cs 1.6

Hasn't aged well IMO. If there is a showmatch that has maps played in 1.6 they are almost unwatchable. The gameplay is good but in terms of quality today csgo > 1.6

Cs1.6 far better and competitive
2020-07-30 17:55
1.6 died because the gameplay is mediocre. It's an overrated CS game.

oof men(( was that really worth it?
2020-08-27 11:19
ofc it didn't age well because you aren't used to graphics since the graphics nowadays are really different

point of the thread was that some people still insist that 1.6 is/was a waay superior game which it objectively is not

We actually saw another 1.6 update this month. Unfortunately stuff like Xorg mouse wheel bug and hitbox bought hadn't been touched. The fact that updates are there doesn't mean that much alone.

I completely disagree... the newer generation won't understand 1.6 and just how instrumental it was in carving CS like we know today.

Without a doubt counter strike would not be as big as it is today if it wasn't for 1.6. What I mean is that the game isn't enjoyable for me personally now

I can respect that completely. :) I've been playing it since 2002 and poured 25k+ hours into it, it'll always remain a classic for me.
2020-07-30 18:24
Wtf jonttyyyyyyy I agree with you How tf Never have i agreed on anything more than this ever in my life I have 13k hrs since 2012..... Still stuck on it Go seems incredibly slow and boring once you get to that flying movements

I've got 5.5k hours in GO and I played from 2012-end of 2015... it's addictive and i honestly find it easier than 1.6, to be perfectly frank.

bro ur delusional. 1.6 is extremely outdated compared to cs:go. worse movement, more exploits, worse player models, etc etc.

I'm not delusional, I'm respecting the classic I've been playing since 2002... The newer generation dont understand and simply accuse because of the way it looks and plays. The game hasn't aged poorly at all.
2020-07-30 18:16
i literally hear no arguments mate. i also respect 1.6, but that being said I believe cs:go is a much better and fine tuned game

Cs 1.6 haven't aged well for other reasons than graphics. It's a game that have received very few updates over years. Not fixing issues, not improving over time. Can't compare with csgo, which keeps receiving at least a bit of updates every single week.

1.6 in esl 505 ladder 1v1 ladder 20n2 int ladder, that was real fun, not these faceit crap with fuckin lowrusskis who bait and scream and go b lurk when u go a spot

valve definitely fucked with the game, my old 1.6 friends and I were watching the showmatch which was good nostalgia but the recoil/movement/responsiveness looks off compared to how it was. youtube.com/watch?v=Xb7NCgsW-ng In this fragmovie you can see how much cleaner the gunplay was compared to the show match. I still think 1.6 is the better spectator game because it rewards dueling aka more skill, I'm surprised that 2020 line up didn't steam roll 2010 on both as they are much more skilled. CSGO is a more tactical game big a long way but the choke points with smokes and mollies is shit viewing imo. I don't know what "outdated" means, do you guys mean graphics? graphics means nothing as long as you have good visibility and mechanics it's fine, Valorant has better graphics for an eSport than CSGO as it has a great visibility, in b4 the kids cry no I don't mean valorant is a better game.

> valve definitely fucked with the game, my old 1.6 friends and I were watching the showmatch which was good nostalgia but the recoil/movement/responsiveness looks off compared to how it was. Recoil never changed pretty much since 1.3 to 1.4 update. It's just that those videos are mostly from LAN games I think, and it strongly relies on your current ping.
2020-08-03 17:04
The game felt completely different after the 2013? update, I remember it as I was still casually pugging. Not sure if it was a ping issue because it looked too much of a mess to be a ping issue.

No, it did not. Most likely, you screwed up your settings. There has never been a change in recoil since early 2000s. They updated a couple of things such as you could in theory make your game to go beyond 100 fps and screw up your movement that way (something that was not doable before), but with normal settings, everything remained the same.
2020-08-03 17:09
It used to be a very popular game, the best one. But now technology is improving, graphics and special effects too. There really is a big chasm between the two games now. But this is not surprising. Everything has its time. And "The Wolf Catches Chicken Eggs" was popular. Thank Cs 1.6 for the whole era of esports. Several generations have grown up on this game)

CSGO is no match for 1.6 when it comes to movement for example. Though with matchmaking and good infrastructure, it just became more convenient to play the game now than it used to be.
2020-08-27 02:17
And why exactly csgo is no match to 1.6 regarding movement? What can you not do in go that you could do in 1.6 except those stupid buggy stuff like sgs, russian walking etc? Honest question, are you a 1.6 fanboy? Cause if you are then don't reply please, 1.6 fanboys are too fragile and boneheaded to have a conversation with

Bunnpyhopping among other things. For one, you don't feel like you constantly carry a bag of potatoes on your back in 1.6, unlike in CSGO. Am I a fanboy? No, I acknowledge this game downsides too.
2020-08-27 10:50
You can bhop in GO as well :) but speed cap and stamina cost prevent it from being abused like phoon did in source

You must be a new fag. Why did people play source when 1.6 was still around and had bigger numbers? That's the biggest mystery to me.
2020-08-27 10:59
Not a newfag, been playing vanilla kz for years so I think I know a thing or two about bhops and you can bhop in GO Also your question is irrelevant to the discussion, you said you can't bhop in GO which is as wrong as it gets

Well you can, the movement is still slow though. Wallbangs are fake. If you kill three in a round in 1.6 you feel deep satisfaction. In CSGO is like whatever. The game is really no match to 1.6 in many regards. Although I acknowledge 1.6 has downsides too. Such as lack of matchmaking for example.
2020-08-27 11:10
This whole "satisfaction" argument is mostly personal opinion. Someone else would come up and say killing 3 in 1.6 felt meh but a one tap with ak in GO feels godly satisfying. What does that prove? Nothing except that the person has personal likings and dislikings. Wallbangs are not fake, it's adjusted to the thickness of the material but if I remember correctly the discussion was regarding movement not wallbangs. The movement speed is capped for a reason else everyone would phoon around and break the game tactically.

If I was given the chance to go pick watching csgo era or 1.6 era, I would go back to 2003 and watch it all again.
2020-08-03 18:37
imagine first version of cs is cs go, and later comes 1.6 updated version lol how mad would be people. And if you say 1.6 is better why dont you play it :D
2020-08-27 11:02
i play it,sadly there is no pro scene anymore:( im 10lvl on faceit but cs 1.6 >>> csgo
2020-08-27 11:10
sure next time say , white black big tv better than flat hd tv.
2020-08-27 11:30
ProMod was bestest cs ever. never went out of beta, csgo killed it eventually :(
2020-08-27 11:04
True dat, I had forgotten about it. Everybody was expecting a lot from ProMod, especially because the first versions of CSGO sucked big time
2020-08-27 11:08
yeah, but there was no money in it and it was a hobby project with coders that were doing it for free
2020-08-27 11:09
I'm an 1.6 lover but I feel like CSGO is much better in terms of balance : all weapons are strong in given situations and can be used, the nades are a huge part of the game, allowing much more complex strategies and teamplay. However i really prefer the 1.6 shooting feeling. CSGO is mostly spray and pray. Even at pro level, if players don't get a kill with the first two bullets they'll just keep spraying half of their mag while crouching until they get the kill, while in 1.6 you had to straff and shoot a few bullet at a time, aiming to the head. I feel like it was much more skilled and elegant way of playing.
2020-08-27 11:05
1.6 is 17 years old. Relax. Still better movement mechanics than CS:GO.
2020-08-27 11:12
it depends on your skill, if you are best in1.6 you will have scores like 38:0 in csgo some noob runs with deagle and boom headshot while aiming at pillar next to you
