So i am buying a laptop for programming purposes and maybe light gaming something like WoW once in a while. Any recommendations? Must have SSD, 8gb ram minimum preferably 16gb, a very good CPU and i dont really care about GPU. Badget 1000-3000$ depends how worth it is and how much it is gonna last.

best of all, make an approximate config and go pick up a laptop that will match in the store this. I can't advice what exactly you should buy bcuz i know nothing about market in Grecce. And you should know for example exactly the same IPS screens on paper in 2 laptops can shows absolutely different image bcoz they can come from different manufacturers. ANd most of the times you cant check online about dual?single memory channel and some other important things

screen backlight uniformity, dual channel memory, how good its assembled and how cheap materials are. And ofc its based alot on your tasks, you can need some amount of outputs/inputs etc.

At the moment i am between mbp 13 or 16 lenovo thinkpad T14 r7 and hp omen 15 2020 what do you think is the best choice?
2020-09-21 01:17
Just get Thinkpad T14, cpu r7 4750u 8/16. It has best build quality on par with macbook. And those who advice to buy laptop looking only at specs has no clue :D Last thing get full hd, it's must when typing many text.

Already checked that out. Its pretty cool. Do you think i should get this over mbp 16 or 13 ?
2020-09-21 01:15
At this point it's more preference you want macos or windows/linux. 16:10 aspect ratio on mac is better for programming due bigger vertical length, but not a huge difference. If you are more into web programming mac could be better option. You can google about this mac is kinda more "optimized" for this then windows. But i like windows more so i vote for thinkpad. Also don't buy gaming laptop for this, it will be hot, noisy, heavy and gpu does not matter for programming anyway.

Thank you. There are A LOT of thinkpads tho you think this is the best in my case?
2020-09-21 01:57
I'm a programmer too. The laptop you buy should have good design, should be lightweight, and should work quietly. It should have a 10th generation i7 Intel processor and it is a plus if it has a gaming graphic card like gtx1650.

And the rest are the macbook pro 16 and 13 the cheapest 16 of late 2019 and 2020 13 with 16gb version and 512gb ssd
2020-09-21 01:46
If my intention to use the laptop for business. I would definitely buy thinkpad. Because it is designed for business purposes. it has stability, It probably give you less problems, your battery would survive more because that hp laptop has 45W processor + graphic card while thinkpad has 15W processor so basically hp laptop consume more power.

What about thinkpad vs macbook pro 16? Also thank you very much for your effort
2020-09-21 02:20
man i mean if you are a programmer you should be very good at googling. It doesn't so hard to compare computer specs on the internet. you can also watch reviews on youtube from people who bought that laptop. What i can tell about apple is they look really beautiful I really love their design but as a programmer you should also consider their performance. For me , performance > Look.

you still doing the same thing. If you typed Ryzen 7 4750u vs intel i7 10510U on google you would get the results. notebookcheck.net/R7-4700U-vs-i7-10510U_.. cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core..

cool last thing :P . there are 2 different t14. The T14 and T14s with exactly same specs. i Found this reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/hkf129/di.. and maybe T14s is a bit better. whats your opinion? And lastly is It going to run light games without ultra heating?
2020-09-21 03:17
I have no idea you gotta look up yourself . But if you not sure you gonna spent your time playing game on laptop you should consider gaming ones.

Why? Macbooks have premium quality and they can last for more than 5 years
2020-09-21 01:58
LOL if you actually believe that then go ahead and buy a macbook with a shitty keyboard and it cooks itself to death because their braindead "engineers" didn't connect the heatsink to the fan, not my money you'd be wasting

Cool and a last question why amd over intel on the laptop?
2020-09-21 02:13
this generation's AMD mobile processors are more power efficient (=better battery life and doesn't get as hot) and also intel recently has a bad track record of having hardware-level security problems and the fixes for them kill their performance

Dell XPS 15 or gaming laptop
2020-09-21 04:30
The most important are thermal features. I'd suggest Alienware or Razer Blade. Don't recommend the last-gen Zephyrus series because it is getting really hot under even 80% pressure (i7 8750H, gtx 1070) Perhaps, the new models are better idk
