im re doing exam for calculus 1 tomorrow morning and im fucking done guys. its so fucking hard i dont know wtf to do. i can do the derviatives and evaluate limits and name some definitions but if i nail all that i get 9/24. the other shit i have no fucking clue and i need 12/24. FUCK CALCULUS. i want to study this program and i have no problems with the other stuff we are doing (programming and interaction design) but i just cant manage this maths. again i say FUCK YOU CALCULUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

calculus is just grinding. basically just solve a ton of problems, constantly increasing difficulty. it's honestly one of the most predictable topics to study for. And it doesn't even matter too much how good you are at math / logic, that just means it will take you a bit longer, but once you solved a ton of problems there isn't really anything that can surprise you in the exam.

KEKW Functions and their applications unit is the name for me. same shit as yours, limit, derivatives, integration, exponential functions. all those mumbo jumbo. Thankfully i passed the unit but it was annoying as hell. My exam for that unit had no calculator and 3 hours and 38 pages of hell.

In my experience if you don't pass you simply don't have the necessary knowledge to continue later and you will need to know mathematical analysis for further mathematical subjects for sure. If you're studying programing I understand that it's boring but some concepts are important for you to know. Good luck friend :)

There’s a lot of ways to view mathematics. This is about looking at patterns in sets and seeing how their innate structures can lead to new inferences. Such as proving fermats last theorem a^x+b^x=c^x has no integer solutions for x greater than or equal to 3

No, you don't get arrested. Cheating on an exam will result in a disciplinary action of some sort. It might be a warning or you can end up being suspended (only for a maximum of 6 months). They prosecuted alot of cheaters last year, but that was alot more serious. The cheaters essentially paid for a company to help them get onto top educations in Sweden by cheating on tests. Around 60 people were expelled from their schools and prosecuted and fined for cheating. Cheating on one exam is serious but nothing that will get you arrested.

The prof was a dipshit, he couldn't even solve his own exam problems on the lectures without making mistakes and taking too much time.

It would have worked if you actually revised, but you probably didn't. I suggest trying to crack a couple of topics (look online if you aren't sure) on the exam for now, and for the others write down the equations you need to know on paper, both ones you already know and the ones you may not know. Tonight memorise a little, have a decent sleep and tomorrow morning, wake up, have a short shower and whatever, keep hydrated, keep reading the equations, but not too much that you get in a panic. Keep calm and try your best, that's all you can do mate. Good luck.
2020-01-25 00:37
I think you underestimate how unreasonable profs can be at some universities. My calculus 1 exam in engineering studies wasn't anything wild theoretically, it was just too many examples that were too complex and took too much time to compute without an illegal calculator. My friend who got his bachelor's in actual maths at Cambridge took 3 hours to solve all the examples. Our time limit was 2 hours.
2020-01-25 00:48
Fair enough, I blame myself for not revising for an exam this morning so I may be putting a little bit of bias in my reply, lol. Had a couple weeks to revise everything we had done in chemistry in the past 3 months, I did try my best every day but I'm learning now that I need to revise every single day at uni rather than just leaving it to the holidays :) I hope that OP can do well though, it's not fun when you're in the mindset of borderline panicky/freakout. (I don't mind the exam itself, but mindset plays a huge part :P)

In fact, in order to understand the basics of matanalysis(especially limits, derivatives, taylor series, and indefinite integrals), to be able to solve main problems in practice and at least to be able to formulate all the theorems, you don’t need to do much, sit in lectures, read something at home, but if you need to learn all the theorems with proofs, then I can understand you, buddy). If it's hard, you can always watch the video on YouTube, read a book, maybe a lecture notes.

I'm studying chemical engineering at Chalmers and before taking Calculus 1, I hadn't studied any maths for about 10 years and thought that I would manage to pass anyways. In my first exam, I scored 4 out of 50 on my first exam and thought that I would never pass the exam, let alone any of the following math courses. But I didn't give up and kept trying, and eventually I adapted and overcame my troubles with math. Moral of the story is that math can be hard as hell, especially at university level, and there are no shortcuts. If you spend enough time, you will pass that course. Don't give up mate.
