Democracy: A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives. The US elects its representatives through public elections on all levels of government. The US is therefore a democracy.
2020-02-01 00:42
No its a democratic republic.

Its a representative democracy, you don't have a purer form of democracy, Popular Democracy , which is why you havent burned to the ground yet, popular democracy is much worse than representative democracy, and you're absolute fucking morons so if you had a popular democracy you absolutely would've decimated your country by now much much much MUCH MORE than it already is.

US President Donald Trump is set to be acquitted in his impeachment trial after senators voted against calling witnesses or admitting new evidence. wtf is this corrupt shit ????????????????????????????????????????

If u have a problem blame the house who rushed Trumps impeachment instead of doing a complete investigation. After 17 witnesses called and still no proof of a crime worthy of impeachment they decided on ending the hearing and calling a vote. Once again another crooked shit job by the hateful TDS left. It's mainly because the house convicted him under information and witnesses previously they were to trying to add new witnesses and information after he was already convicted so if they believed the information was undisputable they wouldn't need to push for new witnesses and information
2020-02-01 00:01
accused** not convicted
2020-02-06 19:46
they impeached him
2020-02-06 21:13
which is a fancy way of saying they accused him of doing something the Senate is where they vote on the articles of impeachment to determine whether or not they actually mean anything so you can say he was accused of those 2 articles, but not convicted of anything through the senate
2020-02-06 21:19
exactly which means the house must have believed they had enough evidence to convict him. Yet when it goes to the senate they beg for new info
2020-02-06 23:17
you have to fully understand how partisan our congress currently is..... it's staggering, scary, and bullshit tbh. House of Representatives vote to impeach: Article 1 - Abuse of Power Yes - 230 (229 democrats, 1 independent) No - 197 (195 republicans, 2 democrats) Article 2 - Obstruction of Congress Yes - 229 (228 democrats, 1 independent) No - 198 (195 republicans, 3 democrats) Senate vote to convict: Article 1 - Abuse of Power Guilty - 48 (47 democrats, 1 republican) Not Guilty - 52 (52 republicans) Article 2 - Obstruction of Congress Guilty - 47 (47 democrats) Not Guilty - 53 (53 republicans)

2020-02-01 00:03
that's not even the bad part.... the bipartisan turnout for both the House and Senate votes is absolutely staggering and scary. i understand it's risky to vote against your party, but god damn the House had their moment, it's bluntly obvious that much of the democratic party has been trying to oust Trump since the beginning, and quite frankly they've acted like children through the entire process the GOP majority Senate then said fuck you most recent gallup poll states that 72% of Americans disapprove of congress... and it's been much higher than that in recent years. i dont care what job you have, i don't care where in the world you work, but if you had a 72% disapproval rating you would be fired on the spot without question. our congress is an absolute mess right now and it's painful to watch

2020-02-01 00:35
A partisan vote to avoid hearing witnesses to the president impeachment trial while 75% of american voters wanted to hear those witnesses, like in any other "normal" trial. Interesting sense of democracy.
2020-02-01 13:38
wheres your source for 75% and democracy is when people vote for things
2020-02-05 04:25
Source: Democracy: « a rule of law, in which the laws and procedures apply equally to all citizens. »

2000 people Where did you get that retarded and wrong definition Democracy (Greek: dēmokratía, literally "rule by people") is a form of government in which the people have the authority to choose their governing legislation
2020-02-06 07:24
That's not a definition, that's just one criteria among many others used to define what could be a democracy, but I didn't expect you'd get the subtlety.

2020-02-06 07:33
"They heard witnesses, senat chose not to hear ADDITIONAL witnesses", which happen for the first time in US history. Some would say that could be a problem regarding this old-fashioned concept of democracy.
2020-02-06 11:12
Finland ToxicDUD
First time cuz this time there was nothing to hear, no crime was charged by the congress
2020-02-06 14:03
That's a pretty weak argument. Neither Johnson or Clinton have been accused of any crime. They both have been accused of abuse of power, just like Trump, but 41 witnesses have been called before the Senat in Johnson's case and 3 in Clinton's case. Why senators voted for hearing new witnesses in 1868 and 1999 but voted against it in 2020? Is Justice shoudn't be the same for every citizens of a same country if this country wants to be called a democracy?
2020-02-06 18:40
according to the most recent gallup poll, 72% of Americans also disapprove of congress.... so.... do the people really have much say in this shit?

Yeah even if they heard 10000 witnesses, they have to listen to the rest Imagine your sister gets raped, and the judge don't want to hear a potential witness ? Would you say "They heard plenty before so let's not hear the others" ???????? Be honest please
2020-02-06 11:32
It;s totally different, it wasn't a criminal trial hearing, its a political process. Read about it. But obviously what you're saying is true, anyone would want to hear from further witnesses in a criminal trial, and if a judge was residing over it, it would happen,

What is the difference between a criminal and a President lying and cheating (POTENTIALLY) the his whole peoples? Even if it is not called a "CRIME" it's even worst imo
2020-02-06 11:47
The point is, they had lots of time to gather witnesses and evidence to try to prove it, they couldn't, then they ask fr more time to drag it out even more, which was clearly their only goal in this anyway, with the 2020 election campaign. Also for your information, even state courts reject further witnesses from being called after certain points of hearings, and that means plenty of people being accused of crimes get away with it, due to lack of evidence. If you're so certain you can prove someone is guilty you would gather the evidence first, not near at the end of the trial. I know exactly what you're saying and it seems only fair that all evidence should be taken into account, but that cant always be the case

They could impeach Trump for criminal things he did like assassinating a foreign government official, or support a regime change in Bolivia, or support an illegal war like Yemen, or being Al-Qaeda air force, or dropping missiles on a foreign country, or things like that. No. They try to impeach him for normal actions a president does like asking a foreign president to investigate a crime. Of course, they couldn't do it for the other stuff because they are all in it together.

Waste of time anyway, Trump was never going to be impeached through this trial and they knew that, they just want to keep on trying to drag his name in the mud for as long as possible and will do so at any expense. I'm glad it was rejected, let the president do his job, if the numbers against him are so great like haters say they are then they will have nothing to worry about in this years election

That's our justice system for you. One of trump's people was about to have his sentencing date with a recommended 5-7 years locked up and I thought to myself yea that's not gonna happen. A day later all of the prosecutors on the case withdrew from the case. This happened Monday and Tuesday.
2020-02-15 04:27
Democrats had 18 witneses in congress , republicans had 0 , it was sham partisan impeachment from the start , Adam Schiff said their case was proven , so that's why Senate republicans voted for no additional witneses and it turned out his case was very weak and quickly dismissed . 1/8 for the effort tho .
2020-02-15 04:34
United States jay_320
The case was proven with the phone call itself. The transcript was released. So I actually agree with republicans. Why in the world would you call new witnesses? People in on the call corroborate what was said as do second hand accounts. The facts are not in dispute anywhere. Where I disagree is the cuck ass move republicans made when they tossed all their "principles" out the window and jumped on a Orange haired New York's democrats cock like it was a bike. And then just rode that shit til the chain broke. History will judge this congress harshly. Just as it will judge the do nothing republican house under Obama.
2020-02-22 00:18
Well in some country you can just shot witnesses, in US impeachment trial you can just vote to not hear them. It saves lives after all.
