I am moving to Germany in ~15 days and will attend school there. Can you give me any advice before then? Like what I should do in my free time, places to go, foods to try, etc. Any advice is good advice

It doesn't matter if you're muslim or not. It is all about great social system in Germany in general.

I don't pay taxes at all. Noone does. Who cares in that case about social system?
2020-02-16 12:15
Yeah. This "shitty" social system. Who needs that, right? Hahahaha! Toilets outside are better than this "bad" German social system. Oh and health care is also bad and democracy is bad too. Forgot to add these "bad" things... xD It is much better to have a Tzar-dictator who sits "on throne" 20 years and fools people.

It's real quiet back there but if you like that it should be real nice. The black forest is super nice if you want to go hiking and see the nature etc.

I am from a smaller town so it is no problem. I like living in a more quiet area because I already plan to travel to the bigger German cities. I feel like living in those cities would be a bit too crazy for me
2020-02-16 22:01
Even big cities in Germany are kinda relaxed except maybe Frankfurt or Berlin. When you are there check out lake constance for sure!

Any more places to check out? More specifically places that the average tourist might not know about.

In the summer the Rhine will be real nice if we get a hot summer. Otherwise anywhere in the alps. Never lived that far in the west of BW so not too sure

I am planning to travel a lot. So I'd be willing to go anywhere besides northeastern Germany (except berlin)
2020-02-16 22:14
Berlin is sweet tho. Forget the HLTV racist ass shit. Some of the best culture, music clubs, etc there you'll find in Germany. Saxony is real nice too especially the mountains

I meant that I do not want to travel to northeastern Germany, except I would travel that far only for Berlin. I know it is a cool city so of course I want to go. My bad for the wording

IMO you can skip Frankfurt. Really didn't like that city. Dirty and a lot of weirdos. The rest is ok though

Do you have any advice for what I should do for food? I can eat at my uni often I think but where should i buy groceries and what do I look for? Are there any must haves that I need to have in my pantry for the week? Sorry for questions bro I just am going into this pretty blind and could use any tips!
2020-02-16 23:01
UNI food is generally good. I only know mine but it's super cheap for students 2-3 euros a meal. Otherwise, supermarkets in Germany are cheep especially LIDL, Aldi and Netto. If you want nicer stuff you got REWE and a few others but stuff is quite a lot more expensive. If you have any questions just DM

Germany is one of the best countries in Europe and in the whole World so you will enjoy it a lot probably. But all depends on you anyway. You should respect all German laws, practice German language as much as possible, learn German history and traditions. Try to be friendly and the most of people will be friendly towards you too.

Mostly do what you would going to any new place. Be friendly, show interest in people that welcome you, be prepared that things will feel unfamiliar for a while...Germany is a nice place so you should be fine.

Offenburg/Gengenbach area edit: I am not huge into football, but in terms of the social aspect like going to games I am all for that
2020-02-16 21:45
Mhm, that's a rough one. It's not worth going to a small club imo. to get a real insight on what german soccer/football culture is about. You'd need to go to a top club. The nearest "top" club is "KSC" in Karlsruhe. Next to Karlsruhe is "VfB Stuttgart" in Stuttgart. I'd recommend Stuttgart, because they have a way bigger stadium, are on their way to the Bundesliga again and therefore have more fans in the stadium than KSC, who has a small "stadium" and is on their way to the 3rd League again.

Which part of Germany? If you move to a conservative area (basically the east excluding Berlin) you will absolutely hate it. They are the coldest people I have ever met and are not open to immigrants. It is normal for employers to scream at their employees in shops, if you do something slightly out of the ordinary (listening to music at 20:01) then expect an angry letter from a neighbour etc etc. Goodluck man, maybe we can meet up :) Edit: it is worth mentioning that I have lived in multiple countries before moving to Germany and had never had a problem with people and making friends
