what? so he has no right to his popular opinion that god is bs? Its common sense in the freeworld to know religon is a hoax
2020-07-01 15:50
Only for people who doesnt know anything about it.
2020-07-01 16:04
That popular opinion is easily refutable bs because most of those who say it think of God like a bearded man on a cloud.
2020-07-01 17:20
Then, which one of the many greek gods or roman gods or the 1000 indu gods or the egyptian gods? Allah? The norse gods the old chineses gods? Cause they all have prophets and a holy book that comes with them saying all kind of different stuff. So what is your god doing that differs from the rest? Maybe you have the wrong god? If so, you will maybe burn in hell? Wont have thoses virgins on the other side or you wont be reincarnated as a magnificient horse. People that normally thinks otherwise while never questionning themselves are usually put in mental institutions.

Jehovah's Witnesses Just be firmly resolved not to eat the blood, because the blood is the life, and you must not eat the life with the flesh. - Deuteronomy 12:23 The Amish The Amish will not allow heart transplants and, in some cases, heart surgery because they view the heart as "the soul of the body." Children who have not been baptized are exempt from that restriction. Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims Vaishnavism, the major branch of the Hindu faith, considers the killing of animals, especially cows, to be sinful. Therefore, the religion does not condone the use of any drugs, implants, skin grafts or medical dressings that contain parts of pigs or bovines. Christian Scientists Christian Scientists believe that the primary method of healing should be through prayer, and many members have in the past been against modern medical treatments. There have been measles outbreaks among Christian Scientists, and studies have shown that mortality levels were high.

Good copypasta, nice to see you actually have thought this. I'm going to speak for my religion. Islam doesn't say you can't use medicine. And Islam also says that only praying without taking any actions will not give you success in anything. Islam teaches you to first take actions, and then wait for consequences. But who am I trying to discuss this, you'll probably refuse that this is true; despite this getting taught in schools on lessons of religion every term.

2020-07-01 16:48
So what, everyone can have an opinion. Doesnt mean its the right one. If you havent noticed so far, not every christian, muslim etc. have the same opinions on the same matters. Therefore you can have someone who says that modern medicine is not good, but on the other hand there are christina,s, like I, who says that it is not wrong and whatsmore it is right to be treated with it.

And the best part is, our current knowledge in medicine is mostly coming from 1. Hellenistic Greeks 2. Muslims in Middle Ages 3. Christians for the rest.
2020-07-01 16:11
Exactly. I think, that he has some specific source from which he knos this, but doesnt see the whole picture. Like he is not totally wrong, but only in a small portion.

Tbh I think he's just totally wrong, he understood things wrong in my opinion. God wants people to take a good care of what the God had given them (in this case, their health and bodies), at least according to teachings or holy books.
2020-07-01 16:16
Sure. We can agree on that, even though I am christian. But you know, not everyone is as you and me. There really are people who believe in any sort of things, even in what he is saying.

Yeah, that's true. A lot of people think they're doing things according to religion but in reality they're just doing things that had gotten in our lives lately. I think this is mostly coming from people's mindset, some religious people doesn't even know what they're exactly believing in; and also there's a big amount of non-religious people that can't say why they're not believing in a God or a deity. Edit: I should add though, I've never seen a person not taking medicine because they're religious.
2020-07-01 16:23
you don't see religious people not taking medicine because that's just stupid
2020-07-01 18:30

I've never seen such an idiot, religion actually encourages people to work on medicine, at least I can definitely say that for mine since I don't want to say that much of others.
2020-07-01 16:13
Depends on specific religion and interpretation of religious sources I guess. The people I'm talking about are very strict old fashioned christians in the Netherlands. Tried finding an english term for them but wikipedia only has the page in dutch so idk.
2020-07-01 16:42
Religions are not against development actually, but always a group of people will use religion as an excuse to do dumb shit
2020-07-01 16:50
Obviously, as religion in general isn't a certain opinion or set of moral values. Depends on the person's specific religion and their interpretation of religious sources, as I said.

Well I guess it's up to people's mentality I guess. There were well-known religious people that contributed to science and medicine, but sometimes it seems people now can be more ignorant that people in the past. As I said, if there's some things like that; it's probably not because their religion said so but instead they thought so.
2020-07-01 16:52
I agree, and that's what I meant with "Depends on specific religion and interpretation of religious sources I guess." all the values those people hold are based off interpretation to whatever information source is important to their religion. Be it the bible, be it the quran, be it something else.

You are saying this: 1. Real, true religion does not accept modern medicine. 2. Therefore people have everwritten religon[books, laws, etc...], so they can practice it. 3. But you cant change the rules made by God. You cant, true. But you are wrong at the beggining 1. Where do you have it from, that real believers dont believe in modern medicine? As a christian, its written nowhere in the Bible.
