Germany BestestRusskiJermanHLTV
ok this time serious topic since all little kids on hltv are sleeping) i want to get a new car for this summer (currently driving a bmw 320ci 170hp) and feel like its too expensive to maintain. im still looking for a sporty car though, but a bit cheaper in insurance/tax and maintenance costs if possible. ill probably sell my bmw for 3.5k € and try to save around 2k€ for summer. so im thinking about golf mk5 gti or mazda 3 mps, or any turbocharged motor with good potential to put in stage 1/2. so give suggestions pls, thank

If ur foreigner or in general? And is it true cars are cheap atm?
2020-04-02 20:00
If you are a foreigner, since all the borders are closed atm. It is even a problem inside the country, cuz some big cities were already closed. Cars in Russia are generally cheaper, but you have to consider that Russia has a huge problem with road quality, so transmissions are being kinda raped. Also russians are not that considerate while handling cars, so buying a car with a big mileage in Russia is usually a bad idea. And yeah atm a damn lot of people are selling their cars, cuz maintenance is hella expensive and economy is in a deep shit.
2020-04-02 20:50
You mean the suspenssion is getting raped not transmission? Because I got confused that transmission suffers from bad quality roads

Some cars that you can buy from Russia have had their odometers rolled back, so be careful with that aswell.
2020-04-03 12:55
I live there, prices AREN'T DEPENDING from oil Everything is raising on 5% per year at min (even when oil was 80$) Car prices are always extremely high in Russia, now it's getting even worse because of corona & oil getting cheaper (everyone is trying to "outrun" the inflation) You won't be able to buy not dead sporty car for 5k eur here

Yeah but isn't the ruble growing recently(1eur = +-85ruble), isn't that a good opportunity for europeans to buy a car over there?

2020-04-01 08:55
it can last for a really long time if you're just maintaining it like you should
2020-04-01 09:20
Who wants to drive a car where u need to check on the engine every 30k km? Except rx8 enthusiasts.
2020-04-01 09:39
it's a really fun car to drive, that's why. it was just a proposal though. maybe Nissan 350Z would be a better choice, if you can find one within your budget
2020-04-01 09:49
I don't doubt that. It's rwd, decent power, low fuel economy and looks good. But yeah the engine is definitely not reliable. The 350z would be awesome but i think that's a bit too much for me. Haven't checked insurance/fuel costs but can imagine it's definitely more than my current
2020-04-01 09:57
Yeah sure that's why these cars get sold for literally nothing on the market

That's exactly what I am saying, which means they are shit for everyday driving unless youre rotary enthusiast.
2020-04-02 02:35
It rusts like shit, Mazdas are know of using wrong metal elements for the surface of the car, they dont take winters really well, in some countries roads are covered in salt (in winters) and mazdas are shit, because once they get that wet snow with salt it goes bad shit crazy for mazdas, like driving a trap

2020-04-03 12:51
Take A4 B7 3.0 TDI quattro, you will have a lot of fun with it, it’s not that hard to maintain this car unless some big problem occurs in the engine, but 3.0 engines are really reliable, they are strong, powerful and doesn’t take that much gas if you drive normally... and you can get decent looking S-line A4 B7 with 18 inch rims for around 5-6k very great buy if you ask me

2020-04-01 08:35
Might go for this one. But rather get a is250 Diesel sounds absolute shit
2020-04-01 09:36
Dieasel sounds like a shit but fuel consumption is much lower and it'll be faster for sure than 250. I'm the owner of is chip-tuned 220d btw so if you have questions feel free to ask
2020-04-01 09:55
What stage? Fuel consumption on ur car atm? 0-100? :D Maybe wouldn't mind a diesel, depends on the better I will find I guess
2020-04-01 10:17
I guess it's something like 1 stage. It has now ~500-500nm torque and ~205-210hp. Fuel consumption before removing dpf and egr was avg 8-9 after chip tuning it's like 6-7 Idk about 0-100 tbh because my rare tires are always bald :D
2020-04-01 10:40
500nm torque on rwd sounds great. I think this car convinced me
2020-04-01 11:01
Some parts could be little bit expensive but for 4 years of owning this car I didn't have any big troubles or something so I can definitely recommend this car. If you still have some questions you can always pm me

2020-04-01 08:48
Buy electric, close to no maintenance, cheap energy, amazin to drive.
2020-04-01 08:56
Nt greta
2020-04-01 10:01
Dude, if you're old enough to drive, which i doubt, go try an electric, not even a Tesla. and you'll see by yourself that it's great to drive, that you won't waste time filling your tank, and save $$$. and you'll piss off Jacky and his noisy 150hp car by leaving him behind at every light.. it's silent, and often you'll have many great option with it. + depending on yr governement you'll have help to buy it... And yeah there's less weak spot that can break and cost money...
2020-04-01 11:24
Youre talking about saving money, but you have to get a electric car first, which is not cheap (not compared to other New cars ofc, but you mostly arent able to buy such a expensive car when youre in your early 20's). Besides that there arent enough loading Stations for that (imo and experience from my own City ). Having a silent engine is not my style, i love a good sounding engine thats why i drive a 2,8l V6 even tho it obviously wastes alot of fuel (12-15l 100km) but its worth it imo.
2020-04-01 16:45
i charge at home, and i don't make so much more money than when i was 20. and yeah if you need a loud car... idk what to say.
2020-04-02 02:24
Not incredible loud like a v8, inside my e-class it's pretty quiet as well, but it just sounds way better than a 4 cylinder.
2020-04-02 12:28
you tell me electic are expensive but i tend to disagree, on the long run it isn't, Just think , maintenance , fuel , insurance . on the long run you win. plus you're talking about V6, V8 wich consum huge amount ... 12 , 15L 100Km if you drive like old lady ... so yeah.. more like 15 to 20 if you wanna use that power you bought.. idk what to tell you, maybe fuel is very cheap where you are. here fuel is overly taxed....
2020-04-02 13:38
Even if youre looking at the long term, you have to get the money for a Electric car first and thats the key Problem. Me for example, only 21yo, doing a vocational education and only earns 700€ after taxes cant just buy a Electric car for 15k+ so i drive my w210 e280 that i bought for 3k (+some stuff to repair, round about 700 more) and im having a great car for cheap money. When i want to safe some fuel i can just turn on my cruise control with 120km/h on the Autobahn and only waste 9-10l. With my usual driving style i waste around 14l (mostly City) and im surely not driving like a grandma :D So im still fine, and in some years it's probaly impossible to drive big engines because it will become so expensive that it's not worth it at all. Fuel is pretty expensive as well in germany, thanks to corona it's around 1,30€ atm, usually around 1,40
2020-04-02 16:50
Sir you nissan leaf isnt faster than e46 330 bmw or old amg mercedes
2020-04-01 21:38
+1 xd Only tesla that has that really good torque and speed xd
2020-04-02 12:39
I agree with both of you, but when you'll mature enough you'll realise it's overrated. got 130hp on mine and i can tell it already enough since you have that power whenever you want, no need to be a the good rpm...
2020-04-02 13:25
i know u get the power directly to the tiers on electirc cars but srsly, 130hp wont do much u might accelerate too 60mph before.. we say my diesel audi but the audi wont be far back, and when u hit 60 mph with your electic ill pass you np
2020-04-02 13:35
60mph, is max speed on street, exept for highway, so going faster than that is useless... so what's the point of being fast ?! there's none ... Imagine a race on the street where you respect speed limit. electric car win by getting to max speed limit faster than diesel in any situation. as long as there's no highway ofc...
2020-04-03 06:11
no point in being fast, OK thats why they make hyper cars xD
2020-04-03 12:54
they make drugs, they make weapon, they make reality tv show.. they make lots of stuff that doesn't make sense at all.. including overpriced and overpowered super cars yes.. and btw if i had enough money i would be the first to have a supercars and drive it like a crazy dude on a racetrack.. but it still doesn't make sense to have it has a day2day drive... i don't understand why people are so mad about ev car... just look right now, every big city in the world have the lowest pollution lvl since industrial revolution... just think about it 2s. if you can think.
2020-04-03 14:56
i got 280 hp on my mercedes, u wanna race?
2020-04-02 17:32
My point is that you can't race on the street and power is useless . congrats, you have negative IQ
2020-04-03 06:06
why cant i race on the streets? and who actually follows speed limits all the time?
2020-04-03 12:56
that's something to be 10 km/h over the speed limit . but racing mean your going to go as fast as you can wich mean going well over speed limit, to the point that you would kill people or at best risk to loose your licence... don't be stupid, stupid.
2020-04-03 14:52
oki grandpa
2020-04-03 16:27
u know there are streets outside of the city as well? :D
2020-04-03 16:34
yeah ? so what's your point ? cause you're outside city it's okay to be over 80klm/h over the speed limit ? what's the point of racing if you can't really race.. and your "i got 280 hp on my mercedes, u wanna race?" Take any 280hp electric car, you'll loose any race btw. don't even try to argue this.
2020-04-03 19:47
yeah, 0-100 i will obviously lose, but from 100-200 will win that guy who has got more torque, it is not all about hp... and btw that 280hp battery car costs at least 5x more than my car
2020-04-03 21:32
only because it's a used car. and again maybe when you buy it it's cheaper, but to use it's not . maintenance fuel insurance. tax reduction from gov for electric car etc etc... just see the tesla with 1 million km ... never you'll use a fuel car that long ,motor will die way before that.
2020-04-04 02:09
Yeah now i see you know nothing about cars.. It is so rare to see tesla driven 1 million km. But if you take look in mercedes w123 and w124 from 80s and 90s, u see many driven over 1 million km, without swapping engine or anything
2020-04-04 09:07
that is actually true, my granddad had a w116 or 123, cant really remeber but he drove it so long it started counting over again
2020-04-04 12:05
yeah those engines are the most reliable in the world
2020-04-04 12:23
yeah, i would love to find a 123 or 126 in good shape for a good price. i find them so good looking tbh
2020-04-04 12:27
126 coupe (sec) is one of the best cars ever made i think
2020-04-04 15:50
#265
2020-04-04 13:31
yeah that's so rare because no everybody had enough time to get to 1million.... and w123 are not sports car(or gl finding one with a big motor still running, and at what price for an antiquity... , so they aren't stressed as much + those car are far far far away from the performance we are talking about ( remember you're all talking about race/sports car) plus you need to replace many thing inside the engine in order to keep it running at the power they had Day 1 (which i hardly believe you can) and let me tell you that even if you don't change the engine as you said. you have change EVERYTHING around it MULTIPLE TIMES !!! i was a mechanics long enough to know that ... apparently you don't. The telsa i'm talking about didn't change any engine. just the battery once... I'll had that ev car technologie are still kinda new, so it has room for improvement.. while fuel car don't. so i wonder who don't know shit about car.
2020-04-04 13:09
oh and the guys with the tesla with 1Mil Km Has a mercedes w124 too with 600 000km and he said he had 4 times more repair to do on it ... Look it up on google and stop trying bullshiting me with bad argument.
2020-04-04 13:30
i know w123 200d mercedes, driven 1 million km without "opening" the engine
2020-04-04 15:49
LoL yeah sure ... this is sorcery you have to change some pieces that get used because of friction and stuff... Come on use common sense...
2020-04-04 18:41
if you just change oils and ignition plugs, it is fine
2020-04-04 21:49
piston ring aren't invicible... generator, water pump same story i could go on...
2020-04-04 23:50
yeah and, i agree they are not sports cars, but tell me, ur battery cars arent sports car either, the 0-100 km/h is not only what is needed in sports car...
2020-04-04 15:52
yeah but top speed useless for any day 2 day drivers, as i said earlier. but look at the corvette ev it go over 350km/h 0 to 100 in less than 3s... i think it qualify as a sports car... it's just a question of time before ev completly crush fuel car on the performance...( i really think they do) Plus when they have batteri under the car the gravity center is lower which i'm pretty sure you know already had better handling... soooo..
2020-04-04 19:00
yeah but most of them are so ugly that nobody respects them, and u dont get the same feeling than when there is that v8 roaring under the bonnet
2020-04-04 21:47
well ugly is your opinion i guess i think tesla are fine , the corvette looks like a corvette... rivian pickup are fine too.. and yeah the feeling of being roasted by a ev isn't the same when you have a V8, at least when you are driving regular car it's less annoying... And your best argument so far, nobody respect them... woaw that's a smart way to think... can't believe that, people don't respect it ,so i'm gonna do the same because i don't think by myself

2020-04-04 15:49
Waste time filling a tank? Good one.
2020-04-01 22:02
yep, if in big enough city, you'll drive to a fuel station , you'll queue , get to the pump , fill your tank , queue to pay, then drive home. sometimes might take 10 to 15 min not all the time probably but still. I go direct home, i plug in. and when i wanna leave i unplug. it take me 20sec. and honestly not even 20s i'm sure. so yeah waste of time if you ask me.. especially here where i live, fuel is taxed as fuck soo...
2020-04-02 13:32
but not everyone has a station. and for me, filling up my tank is a matter of minutes.. not even talking about when I want to drive somewhere else where I need to refill.. good luck with that buddy.
2020-04-02 13:48
well i don't know how many time a year you go so far that you need to refill your tank ? isn't a tank let you go for at least 500km ?! so how many times a year do you need to refill your tank midway ? yeah not so much if you're honest ... Same goes with me , i rarely go anywhere that is over the range of my car, actually it happened once to me ... and my car range isn't very good... I work not so far from home i could charge my car once a week if i would drive more carefully, but i don't cause acceleration are great and i have fun respecting speed limit, but accleration a bit like a retard all the time...
2020-04-03 06:15
Yeah not often.. maybe 2 times a year. But what then?
2020-04-03 13:41
well in that case you spend 20min to 30min to recharge... that's the biggest problem... but is it really to take a rest while doing a long trip..
2020-04-03 14:50
>5k euro budget >electric car lol
2020-04-01 12:11
yeah my bad tho, I read 3K but in my head i though 30K. dude wants to by sports car, but have no money .... i don't understand the way people thinK... i have no money but i'm gonna buy a car that will cost me more than buy a more regular car (not even electric) you have no money buy cheap car that will cost less in insurance and fuel... People....

really depends on which engine you have. i assume you have an e46? i have 2 e36, a daily and a coupe for some special km/s. the engine is never ever gonna die and the small parts are cheap :)
2020-04-01 09:48
Ye here is my baby. imgur.com/gallery/r0FpAsn True parts are actually affordable but feel like insurance/tax is still very high. And what really bothers me is there's no tuning potential. Dont get me wrong naturally aspirated engines are amazing but i drive the 320ci with 170hp only and it's really starting to bore me :/

i suggest an audi a4 b7(i must stress, BPW engine version) or a vw passat b6. I am driving the Audi for 1 year now and i have nothing bad to say bout it. 7l/100km fuel consumption, decent power, 140 hp, not so expensive maintenace, very confortable. You can find a great b7 in Germany, i am sure.
2020-04-01 09:59
Hmm, just really not a fan of older Audis, they all look so bumpy and round idk how to explain, not my taste
2020-04-01 10:03
i dont like the bmws at all, so i guess it is a matter of taste. GL finding you car!
2020-04-01 10:06
True, thanks!
2020-04-01 10:18
Go with cheaper brands like Opel, Ford,Renault. I see people who recommend audi/bmw and realize they never owned a car. I owned audi/bmw/mercedes and all 3 brands, even the older models 2000+ are expensive to maintain. Go for the brands mentioned and your expenses will drop. Also go for a small diesel engine, 1.5/1.6
2020-04-01 10:03
Will never drive Opel again, Renault ugly, Ford? Maybe focus st or Fiesta st mk7 but they are bit more expensive. Like I said looking for sporty cars or with nice tuning potential

i never said its a bad car . Mercedes is one of the best in the world G63 is actually one of my favorites car , but there are always different options and seems like majority of people always forget about them . For example hyundai was pretty much a piece of crap but recently they made super good cars like the palisade
2020-04-02 10:10
>Cheap car >Any VW/BMW/AUDI If you want a cheap car to own, go for a Toyota. Yes it's boring but super cheat to own, few problems. If you can afford it and still want a car thats cheap to own, but a little more expensive to buy, go for Lexus.
2020-04-01 10:50
So Lexus is cheap to own? I'm thinking of buying an is series
2020-04-01 10:57
Yes, prices are similar to Toyota and very few problems :) I have had VW, BMW, Toyota and Lexus. No problems with the last two. VW had lots of problems, and my current BMW have had a couple.
2020-04-01 13:14
+1 for this guy, except VW he shouldve put merc,VW do break down but the difference is VW parts are cheaper than all 3 of those, i would check both VW golf/polo gti, maybe some seat ibiza/leon cupras (seat is pretty much under vw so a lot of parts will be cheap as well i guess so its about preference, cupras come in powerful, especially the leon one). if you want a reliable car, lexus is your choice to go but you will have to put some money on it since theyre not so powerful, i guess at least not where you aiming at, after all lexus is a daughter brand of toyota and toyotas are one of the most reliable car brands in the world.

2020-04-01 13:15
Not true, there are cars that fulfill both requirements
2020-04-01 19:17
Did you think about old 1.8turbo engines? it has 150hp stock, but can easily take at least 220 on stock internals. you can even go up to 500hp with a bigger turbo and some basic internal upgrades. since it was procuduced by audi/vw it got used in many cars, you can find it in vw sharan, bora, golf 4 gti, audi a3, s3, tt, seat ibiza, skoda octavia and many more. those are only the ones i have i mind right now ... there are a lot of cheap parts available aswell as cheap cars with low milage. but even on higher milage dont be afraid to pick one up, they are very durable

i said up to 500, i honestly believe that those engines can take 500+hp, there are many youtube videos of people, who reached more than that in a 1.8t thanks, im gonna tell him that a random guy on a counter strike forum wished him gl ^^
2020-04-02 17:11
AIXAM 400 would be a nice choice, pretty cheap insurance/tax and maintenance
2020-04-01 15:56
My advice for you is if you can't afford a flashy car don't buy it. I had like 15K € to get a new/used car and could easily get a used bmw or audi but didn't do that because I didn't wanted to pay insane costs and didn't wanna get a +100 000 Km car. You are always fucked buying 200 000 km cars.
2020-04-01 16:52
There's definitely more luck involved in buying high mileage cars but if u know what to look for when buying one i think it's alright. I bought my BMW 190kkm and only had to fix minor stuff in 2 years
2020-04-01 19:20
In 2 years you say.. unless you're planning to get a car every 5 years you will pay more than the car costs in maintenance / repairs very quickly. My bro bought a bmw for 13K and already put in 10K in 4 years time, just for repairs. And many of my friends have issues too.
2020-04-01 19:23
thats unlucky man, well like i said its definitely a gamble. but one thing is for sure, i will not buy a toyota prius because its cheap and reliable! i like good looking and fast cars and im willing to spend more money than usual for it.
2020-04-01 21:23
Well if your budget is only 5K you're doomed either way my man. Good luck and let me know what you decided.

You still need the pieces and they are expensive af. He's done many things himself and knows a lot of people in the car repair business.
2020-04-01 22:00
those pieces are not expensive af :D I have old amg mercedes so i know what i am talking about, if you buy normal w124 mercedes with 3.0 engine, u wont have to spend money like at all in repairs if you can just change oils yourself
2020-04-02 17:34
You're clueless my man. Look it up. Spare parts for mercedes, audi and bmw are the most expensive ones. They will break every 100 000 kms or so and you gonna have to pay a shit ton.
2020-04-02 17:53
it is acceptable to spend 2k€ in every 100 000 kms u really enjoy
2020-04-02 19:26
and as i said, as amg owner i do know what parts does cost, but i can tell u, old 3.0 benz is fun car and it never breaks, and even if it does the parts for that costs nothing

Ford focus 2.0 (after liftting) 145hp, or you can increase your budget for ST version (225hp) but then ur insurance will be higher. Fiat bravo 1.4 + turbo 140hp (150hp is little more expensive in maintanance). Both cars are ~5k, you can put LPG instalation to save money on them also. Ans you will have something different than another golf with 'redneck' tunning.

2.0Turbo 210hp (02-10) is literally one of the best engines. Worst and the most expensive problem is timing chain replacement, it costs about 3000pln here, so basically 15-20% of car's price (good looking ones are worth 15-20k pln) but you dont do it every year or two insurance for 2l engine is pretty cheap. ofc car has some problems with electricity and stuff, but it's not hard and expensive to fix. Also fiber radio is a bit crazy...

Wait a few months. There will be cheap cars all over the place, due to the current situation. Also: don't go for a Volkswagen. They are boring looking cars. Even the R, GTI and MK versions look boring compared to anything from Mercedes, BMW or Audi. If you only have around 5k to spend, don't go for a german car. Look through the asian brands.
