BenQ XL2411P still worth it?
 |
Europe im_we
It turns out my new video card doesn't have DVI-D, which is what my screen has, and only comes with DisplayPort which is what my screen doesn't have. Since active Dual-Link DVI-D - DisplayPort adapters are unreasonably expensive, I thought I would just change the monitor. Is BenQ XL2411P still a good option or should I find something else? I can get it for 187 EUR which doesn't seem too bad.

What makes it better? Also, does FreeSync work on Linux?
2020-05-07 20:31
It's an IPS vs a TN panel. IPS is superior in almost every scenario. Freesync does work under Linux but may require a little more work to setup.

Are there any other 144Hz+ IPS screens that you recommend?
2020-05-09 15:01
Maybe the bigger brother AOC 27G2. If you want a higher resolution there's the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD and an LG 27GL83A-B. If you want 240 hz there's the LG 27GN750 and a MSI MAG251RX. All of the higher res/higher refresh rate ones are quite expensive though.

Ah cool. But it has a weird style, I don't think it would fit to my room. Also, I'm guessing it must be very expensive.

Are there gaming monitors out there that are just plain black? That's why I like my XL2411. No bullshit, just the screen.

So what do you recommend?
2020-05-09 21:26
bro just dont buy aoc 24g2, because its not true 1ms for fps games you'll see ghosting if you are familiar with panels. you will need 0 ghosting in fps. GRG 1 ms is what you need. (not mprt 1ms) xl2411 is still the king of budget. And you only play fps you dont need freesync or any kind of tech. that causes input latency you need lowest input lag. but if you have money you can go with benq's DyAc tech monitor. new release xl2536. you want ips+high hz you will find most of them mprt response rate which is i dont recommend. If you re only playing games not doing pro visual rendering or something you can go with TN not worth paying more more bucks on a IPS panel with high refresh rate. The only recommend i do for you is dont just look hz+panel type also check its response rate type. Is it MPRT or is it GRG (if not specified more likely GRG) but if its MPRT they have to tell you so dont buy MPRT response rate monitors. YOU WILL SEE GHOSTING compared to GRG rr.

I rather prefer having a bigger response time than my eyes bleeding from shitty colors, but I understand that for pros playing only fps that doesn't matter

According to my research, this will only work for 60Hz. And that's a shameful refresh rate if you ask me.

that monitor is trash, no.
2020-05-09 22:07
For CS i would recommend any TN panel that has a displayport in. Even HP has been getting in the market with some good deals with the 24x and ViewSonic has some nice options in the VX line. IPS panels were recommended earlier on in the thread, but the lower end ones do tend to have some input lag compared to TN tech :() IPS does have superior color quality, but purely for competitive cs gaming tn is the way to go

Kind of related to OP: I'm about to buy a XL2411p, however the user manual says that this monitor only displays native 144hz in full HD. I play 1024x768 (4:3). Is there any workaround to make it display 144hz in 1024x768?
2020-05-10 00:30
I am using 1280x1024 res on cs and I am playing with 144Hz, I am pretty sure that it will work 144hz or higher on lower resolutions. My XL2411P has worked fine.

I was able to run >100Hz at lower resolutions on DisplayPort lacking XL2411 before. So this shouldn't be a concern.
2020-05-10 12:37
I have this exact monitor and it works fine for me. I would check other options just in case, but the monitor is solid for it's price and I am happy with it.
2020-05-10 00:39
I have it for a year now. Cheap and does the job. Very responsive, fluid at 144hz. Colors are horrible out if the box but if you tweak the settings they are good enough. If you can’t be good with the Xl2411P, then you won’t be better with another version either.
