AMD on laptop monkaS
2020-06-30 11:44
It is desktop AMD Ryzen in a laptop, google it So 3-4x better than Intel laptop CPUs
2020-06-30 11:45
Not about performance but heating issues
2020-06-30 11:50
AMD heats less than Intel, you stayed in the past, dude. Check out latest benchmarks Typical TDP for AMD 65-105W Typical TDP for Intel 125-180W
2020-06-30 11:51
Idk dude, but anyways laptops heat a lot.
2020-06-30 11:53
Yes, if you hold it on your lap or directly on the table, but if you lift one side by 3 cm using riser, than cooling works fine
2020-06-30 11:54
friend of mine bought r5 3600 a few months ago and he has insane heating issues, under load the cpu can reach 105°Celcius with the stock cooler. I even removed the cooler again and put it back on with fresh thermal paste but it didnt change anything so i can not agree with your statement, that amd heats less than intel
2020-06-30 12:08
the reality is that you will NOT be able to cool Intel with the stock cooler. You need an upgraded cooler for Intel processors. If you use the same upgraded cooler for AMD processors, they will run at lower temps than Intel. Just compare, Intel does not even deliver a stock cooler with their equivalent 9600K because they know it will not be able to cope

Would have to prostitute myself to buy this
2020-06-30 11:45
In Schweiz should be easy to buy? Also can pay in monthly installments. And it costs only EUR 2.5k

Playing games on smaller screens/laptop screens feels kinda weird. I have been playing on Laptops for quite a while now. Trust me, it just doesn't feel right.
2020-06-30 11:46
The small screen is for travelling, at home it is connected to 32"

For Machine learning models? If you have time to sit around waiting for it to finish calculations, then yes

Dang. Those are some nice specifications for gaming.
2020-06-30 11:52
Decent pricing as well for a laptop
2020-06-30 11:53
For 1.4k it's a bargain, but how good is the engineering behind it. My Alienware is well-built and doesn't overheat, but it's 1k more.
2020-06-30 12:07
Alienware and other established resellers are ripping people off, e.g. ROG from ASUS or MSI gaming laptops. You should go for the smaller resellers like XMG or Eluktroniks or Tuxedo or System76
2020-06-30 12:33
Most of the people I know that bought gaming laptops almost never used them to play games and either sold them or regretted the purchase. If you need it for work as well then fine, but you could maybe go for an ultrabook or something like that which is lighter and more enjoyable for normal work (overheating, size, weight). Or get a cheaper laptop and buy a Nintendo Switch or some shit for games. But suit yourself!

Professeur, I think there is a generational and paradigm shift with this kind of laptop. This is not your typical soldered laptop CPU inside with 45W and a bad cooling system. This is a very capable cooling system and a new generation of discrete desktop Ryzen CPUs that are energy efficient since they are on 7nm, compared to what Intel offers. There are a number of reviews from independent parties for this laptop and all of them come to the conclusion that it can beat most desktop setups (especially of Intel). You can have a look at Linus Tech Tips review, or notebookcheck.de, or der8auer, or Gamer Meld reviews on YT, all of them are astonished how powerful this system is. The only major drawback is the noise level, but for me personally it is not a factor.
