FaZe Post-NiKo
 |
United Kingdom naica
It is interesting to see what is going to happen after NiKo goes to G2. I am saying he will go to G2 because Nexa is joking about it on Twitter, so it is more than likely the deal will go through. twitter.com/G2nexa/status/13070568458577.. So what will happen to FaZe. Here are my 3 scenarios. 1) Players Leave + New Roster (Cloud9 Restructure) Rain - May go to Cloud9 -> Still a quality entry fragger, just needs a good IGL Broky - May go to Cloud9 or Mousesports (could replace ChrisJ - IDK just a wild though) Kjearbye - 100% going to Retire Coldzera - I reckon FaZe may keep Cold, and build a team around him (Potentially bring in ex-MiBR, Fallen etc, idk If FaZe do make a new roster I reckon it will be a much more modest roster and try to build the team from the ground up instead up putting ex-Superstars into one team expecting instant chemistry and majors. I think OG is a good team that faZe may try to mimic. Reason being, FaZe have clearly spent way too much money building these super rosters, and they haven't paid off. Return of Olof? - who knows - highly unlikely i would say. 2) Only NiKo leaves and FaZe bring in a new IGL. Who would that person be? 3) All players leave - Disband - FaZe leave CS:GO

2) Only NiKo leaves and FaZe bring in a new IGL. Who would that person be? Hunden............wait
2020-09-18 23:06
But isnt hunden technically banned as coach so theoretically he could play? I know he is banned but if there was some weird loophole would be nice meme
2020-09-18 23:09
he is banned from all esl events, even as a player
2020-09-18 23:12
From ESL official statement: HUNDEN will receive a 12-month ban from playing or coaching in competition [in ESL and Dreamhack events]

NiKo has stated recently that he has never thought about leaving FaZe, only about how to make it better. Anyways iirc they signed a new contract mid-2020, so the buyout-clause is going to be substantial, and considering niko is valued as "un trade-able", I doubt FaZe are going to negotiate a lot. So your first point immediately becomes invalidated because there is such a small chance of the deal actually occurring.
2020-09-18 23:08
how do you know he signed a new contract?
2020-09-18 23:11
Because in 2019 , sources disclosed that FaZe's contracts were ending in mid-2020. They got an extension because they're still contractually playing under FaZe and during that time they were a top-3 team showing a lot of potential, therefore having no reason to decline due to the recent success and likely advancement.

If nexa is joking about it, it probably means nexa knows Niko is joining. Niko and nexa will obviously talk. Niko probably wants to leave as well. And the worst thing for an Org is to keep a player by force when they want to leave. So NiKo can pretty much ask FaZe to allow him to leave.
2020-09-18 23:13
Nexa is a troll... you really think that an overused lifeless joke tweeted by someone in G2 , confirms that NiKo is joining...? NiKo won't leave, he has stated many times he won't leave, and he still most likely believes that FaZe can progress in the future because of their "good"-run at the start of 2020. No way he is leaving, I am not even being subjective.

You really think he's serious?? Lmao
2020-09-20 05:35
G2 is rich org and Ocelote wants to have the best eSport org, so he needs a top1 team in csgo because having it in LOL is quite difficult for europe, they were close, but not there really. Plus you have to note that they spent literally nothing for Hunter and Nexa, so Niko would be his first investment since Amanek that was bought like year and a half and it was a low buyout. Niko is a big investment but they can do it for sure and they need a plus to start winning tournaments. I think that Niko wants to step down from Faze because everybody is throwing all the hate to him even he's one that did most efforts to make the team work, so even if they bring an IGL or whatever, it will be always his fault, if he change the team, he can hide and just focus on play and have fun that's what he wants. Plus, seeing this and his statement to do an interview with the truth, it sounds like he wanted a good IGL like Alex or something but the org said no.

NiKo's is "un-tradeable" so his buyout close is going to be something unbelievably ridiculous, because FaZe have no intention to sell him. We don't even know how many millions it could be. Anyways G2 esports last funding round got them (Dec 11, 2019) 10 Million USD. Considering that it's been 10 months since that , I doubt they are willing to spend a immense sum on NiKo. In the end NiKo is good friends with the owners of FaZe , so if he wants to terminate his contract then maybe faze would be willing to do it. But , I still can't see NiKo leaving. Yes, he wants to play with Hunter but I doubt he would want to purse that right now. Also iirc the only reason why ALEX declined FaZe was because of their hectic, restless schedule.

The HLTV article states both orgs have started talks, suggesting a potential deal is on the table. If he was "un-tradeable", there would be no discussion. Obviously there is a price for everything, and tbh I think even FaZe don't mind letting him go, because at the end of the day the team is performing like shit. Tbh, think NiKo has more potential on G2 than FaZe atm. Niko cant just ask to let him go, because thats dumb, FaZe obviously need to get something in return. NiKo is an asset to the org, terminating the contract is essentially like writing off an asset, with no gain.
2020-09-18 23:48
He is "un-tradeable" to FaZe. I am not stating that he is impossible to be sold, just that it required an immense sum. FaZe do mind letting him go because him and Coldzera are the most valuable part of the team and every knows that. Communication between two parties does not necessarily mean any progress in the deal is being made, it may just mean that they are initiating contact and discussing base numbers about the contract. And by terminating the contract, I mean that if NiKo seriously wants to leave, all parties can mutably agree on a sum to pay, so that FaZe don't complimentary give NiKo to g2. This is exactly like the Messi to Man city situation , except that we don't know if NiKo really wants to leave.

Of course we don't know. But from everything we see: 1) HLTV Article 2) NiKo's Cousin on G2 3) Nexa's Tweet about IGLing 4) Nexa's Tweet about knowing who woxic would replace on FaZe (probably NiKo) 5) All the backlash from fans/Thoorin about NiKo IGLing 6) Lost pretty much all the games in EPL with Kjearbye 7) FaZe spending a lot on salaries, for a team not producing anything FaZe could sell NiKo right now when he still is a decent player, and still get their initial investment and potentially more back, before he loses form and loses value. OFcourse this is all speculation, but form my perspective I just see NiKo leaving more likely.
2020-09-19 00:05
All the tweets produced by Nexa are nominal to this situation. Tbh, Carlos' tweet calling faze "a bunch of clowns" probably imply frustration due to them not negotiating for niko or just be adamant about being niko being "un-tradeable". Many top teams spend a lot of salaries, FaZe thus far in 2020 have an average placing of 5th at tournaments. Sure, not the best but not the worst, can't see salaries being an issue, especially since they received 40 M USD in series A funding in April of 2020. TBH from everything I have seen, It is very unlikely for G2 to acquire NiKo, but I understand where you're coming from and why you think it may be a likely possibility.
2020-09-19 00:37
The little difference here is that City didn't want to pay enough for Messi and he's gonna be free in one year but it looks like G2 wants to pay for Niko even if it's the biggest buyout on csgo history. Ocelote's team is smart and if he wants to do it, is because he knows he'll get the money on return with the popularity they will win. I understand the "untradable" thing, but the reality is they are spending a lot on a csgo team and getting nothing in return, not even average results, so at the end of the day, Faze needs to make money too.
2020-09-19 00:28
I don't think G2 are willing to pay an immense sum for NiKo regardless of how good he is and the synergy between him and Hunter. Because it is that great, you got to be realistic and decide whether spending such a sum would be financially beneficial , especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. For top CSGO teams , they are unprofitable, if they get extremely lucky and produce outstanding results they can break even, but that is a big if. FaZe , thus far in 2020 have an average placing of 5th at tournaments. Sure, not the best but not the worst, can't see salaries being an issue, especially since they received 40 M USD in series A funding in April of 2020. Did you not see the deal value of ALEX to C9, and you think they will make a profit with just him let alone 4 other players. If teams are in CS:GO they are not there for the money, otherwise they wouldn't be in it. I see where you are coming from but even in an idealist scenario is just doesn't seem likely.
2020-09-19 00:44
Rumoured buyout for Cold was $1M and it was the top sum payed, I don't think Niko will cost more than 1,5 or 2M and that's doable for G2. Teams needs to create profit one day or another, or the investors will run away with the money. If they can do those rounds and get all that money from them, is because people like Ocelote, sells that in 10 years his organization will be around $1 billion because of the exponential growth of the esports market and a lot of people is trying to get into the business even without knowing how to turn on a computer. So it's obvious that one day this will explode in one way or the other, but until then rich teams can perform this kind of investments because at the end of the day, even if they pay $2M for Niko, he's still young and there's no reason to think that he will cost less (if they want to sell) next year.
2020-09-19 00:54
Thing is we don't know much NiKo will cost. My opinion will change once I see his buy-out clause. I think it might be somewhere around 3million+

Highly doubt Niko will be leaving FaZe anytime soon and you've stated really strong arguments above to prove why such thing won't most likely happen. I can almost guarantee that if Niko left FaZe, it would cost G2 about 3M$ just to get his pass. And although G2 is not poor-poor, they are far from being the richest esport org in. Just look at FaZe for example, those guys are one of the richest orgs in existence, and months ago when they were showing interest in buying Coldzera from MIBR, FaZe wasn't so sure about paying 1M$ for a single player, and they only did it because some players from their CSGO rooster (Niko is one of them and most probably Rain aswell) and some CEO's (Temperrr, Teeqo and probably Banks) gave up some of their pocket money to buy his pass. And trust me, for FaZe as an org, 1M$ for them is absolutely nothing. I can't imagine G2 to be willing to pay 3M$ or more for a single player, not even if they followed the same tactic FaZe used to acquire Coldzera's pass.
2020-09-20 06:10

i might agree with rain to c9 but not broky (because i think c9 will sign acoR) he is extremly good with awp. The rest of C9 rooster i actually have no ideia. I dont think mouse will do any changes soon. The ideia of building a rooster arround cold is not a bad ideia, but i dont think cold would be motivated to play with ex teammates, who knows?! What happens with olof and his contract? Or actually i could see rain and niko going to G2 replacing amanek and jackz. but i dont think so. if the moove is just niko -> G2, i would love to see them picking Fallen to IGL faze.

I agree with you about rain and broky, but along with that, if C9 actually sign acoR, then mad lions would probably sign kjaerbye since I don't see North making that many changes. I think Olof would probably just announce a real retirement or get signed by an org like North. Personally, I would like to see Olof join North in place of cajunb since cajunb has underperformed massively since returning to North and I would love to see Olof reunited with Lekr0 as father and son on North. For cold, I don't know where he could go, at best he could return to BR CS under MIBR with, ideally, kNgV-. trk, boltz, and felps.

It seems like it, they've invested over $2 million, probably closer to 3 or 4 million in reality, and what have they got out of it? A few IEM and ESL One trophies, not even a major or a grand slam. They have no reason to stay in CS, their gambling site was shut down so the roster they currently have is definitely losing them money.

Sticker sales. Idk how much revenue this generates for an org but i know a percentage of sales of stickers go to the org. Similar to shirt sales in football, stickers could bring in some revenue especially when you have so many superstars on your team who have their own fanbases, wanting these stickers. FaZe being mainstream, there is always going to be demand for FaZe stickers, therefore revenue for the org. So could be a reason to stay in the game. Idk- this maybe completely wrong, just some analysis. TBH 3-4$ million isn't a lot for FaZe. One of the biggest mainstream organisations. They kill it on YouTube, have so many sponsors. So many revenue streams. In terms of it being a dead investment, it could be seen as bad though.

Sometimes its better to get out the whole, before you dig the whole too deep. I think 1st option is best for them. And i think Niko in G2 is very possible, G2 only needs money to buy him from Faze. Niko told many times that he really hopes he will play with Hunter together in future. +there is Nexa, ex teammate, friend. So from his side he would go to G2 for sure, G2 players would for sure also want him, Faze is in problems i think they would sell him easily, its only about G2 having money to buy him from Faze

They would never in a million years. 1) Good IGL's are rare af right now. 2) He has been a successful IGL. 3) Who would IGL if he leaves (certainly not NiKo).

NiKo will stay..

if faze can get decent igl then its win win for both g2 and faze. faze dont lack firepower even if niko leaves..al they lack is communication and structure imo. so igl can improve this and faze can be top contender easily. g2 niko will be such hype move considering it will increase g2's firepower by lot.with nexa getting great player around as lurk ig?

2) With NiKo's sale, they can afford a proper buy, let's recall: 1. MSL can complete that IGL+AWPer slot that this team is missing. 2. Jerry is a very competent IGL atm and I don't see a reason why he cannot be in the team. 3. AmaNEk can easily IGL if the swap players with G2, good buy tbh. 4. They can do 3. and pick one of those IGL or another one too. (prob. coldzera or rain leaving)
