We know how much pistol rounds are important to a match and we also know how it pretty much always turns up to be a crazy slaughterhouse - rush, aim, shoot and hope for a headshot. Considering that chosing between kevlar and utility maybe the main reason behind this (as someone posted on the Thorin's thread), what do you guys think about kevlar (1-no helmet) for free on both pistol rounds? I think it would be a good way to make teams work their strats better with way more utilities and way less firepower. What do you guys think?

No, they are awful. Run and gun, little strategy, loads of rng, cheap swarming tactics, terrible, easily the lowest skill round of a game of CS.

But im right, they are antithetical to the rest of the game. Its why teams will win the pistol, then the next 2 and get crushed something like 11-4, they are actually a shit team that got some lucky RNG in the pistol round. Pro pistol rounds are pug pistol rounds with better aim.

Because Kevlar + p250 is already very good and you see players sacrifice armor to drop p250. If you have free Kevlar everyone can buy a p250 smoke flash and that’s way to op for T’s

imagine that you could buy helmet on pistol round. sounds awful. it would create more opportunities for different types of strats for sure but i think pistol rounds are supposed to be those kinds of rounds that its almost all about aim

But its not really about aim is it???? The glock isnt accurate while standing still, but it has no real movement penalty, meaning you just move and aim roughly around the head and hope for the HS, if you watch pros on T side they are playing to not get hit not to land accurate shots, thats not demonstrating any real skill. The pistols in general are too accurate when moving. You see it all the time in pro games, players crouched slowly tapping at the centre of their targets head and the bullets just keep missing.

Ofc it isnt accurate.... can You imagine holding a site with 2 ct vs 5 USP Ts. Its all about strategies and choosing the right fights. The Glock is best used up close in numbers. So if You use the Glock as its supposed to be used its fine.

No, you dont balance a gun with RNG like that, if you want to make it lack ranged effectiveness then add in more damage drop dont make it so it misses HS when you aimed correctly and then sometimes hits random HS when you werent aiming at their head. Dont balancr guns by adding RNG, it makes the game more random.

Thats one of the factors that sets csgo appart from other shooters. Most guns are shot from the hip, there is an actual spraypattern to master and there is bullet inaccuracy. I think inaccuracy is good for the game but i dont like it myself. If there was no inaccuracy better players would destroy Worse players every single time.

it's good as it is if you'd give teams free kevlars they just gonna buy tecs / p250s and smokes on their T side if you'd give more money to them and limit them to only being able to buy pistols and else it'd have the some outcome as the previous one

It waste money and it takes severe retardation to fall for 5 decoys. Unless you throw them in dust 2 long or banana on inferno. It would only work in specific areas with low visibility

I would remove the blip on the map it creates. We don’t have blips for smokes or nades so why decoys? I think a team with goods comms could use the sounds for decoys to an advantage. Imagine throwing deocys from long to catwalk and flashing over long you could trick the CT’s for a Brief couple of seconds. It’s very situational

I think the blip has been removed for hostiles. There's just the sound now, maybe there's a blip if you're looking at it. It makes it semi-viable in theory, though I've seen nobody using it. Such as faking holding an angle with an AWP. Inferno mid, if you get smoked off you could fake a spam through the smoke with a decoy while relocating the actual AWP. It's incredibly niche and not that useful but a potential use for it. The only other really practical thing I've seen with decoys is dropping your primary weapon, throwing a decoy and picking up the primary again, to make the enemy team think you're playing with only pistols. Any decent CS player would know what the enemy team is buying anyway, but it might be viable somehow.

It's been around for ages, it's something I learned from some Youtube-video when I started playing in 2015. It could make the CTs think you're on eco while you've bought up SMGs in reality. Shouldn't give you a huge advantage because the counter to pistols is about the same as the counter to SMGs, but it might cause confusion. Then there's the classic "buy 5 decoys and throw them to A, then go B" that actually has worked for me a few times in the lower ranks. I also like to switch it up by "buy 5 decoys, throw them to A, go B, rotate to mid and go A anyways". Hilarious.

it can be used to block noise Qs. if you throw 5 decoys in T side inferno to mid and your team has SMGs the guys in mid will have alot more difficulty hearing steps in apps and second mid. thats one of the examples

I’ve had the opinion to completely throw away the pistol round and just start with guns, maybe a low amount of money only enough for Galils or Famas’s with armor with little utility then go from there. Then OT be nothing but pistols. Idk, would be cool to see pistol rounds not fucking matter anymore. Always hated the concept and literally can change the make up of a game. Just stupid.

While I don't agree with much said, it would be fun to have a mode that you can customize OT in order to make it pistol-only or rifle-only (no utility) or utility-only, for that matter.

If kevlars becomes free, terrorists gonna buy p250 and running headshot everyone. Imagine you're defending long on Dust while 5 fuckers run out of box with p250s and 10 flashes, whats your chances ? I mean, it removes CT oneshot advantage and make pistol rounds disbalanced

The best way to fix this to make pistols inaccurate while running and laser accurate while standing, this forces players to engage in proper duels, not just run, jump, ADAD and spew bullets.

That’s just not true. Look at Astralis/Liquid/Navi and how big of a difference putting strats on pistol rounds make a difference. Literally Booms calls on pistol rounds are on of the reasons Navi shot up in win %. You win more than half of your pistol rounds in a game in a 3 game series that’s over 9 rounds won just off of having a better economy. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but in the terms of statistics, it is a fuck load when added up to multiple best of threes in a tournament.

pistol rounds are one of the most fun cuz you can give crisp clean hs kills. to reduce rng they should buff first bullet accurace but nerf recovery time and running accurace. Also you dont lose too much after pistols since next round you can force and have almost the same equipament as the oposite team, many team win the second round.

Most teams buy SMGs and utility if they win the pistol round. Since it's more likely the other team will force buy kevlar and SMGs of their own, they might as well buy rifles to better counter the kevlar. That's how a lot of teams win.

But that would maybe mean the T-side would get a plant, lose, have one survivor. That is an AK+ armor and perhaps scavenged utility. I think it is a start to think of new ways, but I don't think this is fully there yet
