I have had this pc for over 2 years now and never had this problem. Every time i open any game my cpu goes to like 95-100c and gets very very loud. What could be the problem

Cooler or thermal paste
2020-08-13 20:54
How often do you need to change thermal paste since i never changed it since i got my pc. The only person i asked said that it could be dust in processor fans since i havent opened the case in like a year

If gaming Pc - every 1 year
2020-08-13 20:59
medium pc its not very very good but i use it mostly for gaming
2020-08-13 20:59
I haven't changed my thermal paste in 7 years and I never go past the 50s in games.
2020-08-13 21:02
You're playing roblox on an i3
2020-08-13 21:09

Why not lie and say you have a better cpu if you've already committed to lying about your temps lmao

Why would I lie you sad muppet?
2020-08-14 08:09
Everyone is wondering the same thing xD Strong pathological liar vibes
2020-08-14 08:32
You must be a deeply troubled young man. To think a CPU can't stay below the 60s, you just don't know computers. I guess you buy pre builts from iBuyPower or something. Sorry if you hit the 90s playing CS.
2020-08-14 10:32
That dogshit power hungry CPU isn't sitting under 50 for 7 years when it's average load temps are 55 xD
2020-08-14 17:31
Thermal paste lasts over 10 years I didn't change it for over 6 years my pc was fine. Think about it people use computers for over a decade and they function fine... thermal paste can probably last 20 years or so.
2020-08-14 17:55
You don't need to change thermal paste every year, but that's irrelevant to him lying about his CPU never going over 50 for 7 years.
2020-08-14 18:03
It's very possible it never goes much above 60 a high-end cooler on a quad-core CPU, I used to own a 4770k and OC'd it to 4.4ghz never went above the high 60s unless it was a really hot summers day. Although if it stays that low he should probably OC it as he clearly has the headroom.
2020-08-14 18:07
60 isn't 50, and he's talking about gaming temps.
2020-08-14 18:09
You got all the mentally illnesses haha. My CPU never hits 60 even in games. You mad bruh?
2020-08-14 18:30
"You got all the mentally illnesses haha" I'm so mad that you can't afford a good CPU, you caught me.
2020-08-14 18:45
I own 2 properties. I can most definitely buy a new CPU. I don't need one.

"since i havent opened the case in like a year" dude - open this PC's fkin case and clean it up. EVERYTHING. And remove cpu as sakaaa told u, apply new thermal paste and remove dust from every possible angle
2020-08-13 21:00
Brazil sakaaa
this is pretty much it. 1. disassemble cooler and cpu, 2. clean everything 3. apply new paste 4. check external coolers just in case 5. check power supply to see if it's not tilted, also just in case

it really depends on the brand, but you usually don't need to worry about this for at least 2, 3 years if your cooling is ok. BUT, some maintanance shops uses diluted paste or bad quality (and some purposefuly use less than recquired so you come back). It's also common that the thingy that holds the cooler loses grip - this is more often the issue rather than the paste itself

Clean the dust out of the fan. It can basically be sealed shut with dust if that’s the problem
2020-08-13 21:07
Dust / Thermal paste , be sure CPU fan is working as intended . You are good to go
2020-08-13 21:11
2 years haven't cleaned your PC? Sure is full of dust.
2020-08-13 21:23
blow on it 😗💨
2020-08-13 21:23
thermal paste cleaning get some pressurized air, take your pc apart and clean up all the parts. put new thermal paste on the graphics card and processor what case do you have and how many fans and where are they located? what is ur cpu gpu
2020-08-13 21:24
idk what case but i dont think i have fans
2020-08-13 21:35
i think i only have fans on the processor
2020-08-13 21:41
thats a big problem. you should have a case with one or two fans at the front sucking air in and one at the back sending air out. is it intel processor? is it the cooler that comes with the processor? if so, please get a new one
2020-08-13 21:51
yes intel processor but weird that i havent had a problem for 3 years now
2020-08-13 21:52
not that weird. there is only so much a cpu can endure. if you dont clean it for 3 years you will have problems for sure. plus, if you smoke in the same place as your computer, you will accumulate even more dust and grease. i had a quick search on a croatian PC website, im not sure if its legit but buy that and that take pc apart clean everything bit of alcohol to clean thermal paste and apply new one. your pc will be good for a while. if you need something for the long run just buy a cpu cooler like this its not the best but its not some cheap shit. it will actually keep the temperatures low as long as you dont Overclock. if you overclock you will for sure need a new case and better cooler. ultimately you will want some fans on the cases like i described above for better airflow. save some money buy a nice case with fans and a nice air flow system. if you buy the right one you will not need to think about that for a long time. i have this one at the moment and im pretty happy. add some more fans if you want after a while.
2020-08-13 22:39
+1 you stole the words from my mouth (hands) :D
2020-08-13 21:45
very dry paste and shitty cooler man, also your case might not have a lot of airflow
2020-08-13 21:27
Change thermal paste and clean dust from your pc. I've had same problem with overheating even in winter (not even mention in summer days) , my pc crashed after few minutes of playing. I opened my cpu to check the state of the paste and it was all dry like sticky dust. I put new paste and my temperatures dropped like crazy. Never crashed ever again or overheated after that. The noise could come from a broken GPU fan (just check where the noise comes from). Replace parts and it should be fine.
2020-08-13 21:42
is it 100% broken? Because i hear the noise at the same time a little bit after it gets hot.
2020-08-13 21:45
bruh you tell me that ! I can't check your pc for you lol , when I talk about GPU fan , I talk about my own experience/case. My pc was very loud and I found out that the GPU fan didnt spin very well causing very much noise and wasn't very effective at cooling. First check where the problematic noise is located before thinking about next step.
2020-08-13 21:49
Either its CPU fan - GPU fan that should be replaced to remove the loud noises. Try to run your pc without GPU and see if the noise still persists.
2020-08-13 21:54
or maybe its just dusty?
2020-08-13 21:57
Go try what people have recommended you then come back ask questions again if that fails. But it is very unlikely that dust cause that much noise , the main problem are the fans and in some cases the hard disks.
2020-08-13 22:03
United States camdavis9
you should probably clean out all the dust and replace the thermal paste. Usually you don't have to replace thermal paste for a few years but these are the first things I would assume is the issue if one day your cpu suddenly keeps overheating
2020-08-13 21:53
You could have a fan that is not working, it happens that a fan dies. Take the lid of and see what is what when it is running just doing nothing, even then the CPU fan(s) should be running. Or depending on the exact setup, you may be able to just run say OpenHardwareMonitor to see what revs the fans are doing. Also as others mentions there could be some dust build up, however it is likely to cause anything as severe as you describe. Normal amounts of dust will only raise temperatures a little ie. making fans run a little faster to do the job.
2020-08-13 21:58
i guess its a mix of a lot of dust and termal paste. I will check tomorrow, ty
2020-08-13 22:02
Sorry I did miss a "un" in what should have been unlikely. I've seen computers living in pretty dusty/dirty conditions and the dust build had little effect, with the exception that some fan bearing may be filled with dust only that is less likely with most fans found these days. Also I do doubt that there could be a sudden issue with thermal paste. My guess is you either have a defective CPU fan or if you moved the computer around, then the CPU cooler has come lose somehow.
2020-08-13 23:10
CPU/GPU fan is most likely damaged yup
2020-08-13 23:37
likely or unlikely ? xD edit your comment to avoid confusion.

It can be thermal paste or cooler too far from cpu. Also sometimes updating bios can work, when my cpu was overheating l did that and now its stable at 70c while playing cs, you should try this out.
2020-08-13 22:05
it needs some icecream
2020-08-13 22:05
hold up im boutta laugh
2020-08-13 22:06
just clean the dust off, check if all the fans are working, maybe you need new thermal paste, maybe your bios settings messed up.
2020-08-13 22:07
either thermal paste or you need to clean it
2020-08-13 22:11
only 3 things could cause this: - thermal paste needs reapplying - pc full of dust (needs cleaning) - temperature outside is very hot (anything above 20 something celsius)
2020-08-13 23:03
maybe u are too hot
2020-08-13 23:06

had the same problem once. Bought a new cooler with new paste, and it ran like a dream afterwards.

Iran yashpashar
Pop the cooler off, make sure its not full of dirt, clean the most likely dried up thermal paste from the heatsink and the ihs, put some new thermal paste on an tada! Ur pc now runs as cool as it did when brand new
2020-08-14 08:12
- clean dust - take off CPU cooler and clean dust from there too - replace thermal paste - check if all fans are running (you can also change fan spinning speed in bios)(not recommended tho if there is issues with components) IF none of those helps then its RIP pc
2020-08-14 10:37
Buy water cooling.
2020-08-14 10:38
-Replace thermal paste. -Buy a better cooler. -If the case doesnt have good air flow, make sure it is getting cool air and throwing the hot air in the case successfully, the hot air shouldnt be stuck inside
2020-08-14 10:50
- check that u are not secretely performing any distributed computing (i.e. mining) when u have a full screen game
2020-08-14 17:44
Have you ever changed the thermal paste? - No? then do that lmao
2020-08-14 17:58
put some ice on it
2020-08-14 17:59
dont use amd))
2020-08-14 18:00
You might need to reapply your thermal paste, or your fan/AIO might have died. Clean the dust out of the fans and air filters in your case too.
