How come they have different history and origins if they're in the same fucking language family? Writing system doesn't mean shit, because writing system is a human invention, unlike spoken language, which is a natural phenomenon.
Do you consider Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian and Montegrin different languages too, because their goverments say so? In fact, they all speak Serbo-Croatian and they all understand each other, it doesn't mean shit if Serbs use cyrillic and Croatians use latin alphabet.
Or maybe Chinese is a language too, because People's Republic of China says so? But why don't Northern Chinese people understand Cantonese dialect? Maybe because it's not a dialect, but a different language, unlike politicians say? You understand Hindi and Hindi-speakers understand Urdu-speakers too, that's it.
