Just to be clear about this, you're complaining that a CONSOLE controller made specifically for that console didn't play nice with a PC and you had to *shudder* install a new firmware to the CONTROLLER from the CONSOLE MANUFACTURER to fix the issue, and this is somehow a PC's fault?
Don't get me wrong, Microsoft does some stupid shit with their updates (adding support for A somehow breaks C, G and M), but that's just normal software process. Shit happens on consoles too (in-game stuff mostly)
Since a PC is a multi-purpose machine, it may require some tuning to perform it's best at a given task, but the options it gives you are superior in almost every way.
What is a console's strength is convenience. Having a few friends over and playing Mario Kart or something is quite convenient with a console.
