so if the enemy team is really bad and u want to say "myötistä paskoille" it means in English: "I feel second-hand embarrassment due to the enemies being shit" "myötistä paskoille" "I feel second-hand embarrassment due to the enemies being shit" "myötistä paskoille" which is easier? Finnish > English

btw, how similar are Swedish and Norwegian? do you understand each other?
2020-04-08 16:51
Yes, most of the time. Some words are different, such as neighbour; nabo (norwegian) and granne (swedish), but most of them are quite similar. We understand most of written Danish too, but spoken is very difficult to comprehend for us.

Australian is easy, I think some middle of nowhere British isles accents are the most difficult. Especially if spoken by some young uneducated boy from a working class family.

is it possible for romanians to study french? it's like a swede studies norwegian? easy?
2020-04-08 16:38
I think Spanish/Italian is easier to learn for a Romanian than French but still it won't be as hard as if I start learning French.
2020-04-08 16:43

After romanian and english, the next language we learn in most schools is french so yeah..But many prefer italian or spanish because they are easier for us( and for this reason there are so many romanians in Spain and Italy)
2020-04-08 16:53
oh yeah but i thought french and romanian are closer to each other than the others...
2020-04-08 16:54
because both have a large amount of words and grammar from latin
2020-04-08 16:50
i think they are from romance/romantic language tree specifically edit: lol i didn't know that romance languages are the same as latin languages
2020-04-08 16:53
yeah no its latin
2020-04-08 16:53
The most spoken Romance languages are Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Romanian. They are called "Romance languages" because they originate from Latin, the language spoken by the Western Roman Empire.
2020-04-08 16:53
well thats a stupid name, why not just call latin latin
2020-04-08 16:54
romance languages suggests it would have something to do with the romantic period en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanticism
2020-04-08 16:54
yeah i don't know but are you sure that romanian is a latin language??? cuz im not 100% sure...
2020-04-08 16:55
yes en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_language biblestudy.org/maps/peak-of-roman-empire.. the area romania is now in was known as moesia to the romans and they colonized it quite early. around 25BC they colonized Dalmatia (serbia, bosnia, croatia), around 40 AD Thrace (Bulgaria and northern greece and european part of turkey) and around 100 AD they expanded into what is now central romania. so basically it was conquered right after gaul which was fully defeated around 50 BC. youtube.com/watch?v=w5zYpWcz1-E

The best language in the world. Paras kieli maailmassa. Kieli is also tongue :D
2020-04-08 16:40
Not the best example really, because tongue can in some cases mean language in English as well, but it's not that commonly used For example: äidinkieli = mother tongue

I bet 10 year old finnish kid can spell 99.9% of finnish words. How many english words can native english speaker?
2020-04-08 17:05
English is 100% easier because no words like "Lentokonesuihkuturbiinimoottoriapumekaanikkoaliupseerioppilas" exists also nobody would say that, they would say "I feel embarrassed for the enemies"

English is a lot easier at least if you come from any country that is also speaking a germanic language.
2020-04-08 17:07
Because it's your native language so that's why it's easiest for you.
