Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
drumming, reading
2020-09-12 12:01
4/10 right now, I would say you need some more active hobbies, at least two to balance your current hobbies.
2020-09-12 12:12
drumming is pretty active dude, (depending)
2020-09-12 17:05
Not as active as sports and martial art class for example
2020-09-12 17:18
true, but I think a 4/10 is too low. 5/10 6/10 imo. Cuz there are so many hobbies that require you to only sit down and literally not do much of anything. Again, depending on the genre, drumming can be a pretty intense workout lol
2020-09-12 17:25
Well this is my rating thread and in my eyes drumming and reading is not 5/10 or 6/10

2020-09-12 12:02
Interesting so it's related hobbies and also very active. I would give it 7/10, I recommend you getting hobby that you can do indoor, just to try something different
2020-09-12 12:13
indoor im going to gym and boxing or play video games in free time too. so its fine.
2020-09-12 12:16
That's good, you should have mentioned boxing, 8.5/10

2020-09-12 12:04
3/10 right now, guitar is awesome but you need more hobbies.
2020-09-12 12:14
Says who? Is there a law that tells you that you need at least 3-5 hobbies to be happy? If you are happy with only one hobby, why get more?
2020-09-13 09:26
More hobbies make you more interesting as a person and more productive. You will also be much happier as a person so why limit yourself with one hobby ? Maybe that's just me but I prefer to hang out with people who have a lot of hobbies, they are much more interesting as a person and not as boring as people who come home go to gym and watch netflix whole evening. I have over 10+ hobbies which I do constantly and I don't limit myself and always try something new
2020-09-13 09:34
Thats a very self-centered and ignorant point of view. "You will also be much happier as a person" You generalize everyone by your own living standards. If you enjoy many hobbies thats good for you man, but just because you become happier with it that doesn't mean everyone will. I mainly read and write as my hobbies and I have never been happier in my life, even though I used to do a lot more things, like badminton, swimming, drumming and a lot more
2020-09-13 09:38
I'm not talking about myself I talk about many other people. Few months ago I introduced my overweight friend to martial art class, he didn't like it at first but I convinced him that this is for a better good. Now he is looking very fit, also started going to gym and we go to classes together. He says I changed his life. There are many people I helped getting into a different kinds of hobbies and all of them are much happier as a person. Many people live in their own shell and never go out, you have to force them out and they will like it and will be thankful.
2020-09-13 09:40
Your perception of happiness is very juvenile still. but I remain hopeful as you presumably have a lot of time to re-evaluate your thoughts yet
2020-09-13 19:22
I'm old enough to know what true happiness is :)
2020-09-13 19:24
Good for you then :))
2020-09-13 19:27
You can also come out as egoistic, self centered and narcissistic, because you think that you are interesting since you can talk about yourself and your hobbies for hours, when in reality nobody cares.
2020-09-13 18:15
People obviously care who they are talking to, otherwise I wouldn't have so many close friends.
2020-09-13 18:16
Good for you then, if all your friends are so honest and selfless.

Literature (both prose and poetry) Running (inconsistent at it) Buying and playing vinyl records Used to be interested in technology (now I don't follow it as closely) Is music listening considered as a hobby?
2020-09-12 12:07
6.5/10, you have good hobbies. I would consider listening to music as a hobby because you buy vinyl records. Can you explain to me a little bit more what vinyl records are ? Literature is also awesome, I would recommend getting an instrument!
2020-09-12 12:15
Old format of analog music storage, basically a physical copy of an album or single. You play them on a turntable. Yeah, instrument would be a great addition
2020-09-12 12:19
Damn those things still exist ? How is the quality of music ?
2020-09-12 12:20
Yeah, vinyl revival is happening right now. It's amazing compared to streaming services/digital recordings, but you have to keep them clean and static-free. Plius it feels damn good to physically own a copy

Ofc its "basic", but its good enough. I dont need to fill my day with a shit ton of different activities if i can do a few and put a lot of time into them. And be satisfied with that. Also idk if id call trying to find ambient with country influences as a "basic hobby" lol
2020-09-12 12:21
Well, you're already inconsistent with reading and everybody is listening to music. Unless you're working 12 hours a day you need more hobbies, I would recommend a sport or a martial art class, just to move your body more often.

"but he hasnt given any higher rating than 6.5/10" Take a look at the thread again.
2020-09-12 20:17
There is no such things as 10/10 hobbies. I only rate combination of hobbies little bit higher and hobbies that are rare like skydiving for example. You care to hear my hobbies or why do you leave such an angry message here ?

Drumming DJing Tennis video games
2020-09-12 12:27
Pretty good 7.5/10, love djing and drumming combination. I'm thinking about getting into djing, what controller do you have ? I plan on getting ddj 400 just to try it out.
2020-09-12 12:39
I learnt drumming and DJing only by myself so I started with basic stuff and it was enough just to know if I'm going to persevere. I started with numark party mix (70€ more or less) but now I'm on this thomann.de/de/denon_mc7000.htm It quite depends on what kind of music you want to play, I like mixing dubstep so having 4 channels is way better but really not something you should be looking for if you're more into techno or house
2020-09-12 12:48
Yes I like techno and house more, I will start from there
2020-09-12 12:50
Yes so you should definitely look into more complete 2 channel controllers, enjoy man, the beginning is super hard but if you persevere, it becomes really self rewarding
2020-09-12 12:53

I do photography drone videography recently started playing basketball in a club, like 2 months ago martial art class, doing krav maga right now, been doing muay thai for 3 years before gym of course but wouldn't consider it a hobby to be honest scuba diving playing a keyboard hiking fooling around on motorcycle with friends yesterday ordered ddj 400 controller, I want to get into DJing and I also want to get into sim racing if you can consider it a hobby, I will buy a very expensive setup soon. Always looking to try something new! Next year I want to get over my fear and try skydiving!

2020-09-12 12:39
A good combinations! 8.5/10, you should try hiking with other people or friends, it's fun! Playing an instrument would make it 9/10, ever thought about keyboard or guitar ?
2020-09-12 12:42
I started with hiking in high school with the geography teacher and some class mates. After high school I became very closed person and I dont really talk to people, so I enjoy going alone.

You should start socializing, you will be more happier trust me!

I just broke up with my girlfriend like few days ago, so now my hobbies are running, working out, meeting with friends, reading books, vaping ( i got really sad after the shit with my girlfriend so i started vaping 20mg nicotine salt ), meeting with family and of course playing cs
2020-09-12 12:37
Wouldn't consider most of them hobbies, more like things you enjoy doing but hobbies are something you dedicate your time for. 5.5/10, try something unique! Don't give up after a break up, everyone is going through this.
2020-09-12 12:43
Edit: wrong reply :D
2020-09-12 12:49
Okay, i will try searching for new hobbies:) Nah man im good, not going to give up, have to go on in life u know
2020-09-12 13:18
I highly doubt that there are any "unique" hobbies
2020-09-13 09:31
There obviously are, what do you mean ?
2020-09-13 09:34
im an animalist , which means i love animals. I have 1 fish tank 200litres with chichilds in it , bearded dragon lizard , 2 tarantulas , turtle , giant cocroaches , dog ,cat , also i do alot of gym workouts, but not proper gym to pump muscles. I do alot of cardio instead , like rowing machine , running , bike + push ups and stuff like that.
2020-09-12 12:43
That's very cool dude! A lot of animals to take care of, don't know about giant cocroaches but I don't judge :D 8.5/10, I don't think you need more hobbies but playing an instrument is always cool!
2020-09-12 12:53
I was trying to play drums ( i had yamaha dtx 400) , cuz my older brother playing guitarr and sing (he's rockstar inside his lil world ;) ) , but i didn't enjoy it , so i sold my electronic drumkit just few months after i purchased it , and about cocroaches , type Hissing cocroach on YT , ull see what i mean :P. Cocroaches are very smart animals besides . I enjoy watching them and they behaviours.
2020-09-12 12:59
Interesting, definitely not my cup of tea but if you enjoy it it's the only thing that matters! At least you tried instrument and realized it's not for you, that's good!

Interesting list, I would give it 8/10, what’s your mountain bike ?
2020-09-12 18:15
Thanks. I'm running two very classic ones: - A Specialized FSR Elite upgraded/modded in all sorts of ways. - A Santa Cruz Chameleon hard tail rigged up as a single speed light way thing. and on occasion I also ride my friends Santa Cruz full sus bikes, he is forever swapping bikes and always has two or three we thinker with (it also means I do not need to bring a bike when I fly over). I love that bikes are like PC's, a collection of parts one can swap and tweak endlessly only of course one must not forget the main purpose is riding. Are you also mountain biking? If so what is your take of the whole wheel size revolution ?
2020-09-12 18:26
I don't have a mountain bike, just some old bike that I have since I was 18. I was thinking about buying one, I hike a lot and a bike won't hurt plus I want to get a better bike. I have around 2k euro to spend, what are my options ?
2020-09-12 20:22
Lots of options with that budget. Still do remember to factor in helmet, shoes, gloves and clothes. I recommend taking a look at Rose Versand, it is a really good German bike shop that has their own bike brand also. They have everything and prices are usually good. Also note that by this time of year the bike of next year are presented, so there is usually good offers to be found. With your budget I recommend going for a full suspension bike, the best you can do it pick up a few bike magazines and get a feel for what is on offer and what takes your fancy. Bike is a great magazine, one that I often pick up: bike-magazin.de/ You can also consider starting with a 2nd hand bike, lots of people swap bikes often and there is also some that buy a bike only to find it was not for them anyway or that the just don't have the time. Maybe look for a local bike club in your area or a bike shop that has a community of people that ride, that is something I have great experiences with - even to the degree that I have been allowed to fix my bike at the local shop after hours with them even leaving me on my own in the shop.
2020-09-12 20:35
Damn didn't expect such detailed answer, thank you very much! You think I can buy a bike from Poland ? I live in like 200km away and can drive there and buy it there if it's cheaper, I have no idea about bike market and if there is a big price difference. I will take a look at my local bike store to see what's there first.
2020-09-12 20:41
I have a philosophy - there more people that ride the better the World is gonna be and that goes double for mountain biking :-) No idea if there is money to save on shopping in Poland, if you think you're fine with adjusting and fixing your bike you can shop everywhere otherwise better go with a local bike shop if it feels like a place where they know their stuff. I've bought gear all over ie. Denmark, Germany, UK and sometimes on eBay with out even looking at what country the seller was located. This brings us back to finding a local club or just other riders to exchange tips and all with. When starting out riding it is also a good idea to ride with someone, riding in terrain is not hard but riding well does call for a lot of technique. You can also find lots of tips on youtube.

I mentioned the "real hobbies", to which I devote a lot of time and money. I could add a lot more (e.g. listening to music, watching movies/tv series/anime, reading books, cycling, etc.), but I don't think it makes sense because I don't pay so much attention to these things.

- I try to play guitar from time to time, but haven't really had time for it lately. - I'm learning Greek on my free time so I guess you could call that a hobby. - I used to go airsofting with my friends, but can't really do that because of the corona situation (even tho its not that bad in Finland) - I play video games. - I listen to music a lot, but not sure if that counts?

I wouldn't count music if you don't play an instrument or are not djing or doing something else with music. Guitar is cool, keep practicing. Learning a language is always good. 7/10
