who's the greatest conqueror?

Mehmet II or Alexander the Great? I think Alexander was epic, but Mehmet II changed the course of modern history. Besides she shut down for good the dying byzantine empire

2020-06-03 20:47
ottomans hold these lands for 650 years and alexanders empire didnt even last 30 years. alexander conquered also very divided and poor places and only ruled for 5 years. Mehmet II opened a new chapter/era in history by capturing Constantinople what was the world's capital back in that time. Alexander was a tactical genious and warmachine. You can maybe compare him with Djengiz and Mehmet II with Napoleon

About the Roman empire, yes, but not directly to Rome. If I recall correclty he died before getting there, but they did strike several roman dominated cities... I was trying to remeber (even tried to search a bit) as to why they wanted the roman empire so bad.. I feel that it wasn't just gold, there was something about a marriage or something... do you know what i'm talking about?
2020-06-03 22:15
He was about to take over Rome and all of Italy but when he entered Rome a pope came to him and talked with him. And after this talk he suddenly left and didnt take over Italy. Some historicans say that he was spared the capital becouse the pope convinced him that Rome was already in pieces and there is nothing to loot. Others say atilla's army was suffering from illness. And yeah about the marriage , some historicans say that he was murdered by his wife. And others say he had a nosebleed and choked afterwards ( poisened). I think he died from being poison. Im not sure , i wasnt there xDD

LOL haha From what I've learned, he was deeply loved by his followers. Who and for what reason would poison him and how did they managed to do it? As for the reason of the 'retreat' we've learned it was from poor supplies (being already way too far from their campain posts) and infections/diseases spreaded at europe at the moment, also they wanted constantinople.. i just don't remember on what order everything happend. thanks for the knowledge my friend
2020-06-03 22:31
ye he was loved by his followers but dont forget he had also much enemies. and since no one had the balls to fight him , i wouldnt be suprised if they poisened him. the corruption part is still up on debate, there are a lot of accusations but nothing yet went further. every major brazillian politician faces charges of corruption, you can never know if it's true or the opposition trying to make them look bad. both situations happend already. as for bolsonaro, some people like him because they feel that without him we would go back to far leftism and a big part of the population don't want that. when he first appeard as presidential candidate, he sold us a lot of promises related to security, economy and others that we craved for for a long time, but he was actually stopped to do many of the things he promised by the oppositions that also got elected on the same year or the ones that was already elected earlier (we have ellections every 2 years, for different positions). Here, the parties have to negotiate the number of 'chairs' they will give to each of the smaller parties that supported the main runner up in order to get elected. If you don't, your bills and other stuff won't get enough votes to go along. That's where he got fucked up - a lot of politicians that supported him during campaing turned their backs on him as soon as he got elected, for various reasons (mostly, his own fault), so everything he does, good or bad, gets hated on. individually speaking, he has no decorum to act as president and is more like a living ideal than an administrator. the people that still supports him are ready to eat his shit for dinner if he says so, but the disapproval rate is increasing by the second. Brazil's problem is not the president, it's the political system as a whole - We have hundreds of parties that makes affiliations with eachother for increasing their chances of getting spots on the government. This creates a scenario that you might be the most righteous person on earth, if you do not compromise and go along with what the polititians already there want, you won't be able to do shit. Very often, those small-time polititians are getting richer being bribed by companies with dubious interest. Our adminstration is separated onto 3 spheres. -legislative: creates the laws and such -judiciary: enforces the law and such -adminstrative: runs the whole thing The president is the main character of the administrative power, but he has almost similar power as to the head of the other two. He is able to decrete emergency state for instance and overthrow the other two, but that would be a hell of a coup. He did changed the commander of the Federal Police (somewhat comparable to the FBI), some say, because they were advancing in investigating his sons. Not proved yet, albeit being extremely fishy movement.

But why is every brazilian on HLTV are very anti-bolsonaro? And didnt he describe corona as ' just a flue' but Brazil is now one of the epicenters of the world? What is he doing to stop this outbreak? And the leftist argument, i heard this alot. And people say that there is no other candidate to vote for. The others are worse then Bolsonaro they say.

*But why is every brazilian on HLTV are very anti-bolsonaro? - Because he gives a lot of reason for people to hate on him, haha. If you look closely you'll see that whenever a Brazillian badmouths him, another joins the party just to call them 'gado' (cattle, sheep) and dispute their opinion. 'human people' do not like him, while 'logical people' do. I for instance do not agree with this bashing against him even tough i didn't voted for him myself. *And didnt he describe corona as ' just a flue' but Brazil is now one of the epicenters of the world? - Yes, that is one of his major fuckups. He actually believes that in order to stay alive people need to work first, take care of corona if needed. He's got a point, some people are starving because they rely on their business (we have a lot of people that makes a good living by selling shit on the streets, for instance), but corona is still a huge problem. He isn't doing much, the governors of each state are (provinces). Another fuckup on his part - he wants to reopen the market as soon as possible. About leftism, the president before him was Lula, once held as the most 'upvoted' politician EVER. He did a lot for the poor and the country grew a lot under his command (12 years of it, more if you count others from his party controlled by him). He was in jail until a few months ago on A LOT of accusations. Some say, it was all orchestrated by the people that put Bolsonaro on presidency, but other says that he only agreed with bribery because that's the only way he could pass the bills he wanted (see what I mean about our political system?). In order to help the poor, Lula fucked up with the lower middle working class like.. BAD. There was a time that people quitted their jobs just to start to receving handouts from the government because it paid batter. It still is more profitable to have 4 children and declare bankrupcy than to work on a medium level paying job. These working class people and upper are the ones that usually supports Bolsonaro. On that ellection, it was supposed to be Lula against Bolsonaro, but he was arrested and put his 2nd man as runner up (Fernando Haddad), that lost on the second turn. We are in a transitory spot. The main opposition is stil PT (Lula's party) but they don't know yet who to put as candidate. The others, already tried a LOT against and never won, people do not like them either.
2020-06-04 00:05

+1 Call me biased but to defeat two of the world's 3 strongest empires at the time and to completely topple one of them and take 1/3 of the other while also allowing for another 3rd to be taken by your successor is nothing to laugh at. His empowering of the caliphate allowing for the spread of islam also affected the conquests of other ghazis down the line like Mehmet and Timur.

The teach about the ottomans in general, sometimes about 2-3 sultans in off-handed comments from teasures about Mehmet Suleiman and the last one (the other mehmet). Nothing about timur tho. The most siazble portion is pre-islamic history, then the caliphates in general then colonialism and modern history after that.

are they positive or negative about the ottomans? i heard that the arabic education system is very anti turk. they describe the ottoman time as ' turkish occupation of arabia' xDDDDDDDDD while ottomans provided a second golden age for the islam and muslims :DDD

Depends on the teacher, if they are islamists they will tend to be more positive for obvious reasons. Nationalists on the other hand to end to associate the ottoman era most with its decline in power, in Tunisia amongst the liberals and nationalists especially there' still bitterness about the intellectual decline the country suffered after all the scholars left for Constantinople and they hate the fact that the ottomans did not do enough to protect the Maghreb, with many seeing the OPDA en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottoman_Public_Deb.. as the ottomans selling out those territories to the colonialists to ease it's own debts.
2020-06-03 22:13
Why did they hate the ottomans for the fact that they didnt protect maghreb? Arabs got brainwashed by Uk and France in the early 18th century and sided with them during ww1. They got baited by european powers to get independence and look at what all these countries have become xDDD even palestine sided with UK. Zionist tried to buy jerusalem from Abdulhamit II for enormous amount of money. Wich they could close out the debts we had but he didnt. And after that arab nationalists sided with Uk and stabbed us in the back xDDD And look now. There is almost no palestine left and no rich arab country helps them. they rather but their oil money in Arsenal or Chelsea or golden toilets. arabs are ungratefull unfortunately.....

That's very disingenuous to say ww1 was 20-30 years away from most of the Arab's world colonization and the Arab revolt was only 50k out of millions who stayed loyal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Revolt#:~:tex.. As for the ones that did want independence can you blame them? See it from their POV, The Ottoman decline was obvious and in the last half-century the empire was unable to protect Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Yemen and had Russians march to the gates of Constantinople. The reformers in egypt intervened to try and take over but the europeans wanted to keep a weak ottoman empire so they can still abuse it. The Ottomans were constantly losing and outside powers were deliberately keeping and for the longest time it was unable to protect its holdings, so they had to protect themselves. Also consider this was during the young turks coup as well, flip the scenario, would you a turk want to live under an arab nationalist regime if it was the other way around? Edit: Also what do you mean brainwashed? The only time Arabs cooperated with the west under ottoman rule was the Arab revolt and even that was small in scale.
2020-06-03 22:28
The arabian revolt happend becouse people like Lawrence of arabia brainwashing arabs. The ottoman decline started in the early 18th century. The european and russian powers knew that the only way to decline the ottomans were to break them from inside. So they send their secret agents like Lawrence and pretend that they are muslims/imams. They brainwash arabs and make them nationalistic. They say the same things as what your saying right now. Would a arab live under a turkic empire? GO AND FIGHT FOR UR OWN INDEPENDENCE AND LET US STEAL UR OIL AFTERWARDS was the real plan of these fake-muslim agents. The ottoman lands were begging to find oil and gas and that was going to be a major economic income for the ottomans. So since they didnt want to go a war with us they break the ottomans from inside and make them very fragile. You think if the arabs and maghrebs from africa stayed loyal we would have lost these wars? We won our independence after the WW1 and why do you think we didnt get any oil or gas fields? They all kept the oil and gas fields in arab countries becouse they controlled these lands. Its not about living under a turkic or arab regime, its about why are you siding with your enemy?

What? This sounds like straight up propaganda, where are you getting this from? And you keep saying Arabs like its a general term???????? There are 29 Arab countries and not all of them have oil, even the ones had some it wasn't discovered only way after they got conquered? Some were even never conquered by the ottomans like morocco and oman. You think the french invaded Algeria for oil IN 1831????????? Also you say that countries like egypt betrayed but you were the ones that sided with the west in the first place against them? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriental_Crisis_of.. >>>On the verge of total collapse and defeat to Muhammad Ali, an alliance of European powers comprising Britain, the Austrian Empire, Prussia and Russia decided to intervene on behalf of the young Sultan Abdülmecid I.
2020-06-03 22:44
Did you even read the article xDDD He started to create a state within a state. This was the main problems during the decline of the ottomans. And ofc not every arab nation had oil. But is it not weird to you that every oil fielded countries were a mandate of UK and France? And why they started to invade these places? There were more important places to be invade for example the Bospurus ( wich they did later but got humiliated by us) . But when oil and gas was founded in arab counties , they started to invade becouse it was a huge income and a very important resource to have. And with arabs i mean arabs who believed in people like lawrence of arabia. Not everyone was a traitor you had also arabs who were not 3iq'ed. I am not blaming everything on the arabs or others the ottomans had also his weaknesses but during the reforms, things were going to change and modernize the empire. For example you know that one of the first airplane/aircraft was made in the ottoman empire? But then war and everything happend. But after the republic we build the one of the first aircraft fabric in the world but it was closed shortly after that becouse we had a traitor-regime called kemalism. It was forced to shut down by the Europeans or they were going to put sanctions. And shortly after that USA build boeing and dominates the air-industry now. Wich is a very big income for their economy and development. Imagine what as islamic world could have done if that fabric wasnt closed by the Europeans. And imagine what we could have done if we didnt seperate. All of arab world would have looked like abu-dhabi or dubai if the Turks could control the oil money. What is more important? Building a new country for the palestinians and fund them with money so they can send their childrens to schools or buying virginity from european girls or funding Arsenal and Chelsea. A club from UK who bombed the shit out of the middle east and stealing oil and is the main founder of Israel. very big YIKES

A. so it's okay for the ottomans to conquer the mamluks when they were weak but if it's the other way around it's wrong? Also please understand timelines. 80% of the Arab world was colonized before ww1 why do you keep bringing up the mandates and the revolt WHEN IT IS NOT RELEVANT? Not every Arab is from the Gulf and not every Arab was part of the Arab revolt. How are the mandates relevant to Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Oman, Libya or Egypt or Sudan? It's like i'm saying one thing and you're saying one different thing. Also why do you think Turks can manage the Oil revenues better than Arabs? Gulf monarchs are very corrupt yes but an Arab state like Iraq was very modern and had a GDP similar to Turkey before the American invasion in 1992. In 1990 Iraq's GDP was 180B and turkey was 150B, google.com/search?q=iraq+gdp+1990&oq=ira.. google.com/search?q=Tureky+gdp+1990&oq=T.. Edit: Here is what i want you to do if you say that the countries above fell away because they betrayed the ottomans then prove to me with historical evidence, otherwise your point is irrelevant.
2020-06-03 23:20
You seem to not know a answer to my question: Why did the arabs sided with UK and France? Did they really think that they would get independence xDDD? There is a reason why we dont have oilfields in our lands. If we didnt divide , we could have the oil fields in our lands and make a stronger muslim nation. Every nation has his own qualities. Turks were good and strong leaders and arabs/persians had a big influence in the empire in terms of religion and culture. Arabs are not so smart in ruling and all the smart leaders like Saddam and Khadaffi are being murdered by their own people xDDDD also simulated and funded by the west. It is true that we had a shit economy back in 80's but that is the past. We had a military regime that is named kemalist regime. But Erdogan has jailed all these kemalists ( thank god ) . And now we have better GDP. Our peak was 950b and now its like 800b becouse of sanctions from everywhere. I am trying to say that with the oil and gas money arab/muslim world could be much stronger. But they are spending their money to golden toilets or to jewish clubs. Unfortunately. That is why many turks hate arabs btw

Ok why do you not understand my own answer? Why is France and the UK relevant to the parts of the Arab world that didn't side with them like the ones i mentioned. Saddamn was murdered for Shiites loyal to Iran and Kurds siding with America mens((((( And Gaddafi died from the lobbyists in washington wanting to do to him the same they did to Saddam and take all of Libya's oil. I also Agree that the oil money can be better used and i understand why Turks maybe don't like arabs for the Gulf but why hate Arabs from Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Yemen ETC ETC ETC who don't have oil?
2020-06-03 23:29
Becouse arabs in maghreb area are no different then these in gulf area. They have the same behaviour. I met one guy from tunesia and he say i rather be fucked by french mandate then living under turkic rule? And he was proud that he speak french and he would rather speak french then turkish. And he said then majority of the maghrebs think like this. And it was confirmed when i met a another morrocans/algerians who said the same. Look at egypt and libya right now. Egypt is taken over by a pro-western puppet named sisi and he is ultra anti turkey. The same thing almost happend in Libya untill Turkey intervented and now haftar is crying and begging for help in france and egypt. And now can you answer my question for the 300th time: Why are these arabs spending their oil money to jewish soccer clubs and girls from europe instead of funding palestine and building schools and hospitals?

Because they have no oil money? We are not the gulf dude. Also Dude was probably trying to piss you off deliberately. And you base your opinions on 3 people? The guy that you probably talked to was a francophile, a dying breed here, mostly replaced by nationalists who dislike Turkey for different reasons being that they are extremely pro-independence and arab unification, but there are also many who like turkey due to the growing influence of Islamists.
2020-06-03 23:44
But why are the nationalists hating turkey? Are they atheists also? That wouldnt make sense since Erdogan is allied with probaly the most ultra-giga nationalistic party in the world ( MHP ). They are even forbidden in some European countries. But Erdogan himself is also nationalistic-islamist. But he isnt like pro jihadists or pro sharia. He and many turkic leaders before him wanted to create a G7 and a european union but with muslim countries. But no arab country wanted to join xDDDDDDDDD And after that turkey turned his face to European Union and now arabs are saying Turks are no real muslims xDDD We wanted to create a similar thing such as EU and G7 but no arab country wants to join. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-8_Organization_f..

Most of the Arabs that can join are either firmly under American control like the gulf or are deprived from such through the soft power of debts etc from the EU. For Example the EU forced to close down our nuclear research department even tho it was only for energy purposed by threatening to stop the IMF from forgiving debts that we accumluated in the first place because of the unequal treaties they forced upon us. Imagine we had to BUY back our own lands. But as to why arab nationalists don't like turkey they were neutral at first and many were even friendly but since the events following the Arab spring many have turned hostile because it supports the pro-islamic leader vs the nationalist party, they had an incursion into northern syria etc etc But the main reason is Kurds, many especially in Iraq have had to constantly keep fighting peshmergas that the PKK is supporting and agitating because the Kurdish regions in Turkey are no longer as militarized, many see this as Turkey wanting to offload pressure and involve other states in controlling Kurdish nationalism so as it isn't as damaging to its own economy. Also from what i understand MHP is for Turkish nationalism right? That could also be a region of conflict with Iraq because of the Turkmen minority in the north. The two nationalisms are not necessarily compatible. Also you asked if they are atheist some are, some are not. Depends on how leftist they are.
2020-06-04 00:08
The PKK has been a headache for Turkey for 40 years or so. But there is a difference between kurds in syria, iraq and kurds in turkey. Kurds in syria and iraq are being brainwashed by the western countries. Similar thing that happend to arabs during ww1. The kurdish regions in syria and iraq are being controlled by USA and guess what. The regions that they controll are full of oil fields xDDDDDDDDDD What a suprise :D:D:D:D. And if you are poorly educated and you have no gouverment you will get brainwashed very fast. But most of the kurds in turkey are not like that. Its a very small group in Turkey ( PKK ) that wants a independence but the majority dont even want to seperate from turkey becouse they know that it would be a next iraq or afghanistan. If you ask 10 kurds if they want to seperate from turkey maybe 2 would say yes.But they are right though. Under a kemalists regime Kurds were 2nd class citizens and had very little rights. But under Erdogan they got more freedom . There are kurdish tv channels, radio's and you can speak kurdish in public. He has many kurds in his party and gets alot of votes from kurds.

Nah not that i can recall, i mean that he had an affect on him on the matter of his faith. The effect is more indirect but as the first great ghazi he would have an affect on others after merely for the fact that he was the one to allow for the islamization of Persia and consequently for Timur being Muslim.

They are as in they are from the Eurasian siberian steppe, but they are what is knows as Uriankhats or Forest dwellers, their language in in technicality a mono-turkic langauge but it's far more closer to Oirat and Old Mongolian. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uriankhai Also Subatai himself while not a plane-dweller or "Mongol" originally would become a mongol prince later. Edit: His father, grandfather and brothers were also allies and generals of the mongol horde according to wikipedia.

I should mention that this regard the Tuvans in general and their history as a people in general, most of the Tuvans in what is now Tuva proper as part of Russia are Altaics, but for most Tuvans under the late Qing rule were ruled under the same province with mongols and generally melted into the wider mongolia during the warlords era. There are 4 classification and for the most of their history Tuvans or Mongol-Tuvans fell under the "southeastern" category because of its proximity to the mongol core as more people can live there because geography. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuvan_language#Cla..
2020-06-03 23:19
but djenghiz horde and empire was kinda turkified anyway. he spoke turkish most of the time , he gave a turkish name to his capital and his army was 80% turkic. doesnt matter tho he was very babaric

Depends on what you "Classify" as Turkified, do you count Jurchens as Turks or close to modern Turkish? Because hell then China is Turkish because of the Qing and Jin, Japan is part Turkish because of the Ainu, hell why not the Phillipines, Vietnam, Thailand are all part Turkish because of the Yuan. Malaysia too.
2020-06-03 23:34
modern turks are not even close related to Turkic people. real turkic people live in oezbekistan and kyrgyzstan. you can defenitly see the difference between a turk living there and a turk living in Turkey. But what is really funny is that the west says mongols and turks are barbaric and evil. But alexander the great gets titled as ' The Great ' while he also very babaric and murdered many innocent people. Same thing with the vikings. They describe them as legens while they were no different then djengiz army in terms of killing

Because it's all a matter of perspective, no one wants to admit that they are in the wrong, the west glorifies Alexander and demonizes the Genghis because humans are naturally biased. Just like in Mongolia Genghis is a great leader and a unifier and in China Qin Shi Huang is a great emperor who unified China and not a tyrannical king who wanted immortality. Everyone wants to make their history look good.
2020-06-03 23:47
Yeah but in the history books they are being titled as Alexander The Great and turks and mongols as barbaric and evil. They make a serie about viking and making them look like legens while they murdered and raped millions of people.

Qin Shi Huang. Conquered all of the territories that created the China of today in an action to bring peace, a common language, roads and a stable economy to many different states at war for years. He then claimed himself emperor and that title held for more than 2000 years. He's the one that started the great wall. Maybe not the greatest conqueror in terms of battle, but he did so much more to keep and flourish what he conquered.

idk, i wouldn't count mehmed II as the greatest ottoman conqueror, although he was imo the greatest ottoman ruler all around (and one of the greatest ottoman conquerors), and the conquest of istanbul certainly had a huge impact on world history. selim I, for example, conquered literally half of the middle east in a couple of years and in only two battles, so i think he's more similar to alexander
