"Well that's not what you wrote, " i think being a discussion about anime makes it clear what shonen i'm talking about (the narutos/one pieces of the world).
"i can name at least 3 shonen off the top of my head that are masterfully written regardless if you're interestend in the story or not," please name them, but that wont change that the MAJORITY are not. And the job of the story is to be interesting doesn't matter who is watching/reading it. I do watch/read anything if its good, not only dramas or adult stuff, i like the craft, not a genre.
I do agree that its impressive, but doesn't make them better just because of it, it normally makes it worse because the writer runs out of ideas, or characters show regression, etc.. That is not only a problem with anime/manga, that happens with TV shows/books for "adults" too.
But the argument is stupid and doesn't change the quality of anything, if the characters/plot/writting are bad in the start (the majority of shonens) it will still be bad at 300 chapters in, or even worse. And shonen has some of the worst writing practices on how to establish those things
The argument can be flipped too; movies are more impressive than long running series because they need to make you interested in a character, plot, and message in a span of 2h max, while long running series can do it with 10x the amount of hours. There is quote that is something like "if you are in a hurry write a book, if you have time write a movie"
" dramaticaly shorter well written series just because it's aimed at adults." That was never my point, like i said, there is a bunch of stories that are aimed for kids that are masterfully created and i like them more than some "adult" aimed ones even, the length of it changes nothing
But i'm elitist, i will take my ghibli movies and leave (that the majority are made for kids btw)
