So I'v been having fun on JS lately, also trying PHP etc. but I just got call from my old consortium that they have small job offer me in Java. Literally just ~1000 lines project. And here is the problem - I install latest JDK and I have compatibility problem with my java base. Reinstalling both latest - same thing. Turns out that some time ago Java went full JDK mode. Question is - how do I use it now? Help me cause I have really smol brain and I have no clue what happened in past 2 years in Java area. tldr: how tf I use Java nowadays - which base/jdk I have to install?

install older jdk wtf

either get LTS java 8 (1.xxx) or newest jdk with is 13 I believe. You need JDK to build and JRE if you want to run only. Also install IntelliJ IDEA, its idiot proof for Java devs

Making thread about programing on HLTV instead on proper programing forum instantly qualify you as attention whore instead future programmer.

Not future, I'm actually junior rn, had some experience in Grid Dynamics. And I just wanted instant answer cause I know there are many of you Java experts - and I got it on PM so I'm happy for now

So you earn money as programmer and you can't set up basic things?

Lmao is Poland this strapped for programmers? I know some friends who got 2.5 GPA's in college who need jobs.

jdk is kinda dumb just use the most recent jdk (i think it is 13 rn) and the most recent version of java make sure they are stored in your environment variables on your computer

use python, Java sucks
2020-02-18 21:49
Java is like the middle child between Python and C++. Somewhat complex compared to Python, but doesn't have all the features C++ has. Probably gonna be a "legacy code maintenance" language in 10-20 years.

The problem is that Java is a very heavy language, and I'm studying C++ as well, all languages have basically the same structure, so it's not a very problem, I knew Python as well, but I passed some time no programming and now I'm studying C++ again, cuz I wanna study analysis and systems development next year

Python and C++ are good focuses, one teaches you about higher level languages, the other low level. It's a really good start point.

Use stackoverflow next time.

Bro JS (javascript) and Java aren't interchangeable words. And can't you just ask your employer for a compatible version of Java if you can't set it up?
