What made you start playing cs?
Serbia YuNOliek
Did you start playing with siblings? Real life friends? I hated source with passion, to me it was competitor to cod2 which at the time I thought it was better game (fool, I know). All my friends moved to cod4 promod which I didn't rly like that much and wasn't liking the direction of nobrain run and gun cod games were going. My ex, who also played codè before, bought me csgo and told me it's most aim heavy game there is. i played bots with him few times. I didn't like game at all at first. But then our 7 yr relationship came to an end, other friends were all playing cod and I needed something to keep my mind off dwelling over loss. Had it not been mixture of all this, I don't think I would give game a chance. Sorry for long post. Tldr; my ex got me into cs by gifting it to me few weeks before we broke up. It helped me to forget :) What's your story?

Watched my friend and brother play 1.6
2020-08-10 04:17
I started cod1 that way. Some guys and my bro played 1v1 on home LAN between 2 PCs. They asked me to play but being girl i was scared to suck vs them, so I always refused but kept watching. So when I got my own PC years later first thing I did was install cod2. I wanted to be good at it, prove myself but idk even why lol... none of them even played anymore for me to rek them lol:)
2020-08-10 04:24
Skin gambling and I needed a game I can play in a short span which could give me some sort of an adrenaline rush, since I was fed up playing Dota 2.

I watched my older brother play it three years ago and asked if I can try it. I really liked it even tho I was just playing against bots in a Dust II offline server and didn't really have any idea how to play it at that time. Later that day I asked if he could buy it for me so I could start playing it too, and well here we are today, still enjoying the game as much as the day I first tried it :)
2020-08-10 04:31
Same, somehow I get tired of everything else eventually but idk cs is special to me :)) thanks for post

No problem my friend! And for me personally, the reason why I don't get tired of CS is because there is always something to improve at and I like seeing myself become slightly better everyday. Most games don't have this type of thing so that's why I usually get bored of them over time.
2020-08-10 04:56
Exactly the same ;)
2020-08-10 09:04
I got into cod esport vods on yt, even though i had never played the game itself somewhere along the way i got recommend a nip vs dignitas game so i started watching csgo some. i really wanted bo3, but my mom wouldnt buy it, so i had her buy csgo instead, though i had already been casually watching some csgo for about a year
2020-08-10 04:34
A friend of mine took me to an internet cafe back in the old days and it was the first time i saw 100 gamers + in a building playing LAN games like CS, Warcraft 3 etc. I got hooked immediatly with the game while was having fun with friends. Since then im a fan and ill always be ( though i really disliked CS Source )

First time I heard about it was in 2001, in a video game rental, there was a place where only older people could enter... I didn't know what it was (I was 11). Later that year I played it for the first time on a small lan house (the first I ever saw) on a shopping mall. I remember the first map I ever played was cs_assault. And I thought the M4A1 was the AR33 from Goldeneye. I still play 1.6 to this day (obviously just for fun) it still is my main hobby to relax and chill.

I used to play Dota on cyber cafes since I was 12 yo, and I was the best player among all of others. So the older guys challenged me to play this game named csgo, I got my ass rekt hard, but still liked the game.

Started out with 1.6 back in high school because my friends were playing it. I thought the normal maps sucked because I was so bad at it, which made me mostly play zombie mods lmao

CS was a lifestyle for me and my friends, we were keep running away from the school to play CS 1.6 in internet cafes.. good old days.. (we were like 10-11 years old)
2020-08-10 05:48
Back in the day before Steam existed, we all had 1.5 burned to a cd, during lunch break we go to the internet cafe and run scrims. Not going to lie though I was always into Diablo 2 way more than CS, I love CS but Diablo 2 LOD is my GOAT game without a doubt, also used to love day of defeat. CoD 2 is the best CoD game ever made btw, the only other CoD i've ever liked was world at war and only because it reminded me of some of the older medal of honor games.
2020-08-10 05:48
I was pro at Medal of Honor Spearhead, game died so after Global Offensive came
2020-08-10 06:07
Real life friends loved to play with me in 2014 when I bought it on my bday (holy shit there has been 6 years since that), I stopped playing it somewhat in 2017 and have been global since 2015, there's nothing really I've not done with the game since I never wanted to play faceit if I didn't have friends to do so, my friends have moved on from CS and don't play FPS's like it.

I watched some matches on youtube when I was like 15 but my mom wouldn't let me play it until age 18
2020-08-10 06:53
Came across it a few times when watching youtube back in 2015, everyone was talking about how difficult csgo is so I decided to give it a shot in feb 2016. Mainly played DM, then stopped playing it to go play BO3 again. Sometime in June 2016 my mom and I got into an argument and she took away my PS4, but for some reason didn't mind me playing on our Mac; on that very day I became a CSGO player Tried out comp, got my first rank a few weeks later at silver 3, now I'm hardstuck MG2 for two years looking for a reason to play CSGO

i started playing because of an egirl. then she quit, we broke up our e-relationship but i carried on playing for thousands more hours.
2020-08-10 09:23
is she still playing? :D what rank was she? :D
2020-08-10 09:46
Sadly she quit( she only played a hundred hours. I think we were both silver elite, but I was a lower rank bc she played more than me at the start

Hopefully she didn't give you too much of a heartbreak :( stay safe and thanks for comment :P
2020-08-10 09:50
No problem! It's online, so it's expected not to last too long anyways. Better to meet irl first I think))
2020-08-10 09:51
Well I met my first bf online kinda, we had mutual friend that he then decided to visit. Then I got to meet him in person too and albeit we were really long distance (he was from UK actually LOL) we managed to make it work for almost 7 years. But if you forever stay just online then yeah I guess it is hard :((
2020-08-10 09:54
That sounds like a pretty awesome story, it's great that you stuck together that long. And yea, it lasted a year but ofc if there is no physical touch and going out together etc to places, the relationship can be strained and it can be very hard to keep in touch, especially during any periods of "downtime" where affection and presence is needed the most. Cheers for the convo, very interesting)) And have a good day!

Team Fortress 2 and the Surf Servers there. Enjoyed it quite a lot and thought i'd try CSS surf. Was even better. Got into TF2 bc it was F2P my peers played aswell.

The surf on CS:S was just, perfection.......... such a good times lol

Started playing in Gaming houses (kind of lan shops with 20-50 PCs where you could rent a seat for a few dollars/hours) in 1999 since I couldnt play online from home (Internet connection was shit). CS was the most popular game there and I used to destroy my classmates etc so I fell in love with it.
2020-08-10 10:09
How old are you if you don't mind me asking? :D Sounds like you had a blast lol, old days with shitty pcs :DDD
2020-08-10 10:21
I just turned 31 a few days ago. Yea it's been nice times :) Well we had no idea about cs settings and anything so I guess it was horrible in these terms but didnt felt like it. Cant remember tho but I remember that my sensivity was 15. No idea how it was possible to play like this xD
2020-08-10 10:26
I actually remember playing cs 1.6 for the first time when I was still super angry about it and couldn't fathom why people would want to play such "shitty game" I think it was on cs_assault and because it was community server you basically had to type !guns to get guns. I didn't know that so I always played just with stock which was either usp on that server or deagle :)) noobie times
2020-08-10 10:29
haha yea I think 1999 it was 1.3 or something like that (which is actually way worse than 1.6 if you look at graphics only). Yea, assault was very popular back than :D. Well thats what happens when you just dont know it any better I guess :D
2020-08-10 10:32
>I was a Warface/Combat Arms player. I got tired of playing pay2win games, where those who were rich had advantage >bought CSGO >my computer didn't run other fps games like cod/battlefield, I only had CSGO to play, so I learned to like the game xD but what helped me to stay in CSGO was the competitive scenem, following FalleN and NiP. That was in 2014
2020-08-10 10:16
Since yo ustarted following in 2014, what were the emotions like when luminosity took major the first time? :D

2020-08-10 10:31
Haha even I was super happy! I still remember when they were kabum and they used to get trashed then I think they won map vs fnatic on mirage at some event and I was like "hmm there is something there" :) Was nice moment in history of csgo

Damn, that's old... Heu... Haaaaa... Hoooo.... Don't remember! I remember that we share the source version with a friend around 2004/2005 but the 1.6, can't remember. I don't even recall if I played the 1.6 before Source, I have memories of me playing 1.6 at a LAN in 2005/2006 alongside COD2 and Quake3. We couldn't play much, we had a great player from 1.6, he did a couple of ACE with his deagle, and a guy from the National Belgium Team of Team Fortress with us. We would have been gutted by playing with them too much, although we could compete on Q3 and COD.

Spending my 20€ paycheck a week at the cybercafé when I was 10yo, 20 years ago. The first time was at summer, me and my friends used to go skate/bmx all day and going to the cyber at the afternoon. Played a lot of CS 1.5 there and other HL mods like Vampire Slayer and HL:DM. After that year I bought my first PC and installed CS 1.3. Played A LOT with bots (it was all modded because the bots where "aftermarket"). I used to bring the CD with the CS 1.3 with me wherever I went and ended up installing it on the school and friends computers. Later that year and the next one I bought 1.6 and started playing more serious untill the release of CS:S. When CS:S came out I used to play both just for fun, after that I stopped playing for a while to study. Then I joined a CS:S team that had good representation on Spain (SG Team) and we played a lot of ESL League. After a year or so my team and I started playing BF 2142 and did very good being the best team in Spain. Then I've stopped playing until 2017 that I've installed and enjoyed CS:GO a lot. When it went free the cheaters started to multiplicate then I've stopped playing and now that I'm a grown up man I don't give a fuck hahahahah
2020-08-10 10:57
We also put a lot of games on pcs in primary school, but I don't think it could run cs, at least I don't remember. I vividly remember we used to play this 1v1: The game is called LIERO :)
2020-08-10 11:01
lol I just played a match right now on the web version. I've never played that. hahaha seems funny if you take in mind it is from 1999

Me and my friends at school were plaing League all day long and we decided to play some shooters together. I think we also played Planetside before which is why we even thought about playing shooters and since LoL is a really competitive game, we wanted to play a competitive shooter too. We did play some cod from time to time but it was too casual for us in order for everyone to buy the game. So we came across csgo which had only beed released for like a year and even though we quit for some time and hated the game probably as much as we loved it, it stuck around and now I feel like I wasted by life with over 2k hours

I started playing 1.6 in 2010 I saw a friend play the game and asked what was the name of it, then he let me try the game and I enjoyed it a lot. I played 1.6 until like 2013 maybe. And in 2016 another friend asked me if I have csgo and I bought it because it looked fun and I haven't stopped playing since. I even remember the day I got the game 1st june 2016
2020-08-10 11:54
started with counter strike condition zero back in 2006 or 2007, back then my pc was shit and this was the only game I could run
2020-08-10 12:04
I played 1.6 as a kid with bots because a relative installed it on my pc, I really liked it from the start but never actually put much time into it. In middle school there was this internet cafe me and my classmates used to go to, some of them were obviously better than me and I liked it a lot so I started playing more and more. I then had a bad incident where I got so badly beaten to the point where I was embarrassed to even go out because of the bruises I had on my face (I was 12 at the time), I stayed home all day playing 1.6. Later that summer I got a new laptop and I moved to csgo, and for the next 3 years I spent pretty much all my time playing cs. I haven't played much the last 2 years ( I still played but not 60 hours a week like i used to), still really nice to look back at all the memories.

Does he still play the game? Has he ever tried csgo and got ranked? :P cool dad
2020-08-11 21:56
No he stopped when Source has been released. He then tried a bit of gungame here and there casually but he never touched CS:GO. And the few times he saw me playing ranked CS:GO he was like "this game turned into crap everybody's camping and talking all the time". On 1.6 he was running a community FFA server and used to play only 8vs8 FFA where it was kind of illegal to camp so everybody was just rushing everywhere like 20 IQ dogs
2020-08-11 23:09
LOL 8vs8 imagine the carnage today with that mode

I perhaps would have been CS pro as I'm always dedicated to professional side of games.... since my father said play World of Tanks and CS is shit, started only when I was 18 and it's completely too late and all time is wasted on a game that doesn't even have anymore competitive scene... fk my life
2020-08-11 23:14
???? There is also good money in wot especially the russian scene
2020-08-11 23:17
pretty much no, 7v7 is gone with the biggest prize pools, faceit is dead, nobody plays on faceit anymore WoT because WG is not promoting it at all, 15v15 tournaments happen once every 3 months and only top clan same team just destroys everyone for the prizes that is anyway for 1st place every player each 400euro.... it's all around a joke.
2020-08-11 23:20
You can be good at wot and just stream it or create youtube vids ez money from russian wot viewers
2020-08-11 23:22
I'm too late at everything, I tried to quit it also many times, but there is no other game that I'm good at, so I comeback, it's difficult, don't have pc now for streaming and good internet so basically rip, also got a hang of the game perhaps only after 6 years, it is a really hard game tbh
