All health care - corona or not - is a gamble, because you always have to prioritize, even in the richest countries. Every day doctors put young people before the old, or people in jobs in front of a homeless person, both on a patient to patient basis, and at a higher level, when funds are distributed. It´s a reality that every person in health care knows, but they don´t talk about it in public.
Imagine this choice: A new kidney for a young person with kidney failure, or a new hip for an 85 year old woman, or coronary surgery for a 250 kg person. It costs about the same, it will help the patient a lot, but you can only afford to do one of those.
If the health system holds, then the total loss of human lives will be the same.
Except maybe more dead old and people with "preexisting conditions" in heart and lungs - they will most likely suffer more in Sweden, because they are not being shielded as much as in other countries.
I don´t know which extra precautions Sweden are taking to protect the most vulnerable.
