Emulators for one thing. RetroArch is far easier to manage on Linux.

Im not going to watch a ltt video but from my experience gaming on linux is a nightmare. Even if you can get proton to work if the game has a anti cheat you will be unable to play. Even if the game launches frame rates are usually worse or the same compared to windows so unless you're too lazy to pirate windows gaming on linux is pointless.

What does running pirate copies of your games have to do with it?
2020-07-09 09:55
Hes saying the only reason you'd use linux is if you're too lazy top pirate windows

I don't recall having problems with stability on Linux. If the game works, then it's going to work. More or less.

linux is trash for gaming, everyone knows it smart linux users have dual boot

No, sorry. It's actually easier in many aspects, for example, if you wanna run RetroArch. With dual booting you loose the privacy benefits of Linux.

"privacy" unless you're doing something illegal then it's not an issue, Plus you can debloat windows in less than 5 min.

That's bullshit. Everybody is being spied on these days. It's not 1950 anymore when you had to be a person of interest, because spying was costly and couldn't be done en masse. > Plus you can debloat windows in less than 5 min. Yeah, good luck: "This is what Microsoft admits to log when you do a Windows Update. Windows Update privacy statement * Computer make and model * Version information for the operating system, browser, and any other Microsoft software for which updates might be available * Plug and Play ID numbers of hardware devices * Region and language setting * Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) * Product ID and Product Key * BIOS name, revision number, and revision date" trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/do..

Yeah, what is hooked up to your PC and what their IDs are. Because Microsoft really has to know. Basically, if you travel with a Windows machine, Microsoft knows where you've been if only you touched the Internet, because of those personally identifying data points. You don't need a Microsoft account for them to know that. If you change a video card or hook up your friends printer, Microsoft knows too. They even know which friend you likely took it from.

why is that a concern ?? are they gonna steal your identity with basic information about your hardware ?

The concern is don't stick your nose in my private business. Using a computer at home doesn't constitute a probable cause.

I ran a linux station beside my windows station for years and I can safely say microsoft didn't steal my identity

you can disable telemetry, and remove "reporting to microsoft" completely i did it in less than 2 min with a small program, it's almost as good as Win7 now

It's not 2001, and W10 isn't XP. They got smarter over time. You can't do shit. youtu.be/RVzc5wK2-pc
2020-07-09 10:38
No because many games are not supported in linux , rocket league dropped their linux support too and its understandable imo, i dont like only windows but its easy, you have 1% of linux users using different versions and need to have all these compatible
2020-07-09 10:01
LTT video = hard pass. On the subject - no, and it's never going to be. Just because of the amount of different cores and builds it's really hard to adapt the game to work properly with it. But as we stand now Linux pop of gamers is tiny (1-3%, I guess), and the number of optimization needed is huge, so noone is gonna bother.

Yeah, like. Make it run on Vulkan and have raw mouse input support. Pretty much all problems solved, gg.
2020-07-09 10:25
Vulkan is always going to be a very niche API, very few games support it even on WIndows.

not natively XD layers of emulators to make WINDOWS games work, that shows how shitty linux is
2020-07-09 10:26
No it doesn't, it shows that video game developers don't bother supporting a small platform, linux is great for many things, gaming sadly is not one of them
2020-07-09 10:31

I don't know about that. They actually tried to implement of the 10 spying into 7 as well, probably not as severe but still. I don't run Windows anymore, I grew up from that phase.

Krita is cool. There is no reason why good graphics software shouldn't work in Linux. It's just a lack of will on the developers side. I/O operations are much faster in Linux/macOS than in Windows. In theory, many programs should actually run better.
2020-07-09 11:12
That's not the case anymore, AMD graphics on Linux has been excellent going on about 2 years now...
2020-07-09 11:26
Although compatibilty is increasing, it is still a long way to go. Some of the anti cheat software doesn't work, no Faceit or Esea, some modding tools for games don't work.
2020-07-09 11:47
It’s gotten decent but it’s still quite a way from being on windows level.
