Best IGL nowadays
 |
Argentina Shuanx
Ofc gla1ve is the best but apart from him which IGL can create a structure capable of beating Astralis’ teamplay with an appropiate roster? (No Astralis players tho) imo Golden is a pretty underrated IGL who can combine both new stars like Brollan with washed up players like Flusha and make a great mix out of that, fnatic will surely have a great year with him

I don’t really know much about his style but judging by pro100 gameplay the team looks pretty structured though with a lack of individual skills

Jokes aside, he’s a very good IGL, you can see it in Mad Lion’s results lately, not a lot of skills but a lot of gamesense, credit to HUNDEN

i think mad lions next move is to put hunden on the coach spot, his fragging is so far behind the rest of the teams at this point

Yeah no way that would work, and besides there is acutally no danish player ready to play at that level and then when you talk about IGL, it is much worse.

I also prefer more structured, less fragging IGLs but having a fragging one creates a style which can also be successful, check Liquid’s early 2019 run

FalleN frags more than karrigan, Golden and gla1ve. But the other 3 don't have bots in their teams, so nevermind

2020-01-29 17:09

Really hunden over Karrigan even? Maybe if you focus on tier 2 IGL but overall no IMO.
2020-01-29 03:00
To be honest, I didn't read the thread properly, I thought it was only about underrated IGLs, I missed the part about beating Astralis.
2020-01-29 03:18
Hunden is decent but Karrigan has been in the scene for so long at top tier. Hunden has so much potential for future maybe he could get to Karrigan level.
2020-01-29 04:39
He's 28 years old. Don't think there's much potential for the future :)
2020-01-31 00:46
It all depends if he gets picked up by a bigger organisation. Still good imo though.
2020-01-31 09:46
Well that's the thing. Hard to take the next step when he's fragging ability isn't good.

imo karrigan is one step ahead of HUNDEN but Don’t underestimate him
2020-01-29 04:10
No doubt hunden is good and probably underrated but Karrigan has a lot more experience so yeah I think he’s better too. Hunden has lots of potential.
2020-01-29 04:38
Karrigan is 100 steps ahead of HUNDEN dont blind yourself with small petty performances and BO1s , Karrigan shouldnt be compared with HUNDEN until he maintains a top10 spot which will probably be never due to the fact HUNDEN just might be the worst "pro" I have ever seen aim wise. Tactically he is strong but mechanically holy fuck ive seen MM players who are better

Your name supports this. Underdog major win, 4 1.6 majors, 4 other big events in GO. Top 5 IGL all time because of achievements, and he was IGL of peak NaVi.
2020-01-31 00:41
i obviously know most of his achievements but still, how can he be best igl when he isnt even playing lul
2020-01-31 00:43
If we are talking currently then yeah he isn’t.

nitr0 is arguable, not so tactical but more dependent on winning aim duels

This type of IGLs relies a little too much on skilled teammates imo, so they are not that complete gamewise, NA cs has been focusing a lot on skills and too little in structure
2020-01-29 12:09
True if they fall down anywhere as a scene it is structure and organisation. Liquid are NA version of Astralis of course, and Astralis succeed because of their structure, not just skill.

Not true, Liquid very skill heavy but also play a very tactical and hard to break style, just not so much execute heavy, stan kind of the same way, a lot of hiding tells and layering in their styles.

Imo there are only a few igl's who can really hurt astralis consistently. Someone like stanislaw or even niko (hate to say it cuz he isnt real igl) ( btw i dont think niko is a good igl but i gotta admit that with the firepower his team has in theory, sometimes everything just falls into pieces and faze just randomly wins a tournament like its nothing, but they can also drop out in last place at most tournaments ) to some sense can maybe beat astralis sometimes if they are able to ride the momentum with the insane firepower their team has. The best igls are the ones who are able to win against the top teams ( in this case astralis) consistently. ATM there are only 2 of them imo: GOLDEN and Karrigan. golden can really make use of insanely smart players like flusha or jw, while also unleashing the insane firepower in krimz and brollan. karrigan is able to basically make talented players top 20 or top 10 players within no time, while also being very good at knowing the opponents. Those 2 imo have the best chances to take the crown of best igl in the world imo.

Evaluation on this is hard. The ideal IGL have to be a combination on pure brain, innovation and the ability to take the best out of eventual weak spots together with consistent frag ability. Some years ago, we would put aside the frag ability just for the pleasure to see brains like Pronax or Happy working inside the game. Nowadays, it's good to see guys like glave (although I do not like his style) or karrigan staying not far away from their other values. However, if someone get a true ratio, based in numbers as well as strategies built from scrap, I would have to say that both nexa and btnet, would have very nice positions on any table ...
