Why do people stay in abusive relationships? I have alot of (primarily female) friends who are dating somebody is absolutely horrible to them? Both emotionally and physically, Im talking beating, degrading and just generally abusing their SO's, yet they defend them rigorously and refuse to leave them and hold them accountable? I have a theory that its related to Stockholm Syndrome. Im not looking to argue with anyone, im looking to introduce a discussion.

well girls like to be dominated its in their nature

Liking dominant guys is in its nature, not being dominated (they want guy that dominates other guys because kids will be more likely to survive)

Daddy issues and mental ilness(like the girl that accused Launders) make up at least 80%...

Very true, it would be interesting if any HLTV users who have experienced abusive relationships would be open to sharing their experiences anonymously.

I was in one. Emotional not physical. The reason why i didn't break up was hoping each day she would be as sweet/nice again as the day i met her. It's not about having mental illness most of the time but about simply hoping she would be back to her normal state.

It becomes like an obsession. Also relationships don’t get messy from the start so there is always that hope that you can get back what you had.

No, it's related to their empty bank account 😎

Maybe in some cases, but ultimately the abuse must surpass the want for a rich lifestyle

low self-esteem deprived of love and mostlikely confused of what true love is from early childhood, it happens on collective level - society, culture, as well as groups - families, schools, etc and individual abussers confused role model of feminity stuck in know emotional states - at least you know this pain, unknown is more threatining for the ego why do you care? may I ask?

What exactly are the men doing? Hitting them? Bullying? It varies from person to person.

Females are more abusive in relationships than males.
