Valorant's success is Valve's fault

If Valve doesn't make some big changes, listen to the community, and actually show they care about CS then Valorant is gonna have a lot of CS players jumping ship. If Valve doesn't see this than I don't know what the fuck they are doing but seriously, they have to just swallow their pride and do the shit the community wants to keep them on their side because I'm 100% positive a large part of the CS community is going to at least try Valorant and I wouldn't be surprised if they stick around for the things that CS still lacks after all these years. Please Valve, CS has gone on too long for you to just keep neglecting it and allowing your players to be unhappy with the game's state. Nerf the krieg, fuck off with the player skins, do some changes to VAC/Vacnet and don't let this shitty Disney FPS game take over.

also, optimize the game so 128tick will work for shittier PCs and stop just holding off on an upgrade because of the effect it will have on potato pcs
2020-04-04 15:01
lol every update they ruin fps yet their main excuse for 64 tick is "potato pcs" dude if we had pcs that cant handle 128 tick how would they handle valves updates lmaooo
2020-04-04 15:18
This. So. Much. Hypocrites who argue 128 tick is hardware problem on our end. I bet $$$ is the reason, they would need to invest a shit-ton of money to upgrade their servers and I bet they're trying to delay this as long as possible. Thanks to Valorant we may see it earlier happen than valve management would like to.
2020-04-04 15:39
its not money
2020-04-04 16:59
you are losing that bet mate
2020-04-04 17:02
Hey, I've seen this one!
2020-04-04 15:02
Valorant and cs will appeal to different audiences. Cs will appeal more to people who want a more balls to the walls shoot people and don’t get shot experience, or in other words, a classic shooter. Valorant will probably appeal more to people who prefer to play a game with some more tactics and speciality. At least that’s what I suspect
2020-04-04 15:02
i dont think valorant will steal alot of cs players but it will be successful anywas, id say mostly people who played dirty bomb overwatch paladins prolly alot of league of legends players aswell since new riot game ye

Valorant will be just like PUBG etc. People will play it like hell for 6 months and go back to the games they loved playing before that

Completely different genre though. This is CS' first BIG competitor in forever. A lot of people will leave for Valorant and it's up to Valve to draw them back or keep them playing and watching CS

It's not about the genre, people nowadays play new games really intense for half a year to a year and then it the hype dies down.

But when the game they would usually go back to once the hype dies is a super similar game to what they've been playing for half a year then I wouldn't be surprised with the CS crowd just staying on Valorant instead of going to CS
2020-04-04 15:18
it is about the genre this game is designed to be played years up on years

A considerable amount won't leave if the game turns out shit. Neither CoD or BF has been a proper competitor at any other point in time than CoD4 and BF3. You really think Valorant is gonna be better than those games? I somewhat have my doubts.
2020-04-04 15:20
First of all why does it have to be CS or Valorant they will both be immensely popular. Valve is sitting on a goldmine they can improve the game greatly yes but even if they leave it it's not going to die.

I mean that's like saying why does there have to be Ford and Honda. Both can co-exist but that means there will be half the Ford owners there would be if it was just them. I love CS and have for so many years and I don't want the game that I love this much to lose the community it's grown over so many years. Valorant being as popular will mean less prize pool money because fewer viewers meaning a worse-off esports scene that CS thrives off of. Think about how much bigger the Dota/Leauge scene would be if one of them didn't exist. I'm going to try this game and even I might make the move after 7k hours in CS because of these glaring issues they've yet to address. Valve has the option to make CS continue to outshine it's competitors but it doesn't really look like they're going to do that based on their seeming lack of interest in CS over the years

A lot of CS players are 13 though. The game (and more specifically the esports scene) are gonna feel a hit regardless of the age of player leaving

And that sounds like a lot but Valve is valued at about $6-8 billion. They could do this shit in a few weeks if they pulled in some temporary workers

What's unique about cs is they they wont change the game for 10+ years and it still will be the most played fps shooter game lol.

A big reason for that is the lack of any competition CS had. If you wanted a competitive shooter you had COD which has been shit since 2014, TF2 (lol) or Overwatch that has always sucked. Valorant is so close to what CS is but with a lot of improvements people have wanted for 10+ years

yeah thats what I meant. 1.6 came out in 2004 or 2000 if you count 1.0. ever since then MW4 came out, TF2 came out, cs source came out none beat 1.6 lol with 0 updates lmao
2020-04-04 15:25
Yeah. Should they change basket ball to be played with roller blades too if they get a hit in viewer numbers :D CS is the only sport out there on e-side. And even this game gets changes put in to ruin it for people who learned it too well. Its like banning running fast in football.
2020-04-04 15:39
the thing is many hardcore CS fan like me are just tired seeing valve doesnt do anything to make the game playable instead they just updating new skins and operation which doesnt appeal to CS hardcore in general. They hardly ever update to their "gameplay" instead theyre just updating the game to be more "beautiful" by adding skins and operation

One million players with literally no competition. A lot of people will make the jump, I can promise you that.
2020-04-04 15:22
you can promise that as much as you cant. you have no idea how the game will be played or enjoyed, especially after the initial hype is over. just stfu and wait lmao

A lot of people jumped for many games in the past. After a few weeks most came back to CS:GO.

Whilst I fully agree with your suggestions for improving the game, we musn't forget that an almost 8 year old game is still by far the king of FPS games and is currently hitting 1.2m peak players on a daily basis - all of this despite it having major flaws. Publishers in the past have attempted to dethrone the biggest leaders in the eSports industry such as LoL and CSGO, and they did, for a brief period. The thing about CSGO is that it will probably never die, and these new hyped up releases like PUBG and Fortnite just went through a phase of immense popularity before falling to a stagnant player count that they will probably never get out of.

I get what you're saying but the reason CS has stayed on top for so long is a combination of the dedicated players but also the lack of any real competition. If you wanted a competitive shooter you had COD which has been shit since 2014, TF2 (lol) or Overwatch that has always sucked.

There's a reason it has no competition - the uniqueness. If you look at FPS games like TF2, OW, Paladins, Fortnite, and Valorant, they all look graphically similar and have these weirdly extremely polished textures. The recipe for a CS game has remained almost unchanged for the last 20 years, making it both authentic and unique throughout. Whereas all these other games just look like unimaginative copies of each other.
2020-04-04 15:46
The big downside about valorant is that there is no modding or any kind of community made things that can be implemented into the game, so all you can do is just play the game with modes provided by devs, so I doubt if the hype can last long without the community participation
2020-04-04 17:16
Indeed especially Anti cheat sounds promising. Check this out: m.twitch.tv/clip/TameRichHedgehogRedCoat Wallhack technically impossible? How incredible would that be?!?! Meanwhile Valve releases one fridge.gif after another.

Valve will give Valorant a few months or even a year to enjoy #1 spot and then get back the audience with CS:GO 2 on Source 2. It will work better for them than releasing anything before Valorant.

Delusional, remember when overwatch came out and ppl tought that it will force Valve to focus more on the game so they dont get outshined ? Or do you remember when the Epic Store started to buy exclusive games like Borderlands 3 and ppl tought that it will foce Valve to do massive changes to Steam ?
