youtube.com/watch?v=7UK4uLyVsXQ I mean, how the fk You can be so stupid that You dont know how to use a clutch and change gears? I remember when I was 14 and my dad was teaching me how to change gears in the countryside when my grandma lives, it took me 5 minutes to figure it out.

Cuz manual in sport cars with rear wheel drive is waaaaaaaay better. You will understand when You'll drive something with at least 400hp and rear wheel drive.

Do You think that 400hp cars are drivable bombs or what? If You drive like an idiot, You can die in "Smart" (its a car), You have a brain, 400hp is nothing and its actually more comfortable to drive.
2020-02-16 22:07
He isn't from some poor gypsy country where everyone's dream car is an E46 M3 from the early 2000s. Any modern sports car worth having will come with dual clutch automatic transmission.

sorry no one in your country can afford automatic transmission yuropoor

implying that a couple of hundreds € actually matter when you are buying a (new) car. There won't be much of a difference when buying a used car.

How the fuck are they supposed to know how to drive a manual when barely anyone uses a manual in the US? What you are saying is that they are stupid because they dont know how to do something that has never been taught to them and never did it.I hope you realize that doesnt make sense

Well the majority of Americans are obese so its too much leg work for them to press a clutch... disgusting really.

Just look at those comments, people think that automatic transmission is "technology". Its kinda hard to talk about cars with kids or young people who never had a chance to drive something nice.

Just a bunch of losers who like to just sit in a seat that gets them from A to B
2020-02-16 22:17
Yup, having to constantly change gears in traffic is definitely more enjoyable. Or to go uphill. The only reasonable advantage I've heard is that you get more control, but for 99% of kids who get manual cars that doesn't actually matter, they just get them to boost their ego.

Having an automatic because you live in a very busy area with stop start traffic is fine, but then most people would be taking public transport in that situation. Secondly, going up a hill is a skill and not "putting in work". You're complete shit at driving if you can't even do a hill start btw. And finally, kids don't get manuals to boost their ego, insurance can be expensive and many cheap small cars are offered in manual only - atleast in Europe.
2020-02-16 22:20
I know going uphill in a manual car is a skill... an unnecessary skill that's rightfully going extinct. Imagine having to learn how to balance clutch and gas when you can just fucking press one pedal and go. 99.9% of people don't need to be advanced drivers, they're just trying to go from point A to B. Kids absolutely get manuals to boost their ego, very few do it to save money, although you are right, a lot of old cheap cars are manual in the EU.

I understand that, but its still good to know how to drive a manual because you never know when you'll need it. And I don't know why you keep talking about boosting ego, its literally a fact that manuals give a more enjoyable driving experience - by giving the driver full control and just generally making it more pleasurable by working with a clutch and gear shifter. BMW still give their latest M3 with a 6 speed manual, and its not for no reason.
2020-02-16 22:40
Of course it can be useful. If you work at a garage for example, you absolutely should know how to drive manual. Also, in America I believe manuals are cheaper to insure since people are much less likely to steal your car. I disagree that it's a "more enjoyable" experience though, and I disagree with people like OP who seem to be suggesting you should drive manual or not drive at all. I bring up ego because it's literally one of the reasons many new drivers choose to go for manual. They're ridiculed by their friends if they go for automatic.

As a guy who only drove manuals, there is nothing wrong with driving automatics. Didn't watch the video tho, so I might be missing the point

I taught myself to drive in a 1989 Honda Civic Stick. Majority of people I've known personally, including my brother drive manual cars because it is an ego thing, not a control thing or a skill thing. But welcome to California, almost everything is an ego thing here.

Well I would recomment anybody to at least learn how to drive a manual car so that you at least can do it (in case of emergency or whatever). Other than that it really doesnt matter what you got.
2020-02-17 13:08
Yes! I encourage everyone to learn to drive in both comfortably, for that reason especially. I wouldn't ever worry about Manuals going out of style in America, though. Too many car meets, too many racer kids and tons of rich car collectors & hobbyists.
