already decided but I will always remember it as well. Just like I remember the tears of all the people around me while watching it (was public viewing with like 1000 people). Literally all of the 2006 World Cup will never be forgotten by me. I met and spoke with so many people from all around the world which was very interesting and we had an amazing time with all those nationalities in our city.

fun fact, I was actually in Hamburg Germany at that time, my dad used to work in Germany, i speak fluent german. it really was painful to see all the germans at that time, the hype that the world cup had, all the flags on the cars, everything just looked like it was meant to be the title for germany, but pirlos pass to grosso crushed it. heartbreaking!

Awesome time to visit Germany! Yea, heartbreaking indeed. But it was the begin of something big that should have ended in 2010 WC win (if it wasnt for the retard Jogi Löw who put fucking Trochowski in the starting line up instead of young Toni Kroos in semis vs spain). Well anyway, Lahm, Schweinsteiger etc made up for our idiot coach 4 years later, so it doesnt matter that much anymore.

yea i agree, you guys completely dominated around 2014, and even though almost all of the legends aren't in the team anymore, german football looks pretty solid if you ask me. i hope werner starts to play as good for national team as he does with RB, the guy looks really promising.

Yea we'll see. I have little hope that we can achieve anything with this Coach in the near future. He wasn't needed in 2014 etc since we had these great characters in the team who would manage it by themselves, but after they retired it clearly shows that we miss a real leader. And since there is non on the pitch we would at least need one at the line, but Löw is nothing like that. Dont even know how people can take him serious. For sure I hope that Germany will be good again soon but I have big doubts it can happen with Löw.

Are there any alternatives to Löw at this point? all good german coaches are under contract iirc. Klopp would obviously be the absolute perfect fit, but clearly won't happen any time soon. Even Nagelsmann or Tuchel would probably be great, but they are both quite young and probably not interested in coaching just "part time".

-historically, football. it basically was my only real interest in this world from age 0 to 16. like most europeans grew up playing and watching it. -hockey, 2nd biggest sport in sweden. grew up playing hockey as well, only organized for like two or three years but a lot with friends as well. i've always been quite up to date with the nhl, followed the wild very closely for like 3 seasons. -have watched 90% of all f1 races since 2009 or so. definitely my 2nd most followed sport -played tennis actively for a few years when i was younger, still get together with a friend to play once a month. don't really enjoy watching it unless it's a grand slam final, but still my tennis knowledge is adequate. -nba has really taken over my life in the last two years and consumes like 50% of my free time. fell in love last year's playoffs. -not too sold on the nhl but still always watch when vikings play. fun as hell to play tho -watch ufc whenever gus fights or if it's european time friendly -biggets of all, my local team (primarily football). been to about 200 games, i never miss a home game, and i travel for away games. by far my biggest passion in this world. sports really consume 100% of my free time. whenever i can't watch athletes compete or i can't compete myself i just lose all interest in life

well that's impressive. i wish i had a hometown football team that i could support, like i did when i lived in Hamburg. swear nothing better than driving to away games with your friends, good results are not even mandatory, it's the passion and everything around that makes it so great. "sports really consume 100% of my free time. whenever i can't watch athletes compete or i can't compete myself i just lose all interest in life" literally same, my life without sports or competing would be such a mess.

wow i envy you. we get great support and have major ultras groups in the big cities but 75% of all games are just in boring ass shitholes. still nothing better than awaydays with your friends but germany easily has the best football culture in europe now that england's gone to shit. hsv or st pauli? ))

Imo Basketball is way more interesting to watch then football, talking about the game itself and the action that comes with it. But if you ever decide to watch a game, you have to watch playoff football or basketball. It's incredible, can't be compared to european football(soccer) but it's definitely worth the experience.

watching nhl you can easily fool yourself into thinking nhl is a huge sport in the us, but since i transitioned primarily to the nba and a bit to the nfl, i realized the nhl doesn't draw that much attention. it's only the case in a few select places, like minnesota, detroit and ny. and even there it's not even close to being the biggest sport. and those are pretty hockey-friendly places, now imagine what it's like in la, texas or alabama. start following american sports media and you'll notice college basketball and football garner 10x the attention the nhl does
