Stretched because bb is useless. dont like the feel of stretched? play 16:9. Dont like the sharpness of native? play 1280x720.
2020-02-26 12:20
I dont like stretched, i like how BB feels and thats why i play it.

bb feels the exact same as 16:9, but with sides cut off. you're giving yourself a disadvantage for no reason.
2020-02-26 12:23
It doesnt feel the same though, you are more focused on the centre of your screen, most of the info is closer to the centre of the screen aswell, it feels much different to 16:9. Its all preference.

I will never understand this focus thing. I used to play BB myself. Theres no difference in my attention span just because the sides are cut off. You can also move your HUD closer to the center on 16:9 so that info thing doesn't matter.
2020-02-26 12:25
I know you can but you can do that on BB aswell as have all the info even closer, so again you are wrong. The reality is and anyone with a brain knows this is that it doesnt matter, its preference. The reason i hate stretched is it actually makes everything appear further from the centre of the screen than it is by stretching it, what is actually just a small adjustment looks like a flick, my crosshair placement, tracking, awping, movement and spraying are all better on BB, so thats why i play it.

You either like stretched or you don't. Its preference. But theres no difference between 16:9 and BB. You're simply handicapping yourself. I don't know how close you have to plant your face in order to get "distracted" by your peripheral vision. Even if that were the case you're better off getting used to it to utilize that extra FOV. Try 1280x720. Theres no learning curve changing from 1024x768.
2020-02-26 12:33
There is, i play really well on one and i cant on 16:9, thats all i need to know.

Sounds like placebo but if thats how it is then you really can't do much. Just stick to what you know.
2020-02-26 12:35
Thats what this all is, 16:9 is obviously technically the best, i have 3 screens i have got to 48:9 and see like 4 angles at once, i dont play well on it at all though. Its like people swearing they aim better on certain crosshairs, all a crosshair does is give you a reference point for the centre of the screen.
2020-02-26 12:37
Tell me what does stretched do, nothing, it makes models appear wider, but it also distorts your sens so on your mouse mat the target is still the same size so it doesnt make aiming easier at all, its a placebo effect.

You answered the question yourself. It makes models appear wider. Its the equivalent of buying a bigger monitor. Not really placebo in my book, it legitimately makes it easier to see. Aiming feels really weird on stretched unless you alter m_yaw. Thats one disadvantage. And the loss of FOV of course.
2020-02-26 12:44
No its not the equivilent of getting a bigger screen as you are taking less info than 16:9 and stretching it one axis. Also altering M_yaw changes the sense between vertical and horizontal and will destroy muscle memory, you dont just lose FOV on stretched, you spread a norrowed fov wider meaning you need to look further to see the same amount of info.

"You are taking less info than 16:9 and stretching it one axis." Yes, thereby giving you a larger (zoomed in) image. Which is the end goal. m_yaw is personal preference. I like to change it to carry over the 1:1 feel that I have on 16:9. Helps because I play other games too.
2020-02-26 12:50
But for what, your sens gets distorted so it makes no difference, no one have trouble seeing on native or BB, if you change Myaw thats just turning down your sens but only on one axis, you might aswell just go with BB or 16:9 and turn down your sens, then heads on mouse mat will actually be bigger and easier to hit, all im showing is no argument either was makes any sense.
2020-02-26 12:53
Placebo is a real thing that can be really helpful is used correctly

Correct, but if placebo goes against something that you know is the objectively correct choice, its sometimes worth investing the time to get used to it.

Ur not listening to the reasoning. Replying with "ur wrong," "i prefer this" doesn't make u correct. Yes, you can prefer one to the other, but that doesn't stop the other from being a better option.

stretched because bb looks like youre playing in 1853 computer game, stretecd looks like 1990-2000 but its better. native is best though ondt you forget this.
2020-02-26 12:21
I like BB 1024x768, for some reason i just cant aim on stretched.

The reason is that your vertical aim is different to horizontal aim on stretched. Drawing a circle with your mouse will draw an oval on the screen.
2020-02-26 12:24
No, it appears different, but you still have to move your mouse the same amount to get to same amount of rotation it just the image is distorted, it looks further than it is, the idea that its easier to hit heads on stretched is nonsense, its a placebo, it all is.

Its easier to hit heads because its easier to see. Theres nothing more to it, but its not exactly placebo either.
2020-02-26 12:46
Also things look like they move faster, your reactions dont get faster. Its a placebo, no one with semi decent eyes has issues seeing on any aspect ratio, your monitor is very close and takes up a large portion of your fov so thats also not really a reason, the reality is there is no real reason, its placebo, you feel like you are more comfortable on it and therefore play better, you then try to justify your choice afterwards.

If I have to headshot someone from D2 A site to pit then I'll have an easier time seeing them on stretched. I find 16:9 more fun to play, but I legitimately can't see long distance so I give up on using it. My eyes aren't the greatest.
2020-02-26 12:57
So this means you are a bad analogue for testing setting and therefore your opinion is not a suitable one for 90% of people to follow as most people dont have eye issues. So again to call BB useless is stupid, if you like the stretch so much why stop at 4:3, why no go 1:1.

I used to play 5:4, which is more stretched. I found that 4:3 is the perfect balance between FOV and model size. That much is personal preference. Back when I played 5:4 I did have a slightly smaller monitor. I also have to add that unlike most CS players I don't glue my face to the screen. I stay a comfortable distance away, similar to Elige. Maybe if I did get closer native would be more feasible, but I'd rather save whats left of my eyes.
2020-02-26 13:03
Its proven that distance from a screen has no effect on your eyes.

What is the point of 4:3 bb? You have less FOV and the enemies isn't that easy to shot

apparently BB makes you "more focused"?? idk
2020-02-26 12:24
That could be the only reason playing with it obviously, but streched is both a combination of benefits and focus

in the end its personal preference. I played 4;3 stretched for over a year and it was okay but when i switched back to native 1920x1080 i started playing a lot better
2020-02-26 12:29
it's like changing crosshair from time to time IMO

i always have same crosshair - thicc green so it doesnt disappear on some maps but also smol so its not too big
2020-02-26 15:20
I usually play with 2 different crosshairs. Sometimes I need to switch cause I feel the movement and the spray control. I feel like I shot where I want but the bullets are rubber xD , after I change it gives me more confidence where the bullets go. Same thing used to happen with res too, but it wasn't the problem

haha, I know what you mean by saying rubber bullets. I play m4a1 and it looks like i have my crosshair on enemy but they wont die. But i dont change it
2020-02-26 15:26
No it doesnt, stretched takes a lesser fov and spans in across your entire screen meaning you have to move your eyes further just to see the same amount, this means your peripheral vision loses a lot of information and so does your primary central vision.
2020-02-26 12:51
lesser fov? wtf 4:3 is 4:3 and the amount of FOV is the same across all the res, 16:9 has different fov (wider), and 16:10 again slightly wider.

there is no point in playing any specific resolution. its all personal preference.
2020-02-26 12:26
I find the lower i go the better i play, i sometimes play 640x480 and i wreck on it, you can hardly see shit at range though.
2020-02-26 13:16
If u playing on str just stay on str etc
2020-02-26 12:24
So I really like both of BB and stretched. After every 1-2 month i switch between them and now my aim has been fucking bad and i cant decide on which one should i keep playing
2020-02-26 12:24
It doesnt matter, pick one and play it.
2020-02-26 12:25
I know but i dont feel the same thing like i used to do when i played on BB And on stretched its so smooth but i dont aim as good like i do on BB
2020-02-26 12:27
So play BB then, if you played well on it stick with it, the right settings wont make you a god, but settings thats don suit you will make you a bot. I used to play at 800 and 2.2 sens everyone told me it was too high, i got to level 9 on it with only about 1200 hours, thats really good, i lowered it and just got worse.
2020-02-26 12:30
Ye, it takes some days to get that feeling back
2020-02-26 12:34
And when its fully muscle memory it can take much longer.
2020-02-26 12:34
Stretched because it's 2020 and we are using widescreen monitors.
2020-02-26 12:27
I use bb cause i feel more concentrated with a squared screen
2020-02-26 12:31
I play with black bars. I am more focused and radar is not to far.

move HUD closer?
2020-02-26 12:47
Tried didn't liked
2020-02-26 12:59
Does your aim feel more stable on BB, i feel like that, i just more stable on it and for some reason my movement is better.
2020-02-26 13:13
I play with vertical and horizontal black bars and I only have a small square 100x100 pixels on the middle of the monitor so I can "focus more" XD

4;3 stretched because models are bigger targets to hit and higher FPS. Everything else is worse.
2020-02-26 12:50
The models look bigger, but they arent, the stretch also distorts your mouse movements measning the target is the same size where it matters, your mouse mat. Also higher FPS, any decent PC can push well past 240fps so to say everything else is worse is just ignorant, you like stretched more, doesnt make everything else worse.

They are wider targets to hit. My mouse space is tiny so idk what you mean. They’re easier to hit. My PC is rubbish so cool if yours can get 240 FPS. I play at about 120. Visibility is the only other part which is obviously worse.
2020-02-26 12:59
Ill break it down to you, when you change you raise your sens the targets head will represent a smaller area on your mouse mat, for instance Niko used to play 560edpi, Elige plays at almost double that, this means targets on Eliges mouse mat will take up a smaller area. When you stretch the image it look wider but your mouse movements are also distorted by the same amount meaning you still have the same margin for error and heads still take up the same space on your mouse mat. If a head is a CM wide on your mouse mat at 500EDPI it will be 0.5cm at 1000EDPI, if you then stretch any of these settings it will still be 1cm at 500 or 0.5cm at 1000, it wont change.

Ok? All of this is personal preference I suppose. Statistically they might be the same but stretched is sooo much easier to click heads. Idk why.
2020-02-26 13:03
Its placebo as i said, its the same as me aiming better at 1760EDPI or 1400EDPI then i do at 560EDPI, 560 i have so much more margin for error but even when im used to that sens i just play better higher.

I used to play BB for so long, I switched to streched lately. I had this problem where the screen felt to big, and the sens was quicker: I lowered the HUD size and moved it closer to the center (yeah there is that option that ive totally forgot about) and lowered my sens (3.0 to 2.7) and it's like ive never play BB In the end its just all a preference. There is no "best res" that'll make you a god. Stick to the one taht suits you
2020-02-26 12:55
Im the opposite, started at 1920x1080, went to 1440x1080 stretched, now i play 1024x768 bb.
