you can keep slandering instead of having a normal conversation if that makes you feel better, we already have welfare, like all EU countries do, but it seems that you dont anything here, and you havent read a single fucking thing about this, the ubi thing was planned before the crisis, this has just been in talks now of how fucking convenient this would have been if we acted earlier. reagardless of the fucking ubi existing or not, we still need that money, unemployment unevitably SPIKED, because we literally shut down our country, and now spain needs to hand out 1200€ to every working person, and paying that for ourselves will just break our economy so hard that we wont get up in 10 years. this guy just placed the 2 articles together and now youa re all acting like we asked for the money to waste it in ubi when we really just need it for welfare and keeping our economy afloat. Spain has had a worse government than Italy for the most part the country functioned better while the government wasn't working which is funny but Spain is still a mess, massive amounts of unemployment and a fascistic leader that had the police beat up old women who went to vote for their region to leave Spain. I don't think it has the funds to create a UBI especially after the EU is done with this giant mess they created and Italy leaves basically meaning it's France and Germany funding the rest of Europe to exist.

I'm aware. The current spanish government has not in any way or form brought up the catalan issue. Several organizations with no ties to spain classified it as a crime against humanity already, has your government addressed a puta mierda joder jorge crime against humanity? Didn't think so.
2020-04-10 14:00
Letting Catalonia do that is against the constitution and you need 2/3 of the parliament to do that so it's basically impossible
2020-04-11 10:39
Why is it impossible? Are most spaniards both retarded and support oppression?
2020-04-11 13:10
There are several countries within the EU including Denmark who have sent a bunch of medical supplies, respirators and even field hospitals to Italy.
2020-04-10 12:10
The EU is indeed there for economic stability, but the problem here is that the richest states in the EU pay for the poorer ones already, and Spain is in the group who pay less and get more already. So if some nations with no or little budget defecits critizise the idea it's more than justified as one can only ask oneself, where did the money you were already given go?
2020-04-10 13:34
do you realise than Italy is a net contributor to the EU and Spain is at an even balance? Plus there's also France vouching for eurobonds.
2020-04-10 14:17
please do show any cumulative metric of spain being a net contributor to the EU, because I sure as hell have never ever seen one.
2020-04-10 14:46

Tax revenue per person in "tax haven" the Netherlands is way higher than in Spain/Italy because we simply have more economic freedom and therefore more prosperity
2020-04-10 12:02
?? the Netherlands is considered a tax haven cause of it's effective corporate tax policies and the way they syphon out other euro countries' tax revenue. I understand economic freedom and I'm all for it, but It's kinda amusing to do that (while being in a monetary union...) and then having that idiot Hoekstra calling us out.

Actually we have relatively high corporate tax rates 20% and above 250k in revenue it's 25%. We just don't tax certain things such as royalties. Countries competing with each other with tax rates is a good thing and should be embraced.

You know why a country like Italy have to many cases? Cus the region that got the most cases got a huge number of workers from China. Did the Italian government shut down their borders? Did they check the Chinese ppl traveling to Italy for Corona? My guess would be no. Also i have heard storties about your fucked up health system, no wonder you have many cases too. Also why dose number os cases have anything to do with your country being poor? And i quote; ''As little as twenty years ago, tax evasion was a way of life in Spain and almost encouraged. Not any more! During the last decade, Spanish taxes have increased dramatically, particularly income tax. Although overall taxation remains reasonably low and is still less than the EU average, the gap is closing fast'' So you have been living with tax evasion for how many years? And then you go cry to EU when you dont have money?

you dodged every question tho, and i was typing my post. that nursing home bullshit was on some private nursing company, not spains fault. the number of cases doenst have anything with my country being "poor" (i cringe at that) but the country having the most cases and strictes lockdowns WILL make my country poorer, thats why we are asking for help, wont deny that before we entered euro, this was a shitshow led by mr aznar (bush friend) and a lot of corrupt politicians led us to a worse 2008 than the rest of europe, but the current govt has nothing to do with this and like you said we are catching up and repairing the mistakes of the past, we are now a modern country and deserve modern country treatment, that is a lot of misinformation and country slandering by someone who hides their flag btw.

You dont think other countries are on lockdown???? And modern country treatment would be to raise taxes if you want so hand out money that isnt there. Not begging for money from someone else, and expected them to bail you out again. Also i have it really hard to find sympathy for a country that had tax evasion as their national sport for decades. Imagine how much money you could have had to spend on the general population, if you weren't greedy? But now you expect us for pay for your shit. Also im not hiding my flag, i just like my Brunei flair. And i dont really see why my home country have anything to do in a thread about Spain begging for money, again.

Negatieve depositorente geeft banken geld? Vlgns mij is het tegen overgestelde waar
2020-04-11 12:07

it was already known, that it was human to human transmissable by air, that some people are infectious before showing symptoms, and that some people take more than 2 weeks to develop symptoms. both our governments did not do jack shit before it was way too late. they knew about the situation. but they decided it was better to wait and let thousands of people die, instead of closing the borders, so the rich people who pay for their political campaigns got time to take their money out of the stock market. viva la revolucion.
2020-04-10 16:32
so now loans equals paying for someone else?
2020-04-10 13:44
they arent just asking for loans. they can borrow 800 billion euros right now from the EU govt at good terms. what they want is a different type of loan, where the credit score of the whole EU region is used, instead of their own countries credit score. this would improve their credit and lower the credit scores of economically strong countries in the bloc, because we will be responsible for paying back this debt as 1 bloc instead of it being countries individual responsibility. obviously, this doesnt make any sense for netherlands and germany to accept. spain and italy want a free ride. we have been giving them free rides for 50 years already. time to get their shit together.

Why would i do that. If it is necessary i will stay inside for the next months and eat rice + eggs only. I don't know how stuff is in spain but here in Germany all you have to do is stay inside. It's not so hard. If you don't have corona you just sit there and do whatever. It's not cold, you are not starving and you have privacy. Overall far better then in the military or in jail.

Why would anyone bring me food? I bought my stuff begining of March and went out of house 2 times to resuplly. WTF are you talking about fresh groceries? You can buy your shit once every 2 weeks. You don't have to leave the house every fucking day to buy some fresh shit ... It's just laughable. Was here talking about coronavirus in January and people didn't give a fuck. I understand that it is hard if you have a bunch of children in the house who now can't go out. I also understand that these families need money because they are most likely financially irresponsible, otherwise they wouldn't have a bunch of kids without financial reserve. But whoes fault is that? Someone just had to have some kids -.- Sorry I sound heartless but I have only limited sympathy for them. Spain should just take money from EMS and give it to them.

yeah some guys just had to catch the flu, that made some (60%) companies cease operations for 3 months, and leave all their workers jobless, how do they dare have families??
2020-04-10 12:31
No, it's about how you can have a family if you didn't even have enough money to go a few month without a job. It's not like people couldn't see that coming. Wimbeldon paid pandemic insurance for 20 years. They don't have a problem now. Bill Gates warned of it for almost 10 years. sbnation.com/tennis/2020/4/8/21214031/wi.. It's just that people don't give a fuck. People just wanted to fuck and have kids. Wanted to buy that new car and house by taking debt. They just want everything now. And then they turn around and demand money from state. If they would have saved money they wouldn't have a problem now, would they?

Also dont try to tell me than Spain borrowing form EU affects you directly in any way, you have saved up havent you?
2020-04-10 12:45
No, it doesn't affect me but it's a matter of principle. You have to understand that for years Germany has not made any new debt even so our own federal states came crying left and right to our government for new money. Money for new infastructure? Nope. Money for schools? Nope. Money for military? xaxa joke. How do you think it looks to our citizens if our government is now giving cheap money to far less responsible countries when they wouldn't even give money to their own federal states?

no, im not, im form aragon, and old kingdom that once spanned from the pirenees to naples and athens, catalonia, valencia, mallorca, sardinia, we joined in 1492 with castille navarra and granada to make spain, caatalonia was literally a part of my kingdom (they call it cataloaragonese crown) they stole ancient museum pieces and claimed to be theirs, and write their own history books to bullshit children from a young age, then capitalize on it just beacuse DICTATOR FRANCO chose to ubicate the industries in cataluña, thus making it a richer (not that rich) region, and now they want independence, i really couldnt care less, give it to them, but its really heartbreaking and selfish what they are doing,
2020-04-10 13:08

on a personal level of course its not bad, i study from home anyways, but our economy literally STOPPED, and seems like you just want us to be poorer, if germany just borrowed 150 BILLION EUROS, how is not Spain, the 2nd if not the most affected country get a fuckign piece of that? why do you assume that im living paycheck to paycheck? i honestly probably make more money than you, for me this is just an inconvenience, but it is only logical that the average citizen cant pay for all of this extra expenses without anything that supports him, and its only logical that the EU aid injection needs to be used like this, if it isnt, tell me PLEASE how do you use it
2020-04-10 12:36

I'm far from being a Vox voter but it's undeniable that this government of PSOE and Podemos has done a really bad job, and before you tell me that PP would have done worse, it's likely that they would have done just as bad, but worse is literally impossible. This government did literally nothing until the situation exploded in our own faces. Not only that, they even encouraged people to go to massive gatherings. Please don't blindly follow the 'it was unexpected' narrative because anyone who followed China's situation (and then Italy's) knew this was going to happen. We can't get better if we don't have self-criticism. Now, that doesn't warrant what these 'northerners' are saying in this post. Yes we have a shit government, yes we could have done better in the past years, but they're clearly unaware of the difficulties we've been through all these years since the last economic crisis. It's too easy to talk when it's a problem you haven't experienced.

Please google what the opposition (the same ones in the government now) said when we brought back that guy from Africa who had ebola (and a nurse got infected). And that was just one person. Now we have 15,000+ deaths, I've been told my whole life to not to do something I wouldn't like to be done to me, this government deserves all the criticism they're receiving and even more. We just have shit politicians in every party and none of them is worth a damn. It's a shame that we're here insulting each other like if this was a football match and we had to defend our team like if there's no tomorrow while the guys in charge, from both sides, do whatever they want for their own interests (which are not the same of the population). Or do you think Pedro Sanchez is going to resign after this crisis like when he was asking Rajoy to do when the ebola thing? of course not, he is going to tie himself to his seat if necessary.

EU have paid you more than what you have given back for years and years already, what are you on about? Spain has been partying and spending more than what they can afford for years and years on end. Look at Finland, they have been saving and have a 6 month reserve of food and medical supplies just in case, and look now who knew that was a strategical move. But I guess it's the mediterranean mentality to blow your paycheck the same day you receive it on coke and the disgusting smelly jamón that the flies are shitting on in the supermarket for everyone to see.

2020-04-10 13:46

Spain is paying the debt Covid-19 is what made Spain ask for more money, it has nothing to do with spending it on coke. Other countries will know if they can give Spain more money or not
2020-04-10 13:50
Spain can borrow more money, its not a problem at all and has never been. Spain crying for solidarity so that the whole Europe has to pay for Spains past parties by pooling all debt together in eurobond is the problem.

Because the right wing was the one "attacking" catalonia taking down their own laws saying they were against constitution (but same appears in other communities inside Spain and they don't give a shit). The party winning elections in Catalonia before was a pro catalanist party, but they didn't ask for independence per se, just to have more power to create their own rules in some matters as a nation inside Spain, when there was all this problems they turned into pro independence with moreless same representation. By the way, people who wanted Independence, exist since a lot of decades, but maybe it was more like 1/3 of catalonia a decade ago, but who cars, right now we are on this all the world together, so we'll have time to discus other matters in the far future.

The government has reacted like shit to the situation and now they want others to fix it? Nah, get fucked. They literally knew it was coming and they didnt do shit. Everything they have done during this period is to try to push their political agenda and avoiding the blame for the situation. Spain deserves to suffer a crisis for having such a shit government, maybe that way people will stop voting for idealist parties. On the other hand, if Spain and Italy fall, the euro currency will suffer a lot, and I think it will be ultimately more beneficial to aid with coronabonds to boost the economy (instead of a period of autarchy, which as seen after 2008, didnt work out). However, I understand other countries wouldnt want to help, since they've done their job correctly.

Depends of its profitability against labor as any other technology. Being high tech does not mean it is the most efficient mean of producing available due to decreasing marginal returns. Which means there will always be a combination of labor and machinery along the structure of production, since human labor is the least specific input of all.

2020-04-10 13:14
it was very funny 8M and casually 10 days later we are fucked

Spain is a autistic society my friend, virus was 1 week before 8M but they decided to shut up and don't say it's was potentialy dangerous... Look at this video: twitter.com/CasoAislado_Es/status/123914.. It basicly says that don't worry about coronavirus or holidays to enjoy 8M.
2020-04-10 13:20
Yeah i speak spanish and this woman is a shame, if she had dignity she should retire from tv rn
2020-04-10 13:22
they did a mistake on that with the 8M, but its fine to maintain all the sports league with the stadiums crowded by tons of people kkkkk
2020-04-10 13:34

I'm catalan, and the thing is not how you watch on tv.... It's like germany in 1940.
2020-04-10 13:41
?? what does that mean
2020-04-10 13:48
I didn't watch it on tv, I was there with my Catalan girlfriend at the time while it happend. I personally saw a spanish chorizo jump from stairs on the head of an old lady.
2020-04-10 13:55
I hope Merkel remains firm in her position. Spain's reaction to the pandemic is laughable. Let them reap the consequence of their idiocy. No bonds. The EU is not a charity.

I think you should inform a bit more. This is not an UBI per se, is just that the gov is gonna give 500€ to everyone who's unemployed (just for 3 months) and have no salary at all (or under 200€ x month). Same is happening in other countries like Canada. I mean, Spain have insurance and the gov pays you if you get fired, but for every year that you worked you earn X month of payment if you ever need it, problem is this is expiring for some people, and since they cannot search for a job, this is a social measure to help those in need. About the eurobonds or help from the EU it's obvious that this is an exceptional moment, what's funny is that the north don't want to help because they think they are smarter but in some weeks they will be in the same position with a devastated economy and social fabric, so who cars. We're all fucked up and what EU and all the countries should do is start to print money and give it to the people for "free", is better to have an inflation than death by starving when all the system crashes. Something super funny is when countries like netherlands say EU shouldn't give money to south when they are rich thanks to the "dutch sandwich" stealing money from all the EU countries... EU should step up in social measures, but it's clear they won't do a shit, so it's better to remove this shitty institution so everyone can manage their own currency and measures.
2020-04-10 13:37
No one will starve because the system crashes. Just let it crash. This system is cancer and it has to go anyway. Still better then getting inflation on top of crashing it.
2020-04-10 13:51
A person who can understand basic politics has been spotted . There has never been a monetary union where there wasn't money transfer from richer to poorer regions and for a good reason. Up until the Eurozone happened . The south should just leave the Eurozone or even the EU all together and form their own union . Sure they won't have a hard currency but at least they can have their own monetary and fiscal policy based on their needs and the north people will understand that they are the ones benefiting the most from the euro when they won't be able to sign trade agreements on equal footing with the US and China
2020-04-10 13:52
Either the South is so important to EU that we can't sign trade agreements on equal footing with US/China and therefore can nagotiate "Eurobonds" or the South is not important to EU and when they leave we still can sign trade agreements on equal footing with US/China. But you can't have the South being super important for EU and not important enough to give eurobonds.

It's the same on the Catalonia affair. I don't know who is right or wrong, but it's clear they had a problem and it has no sense at all that EU step up on a conflict on Asia or any random African country giving them sanctions and shit, but when it's inside the EU they don't even try to speak to both parts to find a democratic solution that could work for them. I mean, is not just that EU don't work on the economic field, it doesn't work in social or any other purpose. Same happened in 2008 crisis, north countries could handle it better just because they didn't care about the south ones, and while the south needed to print money and have some inflation north didn't want that, so at the end, some like Greece turned in failure to let Germany feel less impact... It's like you buying AWP and full utility every round when there's a poor guy playing with pistol because he have no money for an smg...you're gonna have more frags, but the team is gonna fail at the end, if everyone buys instead of doing eco or throwing rifles to other people when you have enough money. Or the world change to a more community place after this, or we're gonna be really fucked up with far right parties everywhere.

Inflation means there is too much money chasing too few goods. It means there isn't shit for you to buy. It means people that save for contingencies like this have to pay the price for the irresponsible behavior of profligate motherfuckers.
2020-04-10 15:07
You can say thanks to EU . 2 months atleast with the virus and EU still dont know what to do. Spend 16 hours in a reunion and dont have any conclusion Just end with EU, only benefit a few countries.

Bailout logic is insane. So the savers and prudent people of the world, those that dont overindulge when things are good have to pay for the profligate spenders when shit hits the fan? What kind of fucking justice is that?

Which is retarded too, in a moment of crisis we need to rearrange the economy towards people's most urgent needs, not keep value destroying businesses and jobs afloat at the cost of everyone else.
2020-04-10 15:15
The logik of EU is diffrent dude For example : We Greece cover with our airforce 3 countries , cause they don’t have military . We spend hundreds millions just for fighters to fly . Why we have to do that ?? Cause we are in EU . Now if we have a problem and these 3 countries say : I don’t give money , it’s not unfair ?? And that is only 1 example

I don't think you should cover for anyone, in fact the EU for me is a tragedy. A tragedy for all responsible people in european countries.
2020-04-10 15:35
If solidarity don’t exist and anyone have to act alone there is no reason for EU . That’s all I hope after all this shitshow with covid EU will collapse and other Unions will come . Whoever speaks and thinks only about money and not deaths don’t answer at all.
2020-04-10 15:30
Spain can get money. 10 years are at 0.75. Wanting Eurobonds to push it even lower and take money of the credibility of more financially responsible nations is egoistic. EMS money is also there to take. And Germany is taking bad patients from other countries to our hospitals.
2020-04-10 15:31
EMS money it’s Loan . Also can you tell me a reason why EU exist if we don’t act together and help each other ??? If you google it a bit you will find that Germany have the more benefits from EU , we Greece don’t care about Eurobonds cause we have only 70 dead , BUT thousands die Italy-Spain - Sweden soon we will act like that ???? So why EU exists ?
2020-04-10 15:38
Ofc. EMS money is a loan. It's a loan with a low rate and the money for it is mainly provided by Germany/France and Italy. That's what countries want with their Eurobonds. Cheap money. It would be crazy if you would get the money without having to pay it back. Like Germany paying 200 billion just for the lolz. EU exists primarily to form a shared economic zone which is able to compete with other big trading blocs without getting taking advantage off. Germany-France relations and shared military exists as a stabilising mechanism within the EU to prevent war. Germany has a lot of benefits from the EU but is also by far the biggest contributer so i think it's 50/50. In any case, Germany would be fine on it's own or in a trading bloc with France. Eu does not exist so Germany/Netherlands can pay for the South. You guys always talk about helping each other but when has Spain or Italy ever helped Germany? It's always the same nations doing the helping and always the same nations getting helped.
2020-04-10 15:52
In massive problems like pandemic and only in this cases we have to give free money yes , to save lives . Entire Europe didn’t asked 1 cent from Germany when WW2 ended and we let you rebuild your nation even if you killed millions of us . That’s why EU exists , now you will help , tommorow someone else , we only live 80 years EU will exist for thousand .... An example As EU we have military , what exactly military have without France - Italy’s and UK army ???? Nothing UK left .... without this Union you think we are safe ???? Or 18 tanks of Denmark will save you ??? Just before 100 years we had world war , don’t tell me it’s impossible
2020-04-10 16:04
Maybe you should read up on that. Poland and Greece are demanding money even today. Netherlands demanted to anex some territory. Greece got money etc. etc. Millions of Germans had to work in forced labor for years, not only in USSR. Anyway, the story you tell is nice but not true. Now Germany will help. Tomorrow Germany will help. 1 year from now Germany will help. 10 years from now Germany will help. That's how it is in the current situation.
2020-04-10 16:19
You can google and find the agreement of all Allies to not ask you money to help you . There is an agreement you know ... Don’t accept something real it’s not our problem . It’s ok we disagree , so for better of everyone EU have to terminate . No reason to exist anyway
2020-04-10 16:27
Aye, let's terminate it
2020-04-10 16:31
ah and btw. the Allies are not Europe
2020-04-10 16:40
You know what I mean ... Also yes Greece and Poland ask for money cause we ruined entirely , the Nords and rest villages just surrendered . But if we continue all this shit it’s pointless we just disagree .

Do you know why Netherlands is a rich country? I'll give you a hint, is not because they work harder than Spain or Italy. If you scam tax worlwide that should be paid in other countries is really easy to say south is not working enough and cry because you have to return them a small portion of the money you scammed on the first place. By the way, Italy and Spain are not big receivers of money aid from EU so stop spreading misinformation. cdn.statcdn.com/Infographic/images/norma.. You said that germany doesn't receive money from other EU countries but their benefits are something like 50% thanks to other things, so why do you cry so hard on this post? Just ask Merkel to get outside the EU and have fun with..france? The ones that are asking the same is asking Spain about eurobonds, lel. Is germany helping you for having 20iq?
2020-04-10 17:36
yeah lets all be friends with russia china and usa im sure thats good thing and not like all these nations exploiting the situation to divide the EU further than it already is. step by step and u literally eating out of their hands. GJ especially loved the part where china exclusively sent masks to italy same with those russian doctors. im sure this was all to just help the nation. out of pure selflessness.
2020-04-11 01:18
That’s why I said solidarity inside EU nations , cause without EU we are weak against those 3 you said . And no these 3 never will be friends ... if you are weak they eat you
