It wasn't the gameplay that got old with RE5, the level design and bosses were just dogshit, it had way too many turret sections and the co-op partner ruined everything. RE5 mercenaries, which is free of these issues, is still FUN because of the gameplay, the main game not so much.
Yes, it's an action horror game. But it's not a pure action game like Vanquish so it still has you encounter resource-drainer levels and enemies, and it builds tension with limiting controls like every horror game including RE2make. I play a lot of tps games, literally none of them even come close to how satisfying RE4 feels to play. just because you can't get good at the mechanics doesn't mean they're "broken".
It's pretty fun that you bring up RE7, because that game definitely has the worst and most barebones gameplay of all mainline RE games.
RE3make isn't worse than RE2make because it's action oriented, it's worse because it's an outsourced, rushed mess.
