Is America really that bad?
United Kingdom SomeFuwkingCunt
Around hltv theres tons of anti American posts where alot of users think that the US is a third world country (which is honestly laughable) because of what they saw on Twitter so I decided to compare the US to other countries (especially EU ones) to see how america stacks up against other countries Quality of life/HDI The USA ranks higher than 35 european countries while there are only 9 countries that rank higher than america in human development The US ranks higher than 34 european countries while there are only 10 European countries that rank higher than America Now where things start looking alot better in america is when you break it down into states, each state is essentially it's own country with different culture, laws, living standards, geography/weather and comparing a country with 330 million people and acting as if all areas are the same doesnt make any sense Human development index by state Not a single state has the same HDI index as a third world European country and there are numerous states that rank higher than countries such as Denmark, germany, and sweden So I decided to compare the Best US state with the Best EU country (Massachusetts vs norway) Massachusetts ranks higher in quality of life (see above) The average Massachuset (if that's how you say it lol) makes slightly less money than the average Norwegian However the average Massachusett has significantly more purchasing power and wealth than the average Norwegian Now where norway leads is in safety Norway 0.53 per 100k Massachusetts 1.97 per 100k Both are stupidly low but in norwat its basically impossible to be killed or assaulted by another human being but overall massachussets is a better place to live than Norway and every european country _______________ Money There are only 3 european countries where the average wage per year was higher than Americas Lux, Switzerland, and Iceland (hail joispoi) And when it comes to purchasing power the US ranks higher than every European country except Switzerland, norway, Luxembourg and Ireland __________ Safety Now where europeans have a genuine case against america almost every european country has lower crime rates than america The us and canada?(HUH???) ranks lower than almost every european country However The US is being held back significantly by certain states and one of the interesting finds is the states with the freest gun laws actually are not only some of the safest in the country but safer than alot of western european countries Also european countries especially the UK :( have significantly more terrorist attacks than the US Also for the people that think the majority or a large % of american schools are shooting grounds 300 out of 166k schools are shot up each year meaning you have less than a 0.4% chance of your school being shot up and since tha majority of school shootings only have 1-5 kids killed/injured means that the chances of you getting shot at an American school are little to none. _____ Also the cost of living in America is significantly lower than in europe despite homes being much bigger and modern Home in new Hampshire for 290k (significantly above the national average) Home in Connecticut for 300k Last thing I would like to link Taxes are significantly cheaper in the USA and alot of states dont even have income or sales tax Cost of living in usa is significantly cheaper Wages are alot higher Quality of life is decent and in some states excellent Job opportunities are plentiful in the US especially compared to europe (except uk and Germany) TLDR: Some states in america are really good but most are decent to average The average american makes 50-60k a year USA isnt as dangerous as its portrayed Homes in america are cheaper and bigger than homes in western europe America isnt the best country at all but its certainly not third world Also! This is why you dont drink coffee late at night

not exactly The US has extreme lows and extreme highs when it comes to things. Canada for me has bad aspects, but they are average lows, and the good is extreme highs. I will say however, Canada is trending down in terms of being good.
2020-08-02 06:11
having twice the homeless rate of america and having a similar murder rate to a country with 330million people and loose gun laws seems pretty low to me
2020-08-02 06:12
You're counting 1 statistic, and one law to determine the lows of a country, that don't even really pertain to the average Canadian. Gun laws have almost zero affect on me, or to most people and frankly we have far less mass shootings per capita. I am against our gun laws, but I still fail to see how thats super relevant when it comes to quality of a country. We had 0 mass shooting in 2019 from what I can tell. Try comparing that to that of the USA who had like 18 or thereabouts. Compare also the amount of riots and looting. Surely is a far worse story in the US LOL.
2020-08-02 06:21
Fair I guess However the lows of first world countries still are pretty useless considering that the average citizen will never experience those problems
2020-08-02 06:21
No thats actually not true, The amount of people incarcerated in the US is far greater than any other country. 70 million people have records, that's more than a fifth of all americans In Canada the percentage of males who have records is 23.4%, the percentage of females is 4%. That averages out to 13.7% of everyone in Canada. Going back, the US has over 500 thousand homeless people on a given night, whereas Canada has 35 thousand. I cant find the statistic for yearly in the US, but canada has 235 thousand different people per year. That's literally half of what the US gets in a night.

Whaaat? We have <2/100 000 murder rate vs 5.0/100 000 at the US!!! How come you can see this as close? You have the same murder rate in UK than here.... did you checked your facts? Moreover, we do have more homeless people... but... we have 157k homeless for 37,5 million people so 0.4% of our population, UK have 280k for 66.6 million people, so ... 0.4% too.... From the UN : 2019 Human Development Index Ranking : Canada 13th, UK and USA 15th tie

Crime, all kinds of taxes, racism, police brutality, high pop of homeless in big cities, shootings, etc.. Realisticly speaking, not worth it to imigrate, and I'm pretty sure americans would appreciate. 2020-08-02 06:34
All kinds of taxes??? The US has lower taxes than almost every eu country and some states dont even have income or sales tax Racism??? You mean the racist country where asian americans, Indian americans and NIGERIAN Americans make significantly more money than the average white american high pop of homeless in big cities??? Yeah just like every major city in the world not to mention germany, canada and the uk have lower homeless rates than america Shootings??? If you went to america you basically have a 0% chance of some crackhead blowing your brains out, shootings dont happen everywhere and like I said the states with the freest gun laws are safer than half of western european countries You clearly didnt read the thread
2020-08-02 06:39
For example, few days ago I found out you have to pay taxes every year for your own house. Other example is how annoying is to buy products, you never know the final price, cause the prices showing are all untaxed. Racism, black and whites mostly, you never know when a colored crackhead decides to f*** you up just cause he thinks he's right to do so.. I live in west London, in 8 years I've seen two homeless people. Look up LA, San Francisco, New York tour, they're everywhere.. Imagine having a kid there, some kid gets bullied and decides to bring a gun into the school. Why go through all that stress?
2020-08-02 06:51
1.yet those taxes are still significantly cheaper than the ones found in western European countries 2.dude I'm black and I went to New York which is a mostly white state and nobody batted an eye at me or treatedme as if I was less of a person than them , I also saw more mixed couples there than in liverpool or London 3. Major cities Majority of america Choose one 4. Yet again the chances of your kid dying to some mentally I'll asshole with horrible parents is extremely low
2020-08-02 06:58
alright, I see there's no point in arguing... give me a green card and I'll move to America

2020-08-02 09:37
"Racism??? You mean the racist country where asian americans, Indian americans and NIGERIAN Americans make significantly more money than the average white american" Yes, racism can only happen in work areas. Not like it happens in real life or something... Idk what kind of logic is this but i can tell you that no matter what you earn, you can experience racism, it doesn't have any correlation with financial status of somebody or some ethnic group.
2020-08-02 19:41
Asian Americans makes more money because they works harder since childhood, stop crying, same education, experience. White>Asians blacks Fact
2020-08-02 23:33
As someone said above, USA has extreme highs and extreme lows, it’s a great country to visit and even live in most of the states. Still, the American population has a lot of extremism and ignorance that makes them quite unlikeable from my personal experiences visiting USA. It’s a good country depending where are you going and an awful country depending where are you going.
2020-08-02 06:28
The same applies for basically any country with a decently high population Like have you seen Birmingham? Or any other slums in the UK there literally third world but there are also extremely nice places such as liverpool and alot of areas in Scotland/wales
2020-08-02 06:42
Yeah, I just believe the disparity between the high and low in US is bigger than in. other problems. The hate in Hltv is way out of proportion, tho.
2020-08-02 06:50
Birmingham I can agree is shit, but then you say Liverpool is extremely nice as a comparison??? you must be from liverpool or visited the docks once then left. i assure you Liverpool has its own really shitty places lmao, it's not that much better than manchester and birmingham. if you wanted to suggest nice places literally suggest any of the villages that litter the country lol, they're all over in Yorkshire and Kent for example.

The USA is a diverse trash heap, that will crumble in the coming decades.
2020-08-02 07:42
Incorrect. We need to get rid of liberals and left-leaning ideologies, after that, our country will be stable. I'm convinced that Liberals are single-handedly ruining this country.
2020-08-02 09:10
define "left leaning ideologies" imo the USA just needs a political reset, the government is too bloated and old, parties are more accountable to money then the people
2020-08-02 09:39
Anyone who votes Democrat. More specifically, anyone who supports Bernie Sanders. Fuck him. The level of narcissism, laziness and self-entitlement democrats have still boggles my mind. These people believe they are entitled to things like a house, an Internet connection, and free food just simply for existing. It's fucking infuriating to see, as someone who has worked hard my whole life for everything I own, to see these 20 year olds that do nothing but sit on their fucking phones all day bitching about how the world's not fair, when they live in the best country in the world and are completely free to start making money in however way they choose.
2020-08-02 10:39
you do realize that whole "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality is becoming more and more of a pipe dream every day? I'm talking about healthcare. I'm talking about not invading 3rd world countries for no good reason. I'm talking about not having the largest prison population in the world, or jailing people for marijuana use. The USA is by no metric the best country in the world.
2020-08-02 11:15
HAHA, typical Lazy Liberal mentality of "muh healthcare, muh drugs" We also have reasons for invading countries, it does not happen for no reason. If you are talking about Iraq and Afghanistan, you know exactly why we invaded them. However, our healthcare system has nothing wrong with it. It is affordable, IF YOU WORK. If you earn a living by working your way up the chain (which is completely possible, we're not living in India), you will make enough money to afford healthcare. It is expensive, because believe it or not, it isn't cheap to amputate a limb or remove cancer from someone. We don't throw all our money into a public healthcare system, because it is theft. Why should I pay for someone else's broken leg? I shouldn't. It's immoral and undeserved, especially for those who haven't worked a day in their lives, yet act like they're entitled to everything (liberalism). I support private businesses who I know are helping those who earned their way to also support that private business. As for largest prison population in the world, I don't care. People are in prison because they broke the law. If you use marijuana and it's illegal where you are, you go to jail. It's the law. Don't break it, don't get jailed. Pretty fucking simple if you ask me.
2020-08-02 11:24
You don't have a problem with people being jailed for no reason? For --- for not hurting anyone? Is it okay for gay people to be jailed ]in Saudi Arabia? By your logic, sure, they broke the law fair and square! If you think wealth is anywhere near an accurate function of work, then you've got your head so far up your own ass no one can save you. Hahaha -- gotta love conservatives, pro life until the baby is born. Sorry hun, should have spent that extra 400$ a month to cover you baby's lung collapsing. Oh shit, your mom can't afford to feed you, so you have to drop out of high school to work full time. Tough luck kid, maybe if you work hard enough you might live to 50. Oh god land prices are so high you can't possibly pay for it on your own even while working full time? Guess I'll have to live with 5 filth wizards for the next 5 years. None of these medications have to be this expensive, the prices are hiked, the system is broken.
2020-08-02 11:45
I never said Saudi Arabia was a good country. It is legal to be gay and marry as a gay couple in the United States. Marijuana is not the same thing. It is a gateway drug that ruins people's lives. Jailtime is the only thing that can put that in a drug addict's head. Healthcare is affordable if you work hard for more money. It's as simple as that. I did it, and I always have a backup of money (at least 50k) for medical bills. If you're good at budgeting and have even a low paying job, you can afford healthcare. There is no excuse.
2020-08-02 11:59
Marijuana is a victimless crime. Therefor it should not be illegal. Doesn't really matter. The results of having what do you have to say to the thousands of Americans that do work hard, and still barely make ends meet? what do you have to say to all of the physically disabled? people who were injured and can't work, people who were fired and can't find any high enough paying jobs? the thousands of american veterans left with major injuries and mental health problems, totally and completely abandoned by their country? It's great that you were born into a situation where you could succeed, and further, that you had the right skills, and enough luck to succeed in your ventures. But not everyone was born into stable environments, or received the right education, or had parents to back them up. Sometimes people get fucked. That's a fact of life. But in the USA, there's no safety net. Sometimes people get injured, and they can't afford to make a claim, they can't afford to sue their insurance company if they get screwed over. what do you have to say to all these people? are they lazy? did they just not work hard enough? They are living contradictions to your world view.
2020-08-02 22:56
Yes man if we all just vote for Republican politicians whose only directive is helping their wealthy donors, then everything will just work out and America will be great again. And of course the 20 year olds are at fault for entry level jobs all being shipped overseas and automation. What do you do for a living anyway? I've never heard engineers or scientists who're doing the real high level work that keeps society running telling other people to get a real job or "muh bootstraps".
2020-08-02 23:16
Don't be so dramatic. America is enormously powerful with the strongest geographical positioning in the world.
2020-08-02 23:23
White minority = death of America.
2020-08-02 23:57
Why are you so obsessed with skin color? We have a white majority now and I don't see any quality union jobs. So clearly skin color isn't fixing any problems.
2020-08-03 02:14
We barely have a White majority. Diversity destroys unions btw, Whole Foods (Amazon) basically admitted to it. But obviously, diversity isn't the only problem.
2020-08-03 03:54
Lmao what? How does diversity destroy unions? And Amazon saying what makes unions work or not isn't a reliable source for very obvious reasons.
2020-08-03 05:31
Of course Amazon is a reliable source. These huge companies know how to squash unions. It's in their favor after all. Diversity creates division and destroys any chance for people to come together and work for their class interests. So I wish leftists that preach for unions, health care, and other things would fight for a homogeneous society to achieve all those things.
2020-08-03 06:47
Why would they tell anyone that? And where's your source for this? Unions don't exist because Republicans flat out don't support them and enable large corporations to union bust. That's really what it comes down to. And why don't lots of unions exist in these Midwestern, white states? Because according to your logic they should.
2020-08-03 10:58 It's not the only reason, corporatism plays a large role. But diversity decreases your chances of unionization.
2020-08-03 18:15
Corporatism definitely plays a much larger role than diversity. And keep in mind the white workers can just remember their parents/grandparents had good union jobs and immigrant groups or African Americans never had that experience. In fact that probably is the actual reason.

The US has historically only had European immigrants. And I have a feeling that's not what you mean by "diverse".
2020-08-12 21:13
I don’t really care stats. I have lived in both Canada and the US for a whie. And I have visited Western Europe several times. Based on my experience, both Canada and the US are ok. I wouldn’t Live in Western Europe. The cost of living in Western Europe is unbearable. And everything is in a smaller package, the house, road, car, even the fuking drive through. Canada is similar to Australia. Everything is average. I got mixed feelings for the US. The big cities like LA are nice. but they are overpopulated and overpolluted. Traffic is a nightmare. homeless people are everywhere.

99.99% of people saying the US is third world are joking. However, there are many different quality of life indices, each of which are strongly influenced by what the creator thinks is important in life (large houses, good healthcare, high income). They aren't all irrelevant, but they should be taken with a pinch of salt. For instance, how does this quality of life scale with income? How skewed is it by people at the top of the pay scale? What if people are earning less, but have more workplace rights, PTO, shorter commutes etc? How much corporate lobbying is there? How much does the average citizen spend on healthcare? (not purely directly, but also through their government) As far as I can tell, none of the indices you used account for these things.

USA is a good country if you are white, healthy and wealthy. It is a very bad country if you lose your job, get sick or you are born black. It is just annoying that most Americans actually think that their country is the best in every category. This is at least partly due to the very poor education. There are sooo many things fundamentally wrong in the US from a European perspective. Things that are undeniably better here. Americans just refuse to accept that other countries can be superior. - Healthcare - education - safety - politics - environment These are not minor issues. And Americans are still not able to understand that you personally benefit from other people getting a good education and good healthcare. But on the other hand, America is better in other categories like - bureaucracy - Communities - Support for businesses TL;DR USA is not the worst, but far from the best. Americans don’t see it this way though.
2020-08-02 08:35
Dude I've heard of plenty of people being discriminated for a job in Germany. European countries aren't the paragon of equality.
2020-08-02 23:18
Really, that is your point now? You have heard that Somebody won’t get a job, because the interviewer is retarded / racist? I have heard that your police kills black people for no reason. Since we are doing a comparison here: What might be worse?
2020-08-02 23:29 "For example, across the bloc, the frequency of discrimination among people of African descent is 9%, while in Germany it is 14%. The agency also found that people with "foreign-sounding names" were 24% less likely than those with German names to be called in for an interview."

Wouldn't that completely flood the said mod's inbox though? I find it hard to believe that anyone would agree that their thread needed to be 404'd

That happens whenever someone gets banned too. If the reason is obvious, then no one's gonna go flood the mod's inbox and risk a ban.

Europeans are just sad that they live under communism, so they project their hatred onto Americans. Our country is quite possibly the safest and most stable in the world, we just don't reward people for sitting on their ass, like all these communist countries that hate us do.

Honestly I could see why you'd prefer living in your country rather than America. But there is no denying that overall, America is a good place to live in. Unless you're European, Japanese or some high class on any 3rd world country that isn't a complete shithole (like Venezuela) then you might weigh your chances between living in the US and living where you are. Anything below that you 100% consider going to USA and you'd love to be there. If this were not the case then people wouldn't emigrate so often to the US. The country had immense growth on the last 100 years or so for a reason. And they have a constant problem with borders because people desperately want in. America is far from being a BAD country. It has a lot of flaws, many of which would be easy to fix or are honestly non existent outside of America. But I can hear everyday about people wanting to leave to America and I don't hear about enough Americans saying that stuff is so bad there that they want to leave. Also, America has some really strong culture, but as it can be extremely racist or xenophobe it can also be very friendly and inclusive.
2020-08-02 09:30

It is better economically and civicly than all the European countries. But if i could pick any place to live in the world it'd be Italia or France. People should be seriously sceptical of all the academic and no-so-academic institutions that hype Scandinavia up so much, i see people talk about "quality of life" far too often without stopping to actually question what quality of life actually means, because Scandinavia is safer than U.S , in everything else they're quite below U.S by considerable margins. U.S has higher average income after taxes, lower cost of living, more individual and economic freedom and they live in larger houses at a higher ownership rate than every Scandinavian country (65%) , that alone should already kill the case for Scandinavia. The only country that could seriously hope to compete against U.S economically and civicly is switzerland, as Switzerland is slightly more lax about Gun Laws, still has lower taxes than Scandinavia, California and New York and has quite cheap cost of living in some Cantons. The bad part is that Switzerland doesn't have freedom of speech, in fact, they're just as strict about their holocaust denial laws as Germany, so this is a huge Negative on individual freedom. Really, one should evaluate one own's values and then be honest about one's expectations and most importantly, be realistic about one's own capacities.

YES, BUT STUPID PEOPLE THAT DONT CARE ABOUT FACTS HAVE A RIGHT TO SPEECH WITHOUT LEGAL OR POLITICAL PERSECUTIONS MY DUDE, HOW IN GOD'S GREEN EARTH CANT YOU SEE THIS HOLY SHIT?!?!?!??! For example, if you can't tell how government ceasing the means of production and fully centralize the economy can lead to millions of people dying of hunger you are ignorant to the facts and probably a psycho, yet, your right to seriously claim that it would not lead to that should be protected. The people who think Corona doesn't exist should have the right to protect Corona, just as BLM have the right to protest racism IN GERMANY despite the fact that theres no fucking racism in Germany. Safety is more important than a difference of 50k or 70k per year —>Norway>Massachusetts (also buy power Less of importance) U are also comparing 50 states which have been without war in their boarders in last 250 years to Europe of which the majority (not uk Denmark, Switzerland or Denmark) some of which had war up until 1990 basically and if not, at least poorer development and many civil crises in general. Also the wealth gap between Norway and Ukraine for example is huge which further stresses the point I made - u just can’t compare EU and US - take those parts u actually could put into comparison (central Europe, West and north (maybe even Baltic’s) ) and u get a much more Europe favoured result and still u r giving an advantage to the States cuz of their peace times *We Europeans don’t think us is a third world but we think ur development rested if not reversed in the last 40 years - and u wasted opportunities in so FUCKING MANY areas

2020-08-02 23:28
People tend to judge America as one single country when in reality is it actually more like Europe than they think so saying "the US" doesn't really make sense it would be like saying Europe is a shithole, London has so much crime or Sweden has so many rapes or Germany authorities were placing children in the care of paedophiles for 30 years or Greece is an economic ruin that gives benefits to known paedophiles as a government policy. You can't really judge all of Europe for the flaws of the different countries.

The US is great if you're upper middle class or better, but otherwise not so much and you still have to live with a lot of fears and problems. - Healthcare. Even if you're doing okay it can all go to shit if a family member is badly ill and your family loses their insurance. Bankruptcy over medical cost is a real thing in the US. - When comparing cost of living you also need to factor in setting money aside for education. - Gun violence. Yes the risk may be low, but it is real and impacts so many things. Imagine how it is going to school and learning how to deal with a shooter, that alone is not exactly great for feeling safe. - The so called American dream. Social mobility is bigger in Europe, so that is more real here. - Social security. We may pay more taxes, but we also get a lot for the money - and our politicians are a lot less corrupt. In the US money votes, that is much less a problem here.
2020-08-03 00:07
1. No being poor in any eu country is wayyyyyy better than being poor in america but the middle class and especially the upper class is much better 2. You do realise that insurance is only 600$ a month and a god insurance plan covers essentially everything alot of jobs even give you insurance as one of the benefits 3.this isnt important at all nor is it an issue 4. For the american dream id just like to say thag the US is the most moved to country in the world and only 25% of millionares in america inherited there money from rich parents which is lower than any first world country However for the taxes and them being used for more important things is kinda valid
2020-08-12 05:49
1. And you know this how? 2. "Only" $600 and covers everything!? Look up the concept of co-payments, those are no joke and neither are those only $600 as that is hardly pocket change for those scraping by. Much of America don't have a way to deal with a $400 emergency, as in if there is one they'll have to try and borrow the money or attempt to sell something. 3. It is not an issue that kids are taought to be on the alert in case there is a shooter, that the police is so scared of anyone they contact may have a gun they shoot many more people than police elsewhere, that gun deaths is so every day in the US it is not even news and that even mass shootings is regular. Not important! 4. Not saying you can not make it in the US, but the numbers you quote does not say anything about it being easier in the US. Here is some relevant data: You'll see the US is ranked #27 on the list and of the 26 countries doing better 21 is in Europe, the UK is btw. one of them although I expect Brexit and all will see you guys plummet down the list.
2020-08-12 17:52 are bigger and significantly cheaper, wages are much higher and alot of jobs just straight up cover your health insurance, taxes are cheaper especially income taxes where some states dont even have it, rent prices are lower Like the us does such a good job of catering to people that actually have money but couldnt give less about people that dont, thats why the poverty rate has remained the same for quite some time 2.this issue heavily veries by state, there are literally states where only 3-7% of the population cant afford healthcare from my research states affordability of insurance and healthcare is vastly different 3. Ive literally already counterd this i suggest a re read over the thread 4.pretty fair, thats one of the issues with extremely capatalist countries
2020-08-12 19:10
1. Most US Homes are not much more than cardboard boxes. The way most houses in the US are build is not something that makes them long lasting, it makes them cheap and flashy but despite being bigger they are not better. Also that average income of yours isn't saying much about how things are for normal people, especially when there is a small fraction of super rich people that earns much of that income. The median income is what you should look at: And then guess what, the US is no longer on top, if we factor in average working hours then that US income looks even worse. 2. Is "only 3-7%" unable to afford health care supposed to sound like a good thing? Also lets not forget that because of co-payments, lots of people in the US with insurance still do not get treated unless it is life or death. And just the fact that for many insurance comes with the job, this then mean much more fear of loosing ones job. There is a reason people in the US work so many hours, people do not dare organize so instead they put up unreasonable working hours, little to no vacation, sick days with no payment... simply put this means work-life balance in the US sucks. 3. Not from what I can find. You need to try harder, maybe bring some data that shows gun deaths is a non-issue - not even the NRA will make up such lies. 4. And it is a major issue.
2020-08-12 21:00
1. Theyre actually alot better but ok houses in europe might be built out of stronger materials but the fact that there extremely crammed and outdated doesnt make them very desirable to spend your entire life in Not to mention i literally did research on jobs in different states and it took me less than 30 seconds to find a job that only requires a high school education that pays 55-80k a year and covers your dental, and health insurance you can literally go on indeed and search for highschool diploma jobs in the US and i can gaurantte that the majority of those full time jobs will be paying over 55k a year 2. Ive literally already counterd this i suggest a re read over the thread 3. While ranking 27 isnt anything to brag about thats not necesarilly bad
2020-08-13 03:21
Belgium Miiyata
Wrong on 1st point. Us homes are cheap to buy initially but the cost of maintaining them is wayyyy higher. Isolation sucks, rooftop sucks, requires more electricity usage etc. Built on wooden skeleton, imagine what could happen... On top of that, eu houses go up in value way more than Usa. Quality also is 100x better in EU. You want a bigger house than needed for what? So you have more work cleaning it?
2020-08-13 04:00
I live in the suburbs, so about 30 minutes outside of Boston, Massachusetts. The city itself has its good and bad parts like anywhere else. The state itself - a lot of drivers are shit. We're called MASSholes for a reason - people often don't use their blinkers when switching lanes on the highway or turning on the local streets. And people LOVE to honk their horns lol. The U.S. itself is a good country, but it's not nearly as good as most people / history make it out to be. You're pretty screwed if you're not middle or upper class because it takes so much time to apply for and receive welfare. The healthcare system...let's not talk about it. Even if you get insurance through the company that you work for, plans are still expensive. If you're self employed or unemployed and have to purchase any sort of health insurance separately, be prepared to pay an arm and a leg. The healthcare system in our country is one of our greatest faults because it sets people up for failure and wrings you dry even if you work your ass off to make end's meet.

Of course america isnt a third world country , thats just a response to some muricans claiming america is the greates country on earth, now there is nothing wrong with claiming your country is the best, unless you use this claim to not deal with problems , because u know "We dA BeST" US once was the most progressive , free Country on earth; and any Nation, Society, company ,needs to make progress in order to get better and america is still trapped with the spirit of its forefathers. Take Gun controll, im not arguing if you should or should not implement stricter gun laws , but to quote "the first Ammendment" as if its like a god given right and not a human made law is fucking insane . You constantly have to reevaluate laws and rules in order to make sure that they are still valid in the context of the time you are living in. Healtcare : Im not arguing if you should or should not implement a "european" stile universal HC System but to have a Healthcare system that is based on profit and not on providing the best possible affordable healtcare is fucking insane . This is capitalism gone to far . Capitalism is the best economic system, and a free markets are the best solutions for most problems but not for all. The US has no problem to implement regulations if its in the interest of the profit of big companies but if it would be in the interest of the people its communism. American made medicine, paid by us taxes, is sold in the entire world. An american (U.S.) is charged 200 Dollar for the same pill that costs 20 euro for europeans. They get fucked by theire politicians and ppl in power , while maintaining a smile on theire face thinking its the best thing ever. Prison system - a joke - some prisons are pirvatly owned and get paid based on the amount of inmates . I have no clue why there is a problem with overpopulation and the rate of reoffenders is over 70 % ^^ Education. Lets fund our shools based on the wealth of people living in that era ! Freedom ! Wanna make sure that the best and smartest kids got acces to the best education ? No that would be communism. Infrastructure : Do you have a car ? No. Fine then use uber , but dont use bridges. Police : Lets have the best trained Military in the world, Nice. Wonna also have a well trained police force ? Nah basic traing, but give them military grade equipment , Noice ! And if shit goes down we still have a well trained militia. Political system : 18th century Best democracy in the world .
