It's not enough for a pc nowadays. If you install win 10, with a couple of programs and csgo you're almost at the limit, forget to install any other game, 250 would be better if you don't want to buy 500gb. But if he wants to do videoediting having videos on ssd is a must, if he does something more than travel videos for the family, he'll need more storage on the long run.
2020-03-31 14:42
I use a 250 GB SSD and a 1tb HHD EXACTLY like op said and it works just fine. I don't know how anyone could be dumb enough to think it's "just not enough now adays" Anything storage wise is "enough" it might not be as convenient but if he just plays C's and edits videos a 1tb hhd and 250gb SSD is plenty to get started. He doesn't NEED any more.

He's gonna buy/have 120gb ssd. That's not enough. If you want to edit real videos that are loseless or high quality 4k videos, you'll need more than a 250gb ssd. You can use the HDD to save them later, but while you're working you need to have them on the ssd or ram, where I would change those 16gb for 32gb too. By the way, I stated before that 250gb would be ok for a normal pc.
2020-04-01 09:27
You can buy a fairly decent Intel 1TB SSD, its on the Logical Increments site. only costs like 80 quid too.
2020-03-31 14:42
Not arguing that its a poor decision financially in relation to a different option(s). i'm just saying that the premise that a 120gb ssd and 1tb hardrive "isn't enough" is absolutey retarded.

You should really consider getting 3700x for cs go, it's the best CPU for cs go in the market and you should get 650 w, everything else looks good, little bit more ssd space would be nice to have

usually PSUs are less efficient when there is a low power draw that is a very little amount tho
2020-03-31 02:47
PSUs are actually most efficient when working at around 50% load, so in this case - the more watts PSU has the less power draw

yea but there is no reason to buy bigger psu. cant imagine it spending more than 400W unless you get shitton of LEDs
2020-03-30 23:58
if you have a high end and pwer consuming cpu, gpu and rgb lights yeah ,but its better to invest in a 550w or 600w so that you need not change your psu for atleast 5 or 6 years,i bought a 450W psu and now i cannot buy rx 590 which if i oc would need 500w ,so i now have to go with the 1660 tho i wanted the rx 590 which is at same price ,so its not wrong to have a high power psu even if your specs arent gonna match that
2020-03-31 00:02
next time buy a 450 or 500w bro , dont make the same mistake i did because at point you might upgrade and then your psu would restrict you.

I have second-hand computer with 550W psu. It needs under 400W of power tho so it is just there. OP said he was buying 500W psu and I think you should not go higher than that. #9 recomended 650W which is just unreasonable.
2020-03-31 00:08
yeah 650 is maybe too much but he said that so he wont be having to change in case he decides to go super high end (fixing 10000 lights, next high end gpu ,high end cpu )

7.5/10 realy good for video editing and other games on high settings, but for cs go r7 2700x is not best choise cuz ryzen have poor single core perfomence. in cs you will see avg 200 fps (150-250), only source 2 can fix that i have r5 3600 and i got 350+ fps on all competitive map ryzen 3000 series much better than 2000 for cs go and still amazing for other things but more expensive 16gb ddr4 3200 - you can overclock to 3466, 3600, 3800 with best possible timings rtx 2060 - ok 1 tb HDD - ok 120 gb ssd - it's very small ssd in 2020, i think 240 gb will ok but you can more 500w psu - if you will overclock cpu you can take more powerfull or more effective psu

2020-03-30 22:08
Windows just keeps taking up more and more space as time goes on. I built my PC 4 months ago and got drive dedicated for windows only. At this point it already hogs up over 70GB. But you need more than that, to leave free space on SSD to ensure longevity. More so if it is drive for OS, I would suggest not giving it opportunity to burn through all of it's read&write cycles. Give enough time span and not enough space on the drive and the SSD will inevitably be die at some point down the years forward.
2020-03-31 11:59
this happens because you install a lot of programs and windows installs a lot of updates. even if you delete them again windows saves a lot of files. also you probably have some spyware on it at this point. when i was a kid i installed my pc anew every 3-6 months because it would slow down a lot. now i dont install random programs from shady internet sites and it doesnt clutter up nearly as much.
2020-03-31 12:55
also i dont update my win7 any more. literally every computer on the planet is vulnerable to hardware exploits. there is no point in doing it. if you are using win10, well thats your problem right there.
2020-03-31 12:55
So if I use windows 10 then I'm doing something wrong, if I'm somehow exploited by someone it's me who's doing something wrong. Anything more than 50gb and you'll show up with a stick to point out how bad I am at life and how I don't deserve to own a PC? Is the general gist I'm getting from you.
2020-03-31 13:13
no its microsoft doing everything wrong. you are just a victim, having to overspend on SSD storage because they suck at making an OS that doesnt bloat, with decent package management. microsoft even forced ppl to upgrade from win7 to 10 against their will with patches. the only way to still have win7 is by not patching for years or by using a pirated copy. you can install a light linux OS to compare, it wont take up more than a couple GB unpacked. with win10 you could look at disabling shadow storage, ubackup.com/windows-10/volume-shadow-cop.. deleting system restore points and temp folder pureinfotech.com/remove-temporary-files-.. answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/foru.. i use a program called "TreeSize Free" to also look in other folders, like my user account folder, appdata and programdata folder, and delete files from them manually if some programs start hogging a lot of space. this win7 install is like a year old and the Windows folder only takes up 20GB on my SSD
2020-03-31 13:21
also if you have a decent system you can disable hiberfil.sys and reduce your swap file size, hibernation doesnt save time over shutdown with a good SSD and swap file is only needed if you are using all your ram, in which case your pc will run better if you just close some programs. disabling shadow copy and these 2 things can easily save 20-30GB of space on C. techsupportall.com/hiberfil-sys-file-del.. pcgamer.com/what-are-page-and-swap-files.. obviously i dont expect people who dont work in IT to know any of those things, its microsofts fault.
2020-03-31 13:23
I see. I do feel guilty however and so condemnation resonates with me. For giving micorsoft a pass on this. However I just do not have spare energy to figure that stuff out, and I do believe less so most of other people using windows. Thanks for tips!
2020-03-31 13:33
It's not trust me I have 128gb ssd and it sucks, gets full to quickly and i even have only csgo and win on it installed

So this dude said he's into video editing and you recommended him to just get a 256GB M.2 NVME SSD and that's it memory wise? Good shit dude.
2020-03-31 10:58
I'd recommend going for Ryzen 7 3700x ( it is worth it i can confirm ) if you have the budget but anyways its a good PC

Monitor? Mouse and keyboard? PC seems all good, other than the tiny SSD barely sufficient for housing windows.
2020-03-31 11:50
you only need about 50GB for windows and applications

r5 3600 rtx 2060 16 gb 3000 mhz 1tb ssd 600w psu could be 480gb ssd +1tb hdd
2020-03-31 11:52
That's a solid build, depending on how you use video you editing you could add in more ram very easily You really need more SSD space though. Don't settle for less than 500GB, anything less and you'll find yourself moving things into your hard drive soon enougb

Ryzen r7 2700 ***without X 16gb ddr4 3200 rtx 2060 ***super ***1 tb SSD ***600w psu (for upgrade in future)

500gb m.2 ssd is like 70€ so why the hell buy 120gb one?

Buy these components: Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomohawk or Asus B450 Tuf Pro Proc: Amd Ryzen 2700x Also u need good cooler for him: Bequiet Dark PRO4 Video: RTX 2060 Super (Palit or Asus, don't buy msi) Power: Bequiet System Power 9 600w RAM: 2x8 3200 Mhz any of these: Ballistix (AES at the ending) or GSKILL Ripjaws or Kingston HyperX Predator (Not Fury) And don't buy HDD, it's old shit, better to buy ssd 1tb with m2 factor: Wester Digital Blue, Kignstone UV500, best choice Samsung EVO but it's expensive af

spending 450 euro on a gpu, to pair it with a sub 200 euro cpu with low clock speeds, is a sure sign of a total noob. your system will not even be able to use 50% of that gpu's power. for 450 euro gpu you will need at least a 400 euro ryzen 3800/3900X or i7 9700K. then on top of that you want a 500W PSU which is not even enough to build a PC with a dedicated 225W GPU in it. youre probably going to buy the shittiest cheapest PSU you can find to "save" money, which will cost tens of extra euros per year in electricity cost because it is shit, and it will blow your whole PC up 1 day after the 2 year warranty expires. 1TB HDDs have the worst price per gb, get a 3-4 TB drive. its 2020. 1 game can take up 100GB. you also havent even written down which brands and models of parts you want to get, which is very important. not every 1tb hdd and 120gb ssd is the same. not every 3200mhz ddr4 ram is the same. not every RTX 2060 is the same. some have really shit coolers and will throttle on temperature. please dont pick the parts yourself. pay someone who knows how to build a balanced system to do it for you. most shops do it for about 30 euro. better get a friend to do it who you can trust not to sell you shitty overpriced parts they have left over from last year. it will save you money.
2020-03-31 12:14
the way it works with PSU: usually 50-75W of the GPUs rated power is only on 5V line. so 500W PSU you buy is actually only 425-450W. you want to use only up to 80% of the rated power on 12V lines. so from the 450W you will only use 360W. of this your gpu of choice can use up to 225W, so you now have 135W left for CPU, RAM, mobo, hard drive. AMD CPUs use a lot of power, the 2700X uses up to 105W. so you will have 30W left for everything except CPU and GPU. its not enough.

Just get a 1tb SSD, they literally cost 100$. Using HDD in 2020 is dumb and since you say you will be editing mainly its gonna hurt real bad.
2020-03-31 12:16
you can get a 4TB HDD and a 256-512GB SSD for less money, most games you can install on HDD as they will load the files sequentially so with 200MB/s HDD you will be fine. put OS and heavy applications like Photoshop and maybe a couple games that you play a lot or have really long load times on SSD.

he said its for mainly editing and just a bit of gaming. Thats why he should only get SSD tbh. Editing on HDD is pure aids

Nice PC for 1080p. I have mid-end PC with Ryzen 2600 and RX 580 8GB and this config can run any game in 1080p with good settings and fps.

Shit size for hdd when 2tb version is like 10e more, 4tb imo too big taking into account that it will need to be changed in 4yrs minimum anyways, too small PSU Also why are you buing an old architecture CPU?

2700x overprice (better buy 2700 and overclock it by urself) and 2060s would be way better 6/8
2020-03-31 14:35
Pay a bit more and take 2060s (bought this one myself, its fcking nuts), better go with 600/650w PSU (if youll ever upgrade GPU - youll not need to buy new PSU too, 500w will work on the edge and if its not gold/platinum certificate PSU - youll get even lower "real" power level, like 450-470), 120GB SSD is way too low this days, youll regret not buying at least 250 quiet soon trust me (just a friendly suggestion). p.s. go with as high ram freq as you can afford yourself, if you can buy green ones without radiators but with higher frequency - dont hesitate and go for it. 7/8 anyways, good pick :D

That's a pretty decent build! Personally I'd try to aim for 2060 S or 2070 build since it might last a bit longer. But 2060 is just fine.

i hate ryzen, for me intel always better
2020-04-01 09:52
It's not a matter of opinion if something is better. If something is better, it is just better and not a single opinion can change that. Right now AMD is better than Intel in every processor segment and you have to admit that.
2020-04-01 10:42
why not M.2 disk? ditch that ssd and hdd lol also buy non X version and OC it...
2020-04-01 09:58
Since you're primarily video editing, Ryzen is the better choice. That PSU is a bit underwhelming though, I would've gone with a 600+
