I'm pro-nothing, I just pointed out a problem in our system. I truly believe that we still can work for a better system so by saying that we can change it, I'm not saying that I want to change the foundations (which is democracy). Saying "short term == democracy" is a pessimist point of view, in my opinion. We can reinvent our system over and over again.
Anyway, if you want a bit of my opinion: I stand for democracy in the first place but in this case, you have to believe that we actually live in democratic states. At the federal level, I don't know for Sweden but Greece and Belgium are not. Your only choice is to say "I want this guy" and then, whatever you voted, whatever others voted, they're going to do whatever they want. We're in a form of oligarchy that is slightly shaped by a democratic manner. I will never call it a democracy.
