best case scenario: renault gets 2022 regulations right and alonso has a chance to win the WDC worst case scenario: alonso gets ez money for 2 years good move for alonso imo
2020-07-08 14:44
+1, probably being paid by renault 50 million euros per season

i think it's only gonna be slightly better than kubica's return, he's gonna get spanked by ocon easily, but sure, good move to earn some easy money for him and probably a good marketing move for renault

I totally agree with everything, Ocon will destroy Alonso.
2020-07-08 14:54
Ocon is a shit driver. But at least he has the advantage of being younger than Alonso so I can see where you're coming from.
2020-07-08 17:34
hows that an advantage if he really is a shitty driver? Alonso is probably the best driver skillwise in the grid
2020-07-08 18:32
Age affects reflexes, willingness to take risks on the grid and motivation so ofc it affects driver's ability. Take a look at Kimi for example. Last 10 years he's been just a shadow of his former self, even with a good car.
2020-07-08 20:21
There was a conditional there, IF Ocon is a shit driver. If he is actually not then what you just wrote, which is absolutely true, would mean an ez Ocon victory over Alonso.
2020-07-08 20:32
not a hope in hell he's the best skillwise, he'd still be winning races if he was, McLaren is off the pace of Mercedes and Red Bull sure, but Lando and Sainz proved that podiums are possible in the car
2020-07-08 21:13
in the 2019-2020 car with a good dose of things going their way
2020-07-08 21:24
same car as last year with minimal changes cause of the entire pandemic thing

17:5 in Qualifying for Alonso. Bookmark this thread comment

2020-07-08 17:12

Idk about kimi but alonso is hungry
2020-07-08 18:39
Kimi cant still be hungry surely, if he sees the season out he's gonna be the longest running F1 Driver in history

My guess is that this is part of a bigger program, to attract and tutor younger racers. Not about winning (altough he can), but a mid-long term movement. I think this is good. Alonso has a unique driving style and he can get on Hamilton's nerve hehe
2020-07-08 14:52
Alonso - F1 god

Give a Chance to the Williams... Their car sucks this year but latifi... i like the young.- BTW Lando Getting P3 This weekend!! Youngsters are rising and only mercedes can stop them.
2020-07-08 15:01
Yep latifi is a bad pay driver

I don't think the One Armed Bandit would be able to compete.

Malaysia Suno[t]
We'll see if he does either a jaques villeneuve or a schumacher OR he does either an Alain Prost or a Niki Lauda. I think he will still be good though because he hasn't stop racing in other series.
2020-07-08 16:02
Bad move, he won't win shit again, like in Mclaren but He does It because he loves the sport, he doesn't need to prove anything at this point. F1 will be exciting though
2020-07-08 16:08
i have nothing against is comeback but why did he "retired" then?? you make a good bye fiesta to then comeback?...
2020-07-08 16:16
Too old for F1 at this point imo. Him and Räikkönen and all the other old farts should just retire to make space for young gifted drivers. But it's F1, which has nothing to do with talent, more about money and politics so no surprise. It's good decision for Alonso for easy free money but bad for everything else, including the sports.
2020-07-08 17:15
Won't matter. He won't suck ass but will probably share the same fate with Ricciardo, engine fail-10th place-engine fail-crash-engine fail-8th place- engine fail-12th place-engine fail
2020-07-08 17:15
dude is 38 and mega rich, so if he's coming back it can only mean he really likes racing in F1. power to him if he managed to get a seat to have some fun. I doubt he'll suck.
2020-07-08 17:21
Even if you are super rich it doesn't hurt to get even MORE.
2020-07-08 17:27
sure, but he was already getting a lot of money from Toyota for a couple of races here and there. Signing for Renault on the other hand means he's committed to a full F1 season which means a lot more travelling and developing the car and stuff like that. I still don't think he's in for the money

He join Renault and remove Ricciardo or Ocon???
2020-07-08 17:24
Portugal ByeTeR
He "removed" Ricciardo and then Ricciardo will go to maclaren for the place of Sainz and then Sainz will go to Ferrari in place of Vettel R.I.P Vettel

McLaren* So intresting duo Ricciardo / Norris
2020-07-08 17:31
2 funniest and most entertaining drivers on the grid imo

shit move tho i fear for sainz with how ferrari is looking, his move might've been worse
2020-07-08 17:40
Tf even happened with ferrari, the fact that Charles had one of the races of his life and still came 2nd says a lot about the car

and vettel didn't even make it to top 10 in the starting grid says a whole lot as well

tbf vettels just shit now, that move he attempted on sainz was stupid
2020-07-08 22:57
Sweden Zolity
yes it was, but vettel probably go the best potential when putting up a lap time. Im saying that its crazy how he didn't make the final qualifying
2020-07-08 22:58
Lets go Alonsoooooooo
2020-07-08 17:42
I miss old drivers like Alonso, so yes it's exaiting to see him again ;)

Palmer has retired.

2020-07-08 22:04
He's still a solid driver, and at the very least he'll be able to get the most out of the renault cars, and be very good to improve Ocon. Don't see him actually winning anything, be lucky to get a podium tbh, but still nice to see him back although McLaren > All
