Sharks is a Br team and only lukern is argentinian from that team so idc about them. Im just saying that to top teams it took like 2 years or whatever to beat liquid while sharks took 1 match. So chill dude, im not saying what they achieved, just talking about the topic u were talking about: how much it took to the teams to beat liquid.

Furia will kill Liquid
2020-05-08 00:06
Anyone with a working brain knows Liquid isn't dead. And this result has nothing to do with it. Liquid has three top 10 players on their roster who've performed at that level for two years now on LAN. That doesn't just stop unless they get old (they aren't they are younger then anyone in the top 5), or some major internal rift happens. Which hasn't happened. Them disappointing at the end of 2019 was only disappointing relative to them winning what six events in a row. They were making finals into December. They've played one LAN in 2020. So unless they've all forgotten how to play CSGO they will absolutely be a player going back into LAN play. Obviously. Now some teams may have gotten better in the interim. But that doesn't really change the facts on the ground.

If you are adressing anyone with basic human ability to think you may need to look elsewhere! ;O) (Of course they're not "dead" ... oh dear. I haven't seen any team or any human for that matter who doesn't "fluctuate" in life, performance, strength etc.)

I know. CS community is full of experts who have like literally zero clue. But every now and then some people are fun to talk to. I can't think of a single great core that just went through the games life with no issues up to and including Astralis/Fnatic/SK/NiP/the French/whom the fuck ever. But yeah. Major will be interesting. Astralis being Astralis. Revitalized Na'vi and Fnatic. Mousesports. Possibly EG with Zews. It's impossible to state now who's going to be performing at peak level then. But that's the interesting thing about teams like Liquid and Astralis. Their peak level is higher then pretty much everyone else's. So you catch them when they are down or you get the dick. Ups and downs.

Yeah, and I think FaZe may finally have gotten some structure to their "head under arm" style of cs with Ynk added: They can possibly challenge the top as well. And maybe even Furia? They've shown signs of life lately!

Think the scene might be stronger now then it's been since like early 2017. You are right. There's a lot of potential contenders. And more will emerge as the year wears on.
2020-05-08 05:06
I think it is a combination of Liquid falling and other teams rising more that means they can no longer rely so much on their individual skill to carry them (not saying they didnt have the structure or tactics, they just didnt use them as much as lets say Elige's fragging power for example). I haven't watched much Liquid but i still think their main issue is not setting up Twistzz. He is a better entry than Stewie imo both in the eye test (my opinion) and statistically last time i checked, second only to Elige (who i'd rather come in second to mop up). Stewie feels like he could be an excellent lurk and Nitr0 a main AWP. Instead of switching it around can they just finally set roles rather than who is available and willing. I dont mind CT anyone awping but Liquid do sometimes buy a T AWP and having one person do it couldnt hurt Again haven't watched Liquid for a bit so this may have changed.
2020-05-08 00:16
3 replies
I've actually had the same though about Twistzz being used as an entry player rather then on the wing. But end of the day it's their team I suppose. He's their tertiary volume fragger. I suppose they want him up post plant more often then not. From that perspective I get it.
2020-05-08 00:21
2 replies
He is a very clutch player ill give him that. But i think he can bring the explosive entrying Liquid require, and having Stewie on the lurk imo would be so fucking perfect because he's very smart and can adapt very well.
2020-05-08 00:22
1 reply
Honestly would be pretty interesting, Stewie does AWP a lot, and I think in those scenarios EliGE entries sometimes. Maybe they've considered it but we don't know.
2020-05-08 00:39
Its not that Liquid are bad, its just that they set the standards so high up in 2019. They were literally GODS and its very hard to replicate those performances, especially for T1 pros.
2020-05-08 01:34
3 replies
Yes you hit on a point here. Going into the last major TL were quite literally the biggest favorites heading into a major ever. The entire scene was terrified. Then a player break happened and that momentum was diminished. It can come back but it will require the players to make it happen.

We need LANs for Liquid to perform. Liquid are really shaky online so Im worried for their match against FURIA. Still they have improved online performances so we shall see.
2020-05-08 05:05
1 reply
Yeah they look like a team that stopped caring about online results a year ago. On some level I feel for them. Anyone can beat anyone online. So if you are a team with the talent to be the best in the world you are always working from a disadvantage online. Especially versus explosive teams like Furia with little to lose. It'll be an interesting match regardless however and I have no doubt really that Liquid will end up in the major regardless of the outcome.

And even that top 5 team part is an overstatement. They don't have the capacity to be a top 5. I don't think they even have a player thats worthy of a top 5 in any role. Grat one of the worst awpers in top 20.

I already see the gap tbh. NA teams have that puggy feeling while EU teams you can clearly see a lot more innovation on strats.
2020-05-08 01:36
Playing vs NA even mibr looks good
2020-05-08 01:15
I am a huge Liquid fan and will support them no matter what but I don't think that in an international sense they are on the same level as some teams. Historically they have been able to beat everyone besides Astralis, but times are changing and they won't be able to play these teams in the near future so it is is impossible to tell. However, with the inconsistency, they have in group stages (3-2 at both EPL11 and R2Rio) they won't stand a chance against the Europeans. If they can win all 3 of the NA road to rios then they should be in a good position to take top 8 at the major but I doubt they will do anything significant against teams like Fnatic, NaVi, Astralis who have all been playing each other (top 5 teams) and been getting better. TLDR: Its impossible to tell if Liquid is dead because of COVID, they are inconsistent against NA teams but still win tourneys.
