i think andrew yang was best possible us president now all they got is demented pedophiles
2020-09-21 11:55
Yang believes that women get paid less for the same work. A candidate that believes myths is not a good candidate.

yang wouldnt have even had a chance. tulsi gabbard wouldve at least had a chance against trump.
2020-09-21 19:00
Shes not far left enough for the democratic party
2020-09-22 06:30
biden is a centrist shill kekw
2020-09-22 06:55
Biden is a vegetable being controlled by far left communists
2020-09-22 07:31
i arent think that
2020-09-22 07:32
You don't agree that Biden is being controlled or you dont think the people controlling him are communists
2020-09-22 07:36
there definitely arent communists controlling him considering the dems basically blocked bernie 2 elections in a row because he was too radical and completely slandered tulsi for trying to take on the military industrial complex. If bernie is too radical for your "communists", i highly doubt they're communists. The dems are neo-liberal imperialists, just like the republicans.
2020-09-22 07:41
holy yikes
2020-09-22 07:56
look at bidens political compass results. he is almost as far right as trump, he isnt even near being a leftist
2020-09-22 22:12
They can't nominate a far left candidate because they won't get in votes, that's why the democratic party rigged the nomination against Bernie. Biden, however, is a vegetable that can be easily controlled or step down completely for far left candidates to take over without a vote. Biden is farther right than Trump btw, he's just changed his stance on literally everything so he could be Obama's VP. Dude was literally an outspoken racist in the 80s lol
2020-09-24 03:30
Are there any dem leadership contenders that DIDN'T believe that Or are at least willing to pretend they do
2020-09-22 06:36
I would wager that Biden does not. He may currently say that he does, but Obama clearly did not, as he did not address the 'issue', when he was the president.

Andrew Yang decided to endorse Joe Biden when he pulled out of the election, well before anything was decided in the convention. He betrayed everything he stood for, so why would anyone think he would have been a good president?

2020-09-21 11:56
what happened to yang tho? he wasnt doing that bad in 2016 from what ive seen but then literally disappeared clinton with her tricks again?
2020-09-21 12:33
lobbies didn't want a politician with an actual brain to lead america i guess
2020-09-21 12:40
No knowledge of economics at all(Seems to be very common with leftists), but other than that he was pretty good tbh
2020-09-22 06:31
He was not popular, especially among old people. And young voters were divided between Bernie and him. He'll run for president again in 2024

Fake and phony for going against anything he campaigned for to gain political power..?
2020-09-21 12:53
He campaigned for basic income, but he always been righter than Warren and Sanders Most of centrists and moderate rightists liked Yang, even Dave Rubin interviewed him Not following your political believes doesn't make anyone "fake" and "phony"

Every single one of his policies leaned towards the left, both in terms of the climate, gun control, drugs and wages.. and he even leaned towards expanding health care and investing to make it less expensive. Sure, he might not have as left-leaning as either Warren or Sanders, but if you're saying that Joe Biden's policies are closer to his campaign then you haven't got a damn clue. He betrayed his core centrist voters.
2020-09-21 13:03
> edition.cnn.com/2020/03/10/politics/andr.. > Urging the Democrats to shift their focus now to defeating the President, Yang credited Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont as "an inspiration" but said "the math says Joe is our prohibitive nominee." > "We need to bring the party together. We need to start working on defeating Donald Trump in the fall," he said. I see the reason why Yang endorsed Biden, and it was actually reasonable at that time. Your point about Yang being "fake" and "phony" is childish. Sorry, but the world doesn't revolve around your believes and feelings.
2020-09-21 13:20
I think the reason people on the right seem to like Yang (as well as someone like Tulsi Gabbard) is that they're not really run-of-the-mill Democrats. They're not part of the elite inner circle of the Democratic party (in fact they were both ignored by the mainstream media for much of the Democrat primaries), and they're willing to talk and share a forum / ideas with people on the right instead of calling them bigots or having some sort of moral superiority complex. Shapiro has interviewed Yang as well. That's not to say people on the right agree with them; most if not all people on the right are not a fan of Universal Basic Income, but they're up for the conversation of ideas. Yang was also successful before he went into politics and actually seems like a fairly nice dude.

"Rasmussen, which is considered a polling organization that is friendly to the president, gave Trump a 42 per cent approval rating and a 55 per cent disapproval rating on June 29 - an all-time low." One poll of friends of Trump, vs the dozens I linked, including this very poll. Go figure who's less biased.

at this point sites are either towards dems or republicans, i think it's hard to find a site with real numbers not prefering trump or biden
2020-09-21 13:00
That's why the sum of all them, including the one you linked, is probably better. Which end with only 42% approval for Trump. Anyway, the ultimate poll is the vote for the election. So we just have to wait and see.
2020-09-21 13:06
Rasmussen was the only one that got 2016 polling right so it's foolish not to lend them slightly more than average credibility. Even more broadly than that, if you actually look at the polling base, you'll see that they average 10% independent input in most of the polls. They should have 35% or so, which dramatically skews things. And if you look at the last 20 or so years, Republicans average around 33% independents in election voting. We'll see who shows up to vote but if it's 30% independents for Trump I don't see how any of this polling except for Rasmussen is accurate.
2020-09-22 07:30
No Rasmussen was not the only one that got 2016 right. They predicted a 1.7% lead for Donald Trump, while the result gave 2.1% lead for Clinton. They were in fact more wrong than at least 12 other polling institute/media. That's why, in #47 and bellow, talking about statistics with a fellow user, I say their polling sample (but same apply to most polls in the US) is too low, because to be accurate, they should made polls state by states due to your grand electors things, which also explain why a popular vote lose a candidate can win the election).

evenb ur source shows rasssmusen reports with 52%
2020-09-21 14:13
That's exactly what I said. If you throw a dice and it hit 6, you can't claim dices always make a 6. That's why average exist. With dice the average is 3.5 if I'm not mistaking. With recent Trump's aproval it is 42%.

sample size of 1500 is big but oke ... im sure u studied statistics and my math profs opinion on that one is worth squad
2020-09-21 16:32
I do indeed know a bit about statistics since I worked for french government and most decision are based on it. Since your comment is obviously a troll, I won't explain to you how statistics work, since you have a teacher apparently. No, 1500 is not much regarding a poll on US President approval.

equation for unknown pop./huge pop= USA) n (sample size)=z²*p(1-p)/e z=1,96 p=0,5* e=0,01 ; 0,02 ; 0,03 n=9604 / 2400 / 1070 so with an error margin of 3% u need 1000 participants and with 1500 participants u have about 2,5% error margin which is not 42% for Trump but rather between 49,5% and 54,5% but sure u know it all P.S. *(default deviation) is rather 1/3 cuz of 3 candidates (ofc those 3rd parties dont get much so its probably about 40-45% default deviation and not 50% which would make "n" even smaller (~10%)
2020-09-21 18:21
There is no third party mate, it is not about Trump vs the world, it is Trump's approval rate. So your numbers are correct. Yet, you can't use the basic sample equation since it applies only to randomly chosen participants. as this institute said themselves (and it is the case all polling institute) participant are not randomly chosen. Hence the post calculation corrections.

but its just yay trump nay trump or isnt it?
2020-09-21 18:48
In their poll they have 5 choices : full yay, moderate yay (the sum of which we are talking now), full nay, moderate nay and who cars. And you and your teacher should know that 30 people answering for a population of 640000 do not give 2.5% margin, but more like 15%. That's why this 1500 total sample for a 320 millions people is very little if you want to use it as a election indicator in the US, since it is a state by state election. Not even taking into account the participant selections.

"After the 2010 midterm elections, Silver concluded that Rasmussen's polls were the least accurate of the major pollsters in 2010, having an average error of 5.8 points and a pro-Republican bias of 3.9 points according to Silver's model." Also, DailyMail.. XD
2020-09-21 12:57
> Nate Silver is the CEO of FiveThirtyEight > "As early as June 2015, FiveThirtyEight argued that Donald Trump "isn't a real candidate" and, until late in the election season, maintained that Trump could not win the nomination. When Donald Trump became the presumptive Republican nominee in May 2016, New York Times media columnist Jim Rutenberg wrote that "predictions can have consequences" and criticized FiveThirtyEight for underestimating Trump's chances." > "On the eve of the 2016 election, the site's forecast gave Hillary Clinton a 71% chance of winning and Donald Trump a 29% chance" Imagine criticizing accuracy of a poll organization by citing the CEO of FiveThirtyEight... It's like criticizing Trump for talking nonsense while endorsing Biden.

Late reply but when (I forgot what president) taxed the rich in the 80s a bunch of them left the country and moved there businesses to other countries where it was cheaper and they weren't taxed as heavily The same thing was happening pre 2016 and tons of jobs were moving elsewhere to escape the 35% taxrate. Trump reduced it to 15 or 20% and it brought it a bunch of jobs Not to mention the 1% already pay more than half of the taxes in the US TLDR if you tax the rich/ job providers too much there going to leave
2020-09-22 22:08
yeah you are assuming that taxes on the wealthy/corporations would be increased and the current regulatory status of the market in the US would remain the same. obviously regulations would increase, making it harder for US based businesses to outsource their labor and manufacturing to other countries in order to get tax cuts. Similarly, they would probably make it difficult to impossible to move funds to tax havens, as the majority of profits in the US are done right now. so sure, if all that happened was the increasing of taxes, maybe. but "taxing the rich" implies also adding some sort of enforcement that requires them to actually pay their taxes instead of using loop holes to get out of it
