Yeah so basically what you're saying is that your list is biased Just because some director had a few drinks with your dad one time? And you're laughing at OP's list? Fuck outta here

“Tarkovsky” “Some director” I might be biased but he’s still a god
2020-07-14 11:45
"I'm so unique, bcuz I "like" tarkovsky" I think it's 50/50 odds that you don't even understand what his films are about Also, your movie-list is even a bigger cliche than the list of the guy you were laughing at, typical list of a "true movie-expert-critic" lmfao

I am by no means a cinephile and I don’t really participate in internet movie circle-jerks, I just dislike Nolan and listed 10 movies I liked. How is it cliche? Genuine question.
2020-07-14 13:34
that's cool bcuz i literally know two people who name the same movies and consider themselves movie experts (while they're clearly not) xd

Movie elitism is kind of hilarious People think I’m *that* type of person just for hating Nolan and liking tarkovsky
2020-07-14 13:54
yea, bcuz you didn't explain why you hated him, you just said it's a pleblist with no arguments and said "nolan omegalul", only people who want to show off their "sophisticated" movie taste usually do that

Still need to see his films tbh, but they're very highly rated yeah. Stalker the highest I think? Did watch a number of Akira Kurosawa films, and eventhough they're hella-old and feel a bit slow because of that, it are epic movies. A lot of Western movies are based on Kurosawa's work. 7 samurai would be in my top10. A whole world opens up when you're able to look past hollywood and past the last 20/30 years. Reminds me, I still need to watch Oldeuboy too.

Oldboy is a trip. It also has my favorite corridor fight scene of all time. honestly though stalker is Tarkovsky most well known work I’ll always stand by nostalghia as his best, possibly in part due to it being the first movie of his I watched.

On filmweb (polish IMDB) it's currently #1 or #2 of all time if I'm not mistaken, you gotta admit it's little too much. I also seen 10/10s of original after american premiere so it's not only local trend.

I mean for me it's the best movie I've seen so far so idk if it's too much. I don't care about the ratings and shit really
2020-07-14 11:03
Waaaat. Noone rate it highly and its literally one of the best movies ever, you can rewatch it over and over, 10/10.

But when you start to decompose it you realise it's just simple tearjerker, after watching it for the second time you see that story itself is not that good either. Person of daughter is completely useless and could be absent, story is following main duo too much, completely loosing important surrounding world behind. Of course it's best tearjerker of all tearjerkers but it's also not very good of a movie itself, I would rate it 7/10 myself.
2020-07-14 11:08
I enjoy it every single time, makes me feel reaaaaal good man. You don't need a special story nor flesh out the rest of the world/characters, they did everything spot on, rest of the people are just there to put the main guys in good light, its 10/10, you should rewatch it once more and enjoy. Make sure its a good translation, it can vary so much and it actually change quite a bit of the movie.

The thing is, at least for me and most movie critics - piece needs to have some extra meaning, lesson or just exceptionally good story to be considered very good. Intouchables, no matter how you look at it, are only simple movie designe to make viewer feel good about what is happening on the screen. It's equivalent of simple beer in world of alcohol, sure it's good and it makes you feel such, but its simplicity stops it from being really great piece such as cognac, that maybe isn't as good when it comes to initial drop but it's more deep and complex when you taste it over time. Nonetheless I watched it trice, with friends, family and girl and alwasy enjoyed it.
2020-07-14 11:24
Therefore top 10, there aren't any better movies man, name 10, you can't. But I get what you mean, I saw After Life Season 1 yesterday and "basically" all these extra characters(Whore, bench girl, junkie, nurse, coworkers, etc) have and make extra meaning sort of, while in Intouchables they are just used for laughs in a way. But its still top 10.

" you can't" - off top of my head: Citizen Kane 12 Angry Men Cuckoo's Nest Apocalypse Now Taxi Driver Oldboy Truman show Clockwork Orange Stalker 10th place is empty for now
2020-07-14 11:53
Literally watched Truman show a few days ago, not even close to Intouchables. Taxi Driver, big disappointment, nowhere close to Intouchables. Rest old stuff, haven't seen most of it, but I suppose its like 2001, a load of shit. Stuff like Det sjunde inseglet, can't compare to "modern" stuff nowadays. Gonna give Casablanca a chance soon. Added to watchlist: Cuckoo's Nest

See "1917"! It's a "must see" on the war genre. "Pulp FIction" is an amazing movie too, alongside with "The dark knight". If you like movies that make you think (Like inception), you have "The Silence of the Lambs", "Shutter Island", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest " and "Joker". I saw that "8mile", wouldnt say it's a great movie, but since u like Hip-Hop, u should see the broadway play "Hamilton". They just launched it on Disney+, and i'm obsessed with it.
