Mousesports #1 ranking goal for 2020
Australia Beard43
If they manage to win the ICE challenge they may actually achieve their goal just over a month into the year. Good luck to them!

Considering that ICE Challenge is only A-Tier, this wont be possible.

It really depends on how many points Astralis drop next week.

Sure does but it's a big gap atm. But first of all mouse has to win ICE anyway :P

Yeah they definitely need to win to have any chance. It still might not be enough but I think if they do win it will be close between #1 and #2.

how do you check a tournaments tier?

It's a Liquipedia thing, A-tier is the second highest level (majors excluded). A-tier tournaments by their definition "...feature a large prize pool and a good number of top-tier teams."

"A-Tier Tournaments (formerly known as Major Tournaments) feature a large prize pool and !!!!!a good number of top-tier teams!!!!!." i wouldnt call it A-Tier event at all

Because nowadays HLTV kids only consider rank 1-3 as top tier teams? Or because 250,000 is a small prizepool?

prizepool is big...so was in wesg. also i dont consider only rank 1-3 as top tier. for me top tier teams are teams that are favourites for at least semi final+ in big events on consistent basis. in this tournament its pretty much only mouz. overall this tournament has only mouz(2nd) and navi(9th before tournament) as top 10 teams. and imo no way that its enough to call this event as A-tier

A-Tier is the 2nd highest (S-Tier is highest). All teams are from Top 25 (25,24,17,16,14,11,8,2) and 250k prizepool. Perfectly matches to A-Tier imo. E: as a reference this is a link to a B-Tier event: liquipedia.net/counterstrike/Baltic_eSpo.. I dont even know any of the teams, so it wouldnt be fair to put them in the same group as ICE

depends on which definition will you use. from what i remember hltv for example consider only majors as S-tier tournaments while liqui has it as "valve tournaments" and then they have tiers... for me ice challenge is typical t2(or B-tier) event with pretty much only 1 top tier team(mouz) and navi with new lineup. i would compare it with other tournaments like asia championship or blast moscow(both tournaments arent considered as big events according to hltv.org so isnt ice challenge)

i really dont see them even as a tier 1 team, i cant believe theyre top 2 rn

Their short term results were good before the break, yet to see if they're able to be good in long term.

True and they looked a bit shakey in their opening match in ICE too, time will tell.
2020-02-04 10:22
yeah I'm sure they'll gain ~200 points for winning an event where the second best team is ranked #8

They don't need to gain 200pts, Astralis will have decay.

not nearly enough for mouz to catch up with them

Okay thanks, I'm glad to have a ranking expert share a definite answer.

well obviously I can't give you a definite answer becuase the formula for the points isn't public, but you don't have to be an expert to know that a team with a tier 2 event win won't overtake the team that has still won 2/3 tier 1 events in the lan subranking. And then there's the achievements, where astralis won't lose anything significant, mouz can gain 20-40 points max. Finally, astralis might even gain points against mouz in form, because they'll play blast matches against much better opposition
2020-02-04 10:58
Astralis will get VAC'd next month so they are already top 1

they will not be 1st even if they will win it...
2020-02-04 10:18
If mouz win ICE then it will be very close. Astralis will lose points and if mouz win katowice then they become #1 surely. They are not top2 team yet tho. Atleast in my opinion

+1 Although they would be in my top 5 right now and their recent performances have been promising. The only reason I wouldn't put them in my subjective top 2 is because they haven't consolidated their performances, but they also haven't had the opportunity to do so yet.

They were very inconsistent most part of the last year so we will see if they will keep their form and stay in top5

If FaZe reach top 3 I will be happy. Boostmeister legend. Idk if fnatic will drop they haven’t been choking too badly. Rest are choking or inconsistent.
2020-02-04 11:18
THEY CAN'T EVEN BEAT A TEAM WITH 4 BOTS CALLED VITALITY
