Ryzen 3700x or i7 9700k? Overall performance, not looking for the best performance specifically in games.

Yes I know. i am however more of a multitasker. which includes video editing so the ryzen might be a better option

multi core is better for ryzen single core better for intel
2020-07-22 02:14
ryzen
2020-07-22 01:15
9700k better i have 3700x trust me choose intel :)
2020-07-22 01:20
what issues are you having with the 3700x?
2020-07-22 01:28
even in 5/5 faceit on train or cache fps drops to 230 its kinda joke on this cpu and my cpu is working fine ... and 12983901839012 options in bios to set it good , on intel u just put cpu on mb and u can play :D
2020-07-22 01:39
Overclock? Also what ram and GPU do you got?
2020-07-22 22:17
without oc but still this cpu should be better in cs go , 2x8 corsair vengeance rgb pro 3200mhz cl16
2020-07-23 21:55
Hmm weird. Usally you should reach around 300 stable FPS. Guess you`re not playing on 4:3? Try to lower some useless settings and try to overclock since you got an k model. Also there are many tricks and tweaks to easily reach higher FPS. And i guess you need more than 230 for your 240 hz monitor right?
2020-07-24 04:16
i know i should reach around stable 300 fps but trust me this ryzen is overhyped , im playing 4:3 1024x768 or 1280x960 and i got the same fps .. in other games this ryzen is kinda good but not in cs go , i5 9600k is cheaper and got better fps in cs go without any overclocking thats the difference intels have more powerfull single core :/
2020-07-24 04:33
I have the Ryzen 3700x too, and i have to say, i think there is something wrong with your pc bro.. I get 300 fps stable, no drops at all... and i'm playing 1024x768, so it's cpu intensive.. But i have 3600MHz ram (16GB) , maybe that's the change? If not, bro let someone check your pc, as i don't have any drops, and never go above 60 degrees..
2020-07-24 04:45
+1 i think somethings is wrong with his csgo or even windows settings.
2020-07-24 05:19
only with cs go in other games i have excatly the same fps like other ppls on benchmarks...

The problem is volvo who somehow manage to still have their games not optimised for amd, me and a friend also have problems although our cpus und gpus are superfine, its kust a problem with cs and the conpability wirth amd cpus i think Overall id choose amd though, especially with cheaper cpus amd is so much better, most of my friends have problems with everything that has to do with multitasking, i have my r5 2600, supercheap, and its a monster tbh

lol i got better fps on ryzen 2600. something is wrong with your PC
2020-07-24 04:37
I can relate to him though...not that bad but i have r5 2600 as well and the performance in csgo sucks, but only in cs since the game is shitty optimised af
2020-07-25 09:25
ryzen 3600x 400-500 fps avg on dd2 with stream on,whats ur problem dude?!?!
2020-07-25 04:56
turn on stream go deathmach 16 players minimum and let me see ;d seriously
2020-07-25 19:52
btw if i turn on stream its also didnt affect my fps i have the same fps with stream on and off....
2020-07-25 19:58
go check my friends stream twitch.tv/tonkizz he has past vods,he even has worse gpu than me 1650super,i have 1070ti
2020-07-25 20:01
and he has drops to 250 when watching for example connector from ticket bro on mirage so imagine on cache or train thats what i was speaking about its a cs go problem not cpu i have 350+ all the time but in few positions on maps i have drops to 240 on train/cache ...
2020-07-25 23:18
and gpu has nothing to do here when we're playing in low res
2020-07-25 23:24
it does when ur streaming on gpu,not a lot,but it does
2020-07-26 00:08
Intel is like premium. Ryzen is plastic, it’s good for people who don’t afford premium things.

2020-07-22 01:41
try for example iphone 6s vs samsung s7 or s8 and u gonna understand why iphones are more expensive cuz they still working pretty well after few years , optimalisation is much better on ios than on android ...
2020-07-23 22:00
Both are over-priced shit. 200-300€ phone is all you need.
2020-07-24 17:31
Buy one plus phones and ull see that money actually can give u sth back
2020-07-25 09:27
You'll have that phone for 1.5 years max without fat ass lags.
2020-07-25 19:59
Lol. Maybe if you install it full of shit :D Id maybe look into buying an expensive phone if the docking feature gets good enough. Iphone docked into a monitor with keyboard and mouse would be nice and fast enough for browsing light office work.
2020-07-25 21:23
Buy one plus 5T, 3 years now with 3* the performance of an i phone for 2/3 of the price, still running like a new one, i dropped it so many times too, not a scratch or drop in performance....but mb i just got lucky Sadly their new phones are 600/700+ which is a bit expensive:( but they have a lot of power, insane display, insane specs
2020-07-25 09:27
+1 I have the 5T aswell 👍
2020-07-25 20:04
dunno what drugs you're on, my s6 works just fine
2020-07-25 23:31
and talking about iphones, i had a friend who used an iphone 7 for a year then it became laggy af. plus 2 friends switched from iphones to samsung and xiaomi after they realised iphone aint much better

2020-07-22 02:20
from what I know - ryzen if you're gonna be doing a lot of rendering/multi-tasking otherwise - intel
2020-07-22 02:11
Yea i multitask alot. looks like im getting a ryzen
2020-07-22 02:13
Yeah, I honestly dislike ryzen a lot but hey I guess if it works for you then why not
2020-07-22 02:18
Just dont go and spend stupid money on other parts. Ive seen people buying 200€ motherboards for 3600 and getting a 250€ aio with rgb :D Could spend less and get 3900X instead for twice the cores.
2020-07-24 17:32
When source launch, ryzen. Now buy i7
2020-07-22 02:13
wait for next gen ryzen, prices will drop down
2020-07-22 02:15
For multi tasking ryzen by far. wait for next generation though, if you can. Sincerely a 9700k owner
2020-07-22 02:16
when will the next gen release?
2020-07-22 02:19
Idk but it shouldnt be too hard to google for the answer. Either way, at this point AMD is your best bet 100%. I regret getting a 9700k simply because it does not multitask well enough to justify the price compared to AMD atm
2020-07-22 22:12
Oh, that's surprising. Youre a heavy multitasker then?
2020-07-22 22:16
9700K is more expensive than 3700X. Its hard to justify the extra price and need for a separate cooler when 3700X performs better on multithread workloads with under 100€ motherboard.
2020-07-24 17:34
AMD is also more future proof as games will take advantage of the extra cores in the near future
2020-07-25 00:19
True. But I wouldnt buy a cpu with future proofing in mind. Most likely will take at least 2-3 years for games to start default onto the new console hw with 8c16t cpu. And then there are most likely even faster cpu:s out with ddr5 support.
2020-07-25 21:26
EDIT: It'll take far less than 2-3 years in my opinion. A year at most. Some games already see Ryzen surpassing Intel. I think one of them is RE2. Not sure.
2020-07-26 00:25

2020-07-23 21:56
To be honest, unless you really need the performance now, I would be tempted to wait and build your next system once Intel gets 10nm and 7nm out in the market. Intel is still winning in gaming on 14nm, and their productivity could jump massively. That said, if you do thing that need the threads then definitely go for the 3700X over 9th gen Intel (which isn't even most recent).

Intel is skipping 10nm on desktops because the yield and clock speed are so bad. 7nm desktop will be 2022 earliest assuming they don't screw up 7nm too. AMD Architecture is fundamentally flawed. Having a separate IO die significantly increases latency. Most games are latency-sensitive and this is deadly. Chiplet design is only good for improving yield and packing more cores on Threadripper parts
2020-07-24 17:28
i am using a 9900k and since some updates i get less than 300 fps this game gets fucked up more and more they really need a performance update
2020-07-23 22:00
Ryzen, if you don't want Ryzen then I suggest Ryzen
2020-07-23 22:00
9700k obviously, have one oc'd to 5.1 ghz

I would say go with the Ryzen 3600. It is the current sweet sport between price and performance. For memory go for some 3600 Mhz, the Ryzen chips love that. The money you save by buying a lesser CPU either spend on a faster GPU or set aside to do a CPU upgrade when 3rd gen Ryzen arrives some time later this year.
2020-07-25 05:22
3700x intel performs better for games because of higher clock speeds and better single-core performance but since you said you're a multi tasker and also do some video editing ryzen is by far the better choice for price and even performance
2020-07-25 05:31
i7 is better As an Intel fanboy i’ll say get the Ryzen if you multitask a lot or do other stuff than gaming

i7 for games 3700x for everything else imo 3700x is better cause there is like a 20 fps diff between both cpu's, over 300 fps u will not tell a difference so yeah, 3700x>i7
