if you have a good cpu i think its worth it
i have i5 4670k at 4.2ghz and it gets about 150-250 fps which looks very smooth to me on 240hz screen, but maybe if you have lower hz screen or get less fps it will make the game unplayable, idk. it might also be some issue with my pc that i havent been able to solve. when i played with multicore on i often noticed i got csgo'd and bullets didnt connect at all, since i play on 1 core it happens like 10x less, but of course it could all be placebo, i dont have high speed camera to actually film it happening and make a good analysis
i could write another essay about why low fps looks smoother with higher hz screen but shortly it comes down to total screen draw time being lower with only 4ms for 240hz screen compared to 17ms for 60hz screen. if you have lower than 144 fps with 144hz screen you will sometimes notice that there is a delay when a frame isnt on time. if the frame is a bit delayed and the delay happens at an unlucky moment, so that during the delay, your crosshair will be drawn on the screen, you will get a repeat of the previous frame instead of new information so youre effectively playing at 72hz.
but with 240hz i dont notice this, the screen refreshes so many times per second that as soon as the frame is available it will on the screen immediately, so 150fps doesnt look bad at all. even if a frame is repeated its still 120hz.
also dont see any screen tear
