Philosophy sucks
immuNe |

Every time I start to think about philosophy, I end up feeling sick. I'm convinced that had I never known what philosophy was, my life would've been considerably better.

"if I had never known what Philosophy was my life would be better" I believe the term you're looking for is "Ignorance is bliss" and it really is. It's the same with politics and being in tune with the news. When you're a moron and you have an okay life you can be like hmm yeah my life is good but when you've got an okay life but you know your government is trying to make your life worse and their life better you start thinking like well my life is good but it could be shit.
2020-05-25 14:37
Same In order to get my diploma I am required to take philosophy, I hate it

its ok being a simp le man Kappa such a simp le man is fine Kappa
2020-05-25 13:48
Have you ever tried to start learning it?
2020-05-25 13:49
It's bittersweet. It's like eating junk food for many. It feels fantastic in the moment, yet afterwards one feels intense guilt.
2020-05-25 14:04
I agree but still, it clears out a lot of delusions which is a good thing imo
2020-05-25 14:12
You don't "clear out" delusions just like that. Delusions are a very serious problem.
2020-05-25 14:15
Now it doesn't look like you ever read any philosophers.
2020-05-25 14:30
Now it doesn't look like you've ever read up on the formal definition of "delusion".
2020-05-25 14:45
Definitions are a relative thing that can simulate in the frames of discussion.
2020-05-25 14:48
If that's the case, then you can't actually tell me what I know or what I don't.
2020-05-25 14:54
Of course, I can't, I can only presume
2020-05-25 14:56
People like you who use terms incorrectly and create mass confusion are a serious problem right now.
2020-05-25 14:56
And why do you think your definition of "delusion" is correct?
2020-05-25 14:59
"your definition" If you think that it's mine, then clearly you should not even be using the term in the first place. You're the type of teenager who calls themselves "bipolar" for the reason that they can't get along with thneir parents.
2020-05-25 15:02
I called it "yours" because you're using it (or would use it in different situations) and not because you create it, it's a difficult concept but I think you'll get there. The second part of your comment is just senseless calumny.
2020-05-25 15:10
It is beyond obvious that you have no idea what a formal definition is. What a delusion is exactly has been determined by psychiatrists and should a belief meet those established criterea, then it is formally to be recognized as a delusion. Just as what a kilogram is is defined by the kilogram standard. It is per definition a certain magnitude of mass. You can come up with your own nonsensical definitions and attempt to convince others to accept them if you like, though I strongly doubt that you'd have much success, given that the current definitions were chiefly set by a collectivity of inidivduals who specialise in the field of what they're trying to define. Thus, for clarity sake, these definitions are taken for granted. All you're doing is confusing others with your pseudointellectual bullshit simply for the reason that you're some kid trying to be edgy.
2020-05-25 15:18
There could be several peripheries where a word can be described differently depending on the context. Look at the metaphysical definition of "free will" and then look at juridical. Who of them are confusers?
2020-05-25 15:29
Small detail, this is a psychiatric term we're looking at here. Psychiatry, being a medical specialty, is a scientific specialty. Incoherent definitions are not accepted.
2020-05-25 19:28
There is also a philosophic definition for "delusion" so why should it not be accepted?
2020-05-25 19:40
There is not one. "Delusion" is strictly a psychiatric term. It is not such as "stereotypy" for example, which has different definitions depending on the field it's being used in.
2020-05-25 20:13
There are several meanings of the term. It can mean "fallacy", "misconception" and more.
2020-05-26 13:30
Because philosophy sucks I get it
2020-05-25 19:41
Because science sucks I get it
2020-05-25 20:14
Didn't say that.

The opposite actually, since alcohol is for those who already have no brain, so they drink, since they have nothing to lose anyway
2020-05-25 14:17

Philosophy is interesting in itself and the great philosophers were indeed great, the part that sucks are the modern day retards that think they are smart when they ask their friends "does this table exist" and then go on a complete word soup adventure of shit on how the table you're both sat at doesn't exist. Philosophy on it's own is just the quest for knowledge.
2020-05-25 14:34
"ow the table you're both sat at doesn't exist." Yeah, that's the problem. That's the worst experience imaginable to me. Feeling like the world isn't real is psychological tourture.
2020-05-25 14:41
philosophy is the dumbest scientific discipline.
2020-05-25 14:38
philosophy isn't scientific to start off
2020-05-25 14:39
it is considered as one.
2020-05-25 14:39
which philosopher considers that?
2020-05-25 14:40
WHo cares what philosophers consider, if scientists don't consider them as being scientists, they aren't.
2020-05-25 14:42
The first thing you should look at is self-determination
2020-05-25 14:45
It's not even a scientific discipline, it's a waste of time. Philosophy is what you study after you bomb out of Physics.
2020-05-25 14:39
shut up and enjoy life
2020-05-25 14:42
". I'm convinced that had I never known what philosophy was, my life would've been considerably better." Then you're in for a treat.
2020-05-25 14:46
What you don't realise is philosophers=politics In ancient times philosophers were from rich families and their job was to talk on speaking forums for money

Philosophy is the truth You know what they say, the truth is a Cruel Mistress Smart people or maybe even bored people start thinking about it, and when they do its sad, because the truth is sad.
2020-05-25 15:12
What exactly is the truth?

That's the price of intelligence, sadness. The truth is sad and so is the world and some intelligent people come to wish that they were idiots so that they would be spared the pain of existence.

big +1, you could be intelligent enough to know the truth but try to ignore it and keep moving, but sometimes its hard
2020-05-25 15:47
Only to a certain threshold I'd say. Also, depends on one's fear perception, I imagine. I find the idea of reality not being real severely terrifiying, while many others seem to find that not so alarming somehow.
2020-05-25 16:31
The thing i dont understand about it is why the hell opinions of Socrates, Nietzsche, Descartes etc. matter. I also have my personal opinions on some matters just like everybody else but i am not as famous. Wtf? Isnt philosophy about thinking? why does someone's personal opinions matter that much to be given as lectures in the fking universities?
2020-05-25 15:44
Those guys are famous because they were amongst the first (if not the very first) to write down certain theories . You dont have to care about it all, most people dont read Socrates and co. but their books are there for you if you are curious.
