Ryzen or Intel
RAiLWAY |
Sweden I_like_trains
Yes I know this has been discussed before. But, I am planning to build a new PC when the 3080 is back in stock. I know that Intel is better for gaming, but a Ryzen 9 with 12 cores seems like a very good deal. Would you say it's more worth buying a Ryzen 9 over an Intel i7 even if I only game? The 3900x is just slightly more expensive than the i7 10700k

ye go buy process with 2 ccx and low inter proccess speed LUL what a noob only intel
2020-09-25 20:35
ye let's forget about 32 mb cache which decreases "inter process" communication LUL what a noob the only Intel's advantage is ability to reach 5 ghz if you need that +10% performance and think it's worth it, then sure go for Intel. though I think new Zen 3 will be better than any 5ghz i7/i9. P.S. and bad news for Intel fans: anandtech.com/show/16021/intel-moving-to..

try to cry, cuz 3600-3900 still sucking, above all, amd price in russia is too high. now we see the transformation of the corporation into true evil, but u can continue to write nonsense, cuz u are a brainless fan, such guys I usually send to ***.
2020-10-11 07:01
Why would I cry? I have 2 PC at home, Intel and AMD. Bought my 3600x long time ago when the price was fine, performance is more than enough for any of my tasks, so I couldn't care less if it's worse or better than any other CPU. As for "transformation of the corporation", I have never been under the illusion that AMD is a charity organization. You're the one here write nonsense that has anything to do with my original post and act like a brainless fan.
2020-10-11 07:16
lets put the question differently. which is better, 3600, 3700, 3800 or 10700?
2020-10-11 07:31
No, I'll ask again: what does this have to do with my original post? Argue against any of my points in #90 or GTFO.

A) 'don't need to prove anything' yet demands photohraphic proof of anyone having a decent system B) I have stated that while for the top-end gaming, Intel provided cca 5-10% higher FPS at 1080p, for the general user, going with AMD would provide pretty much the same performance at potentionally lower budget. That si pretty much what the data available online states, and it is also a stance similar to that of most of the prominent Tech YouTube channels and such. C) No need to explain the word debil, it is used quite often in the czech language, and unlike you, I am not fakeflagging

his dolbaeb, dont be so hard on him. amd 5900 as a winner over 10900k 5-10% (but need to wait for real tests from people), in another segment in previous generations amd is not a rival to Intel, especially in gaming.

People who want the most FPS in games and don't give a fuck about the multi-processing shit AMD fanboys keep jabbering about? Lmao.
2020-09-25 20:41
I can straight up admit I am more of an amd fanboy but there is no denying that intel is pretty much always a better gaming cpu unless you are on budget. And if he has money for 3080 then he probably should get 10900k or 10700k for gaming.
2020-09-25 20:49
Tbf at that price class its just gonna be personal preference, ull never need the 5 extra fps intel can give u and unless u want a powerhouse workstation u wont need all the multitasking multicores amd gives u... At lower prices id always recommend amd cz its just better over all but at S tier and S+ tier it doesnt really matter unless u want a Workstation
2020-09-26 12:36
Yeah, you cant go wrong with amd.
2020-09-29 08:50
I mean tbf i have some problems, especially with graphics drivers sometimes And problems with csgo but i blame that on the game since i dont have any problems anywhere else, pc is is superfast and smooth, really food for its price imo. Dont regret buying amd products at all

0/8 115 110 105 on intel benchmarks i5 10600k 95 110 110 on Ryzen benchmarks Ryzen 3800x Literally tested them both. Intel is so fking much better at gaming and less warm

idk why you're comparing the i5 with the r7 considering gaming preformace doesn't differ much between chips, but those numbers are barely different, the intel chips are a good 6 months newer than the amd ones, and obviously amd is coming out with a new gen in around a month...
2020-09-25 20:39
cuz I tested both of these and decided to sell the this shit from ryzen away as fast as possible after testing them in games and games with stream on. Nvidia+intel <3 Never ever AMD again since I am not even rendering, just coding and intel does the best work for me

so you're comparing them using user benchmark? well know heavily intel biased program? lmao
2020-09-25 20:45
Yeah, but I also tested them myself in games: cs:go, rdr2, tarkov (especially tarkov shows difference, cuz the game is not 100% optimized yet) Intel has higher fps andwas 5-10 degrees colder in my tests Sure Ryzen is good if you are planing to run a lot of program at once, but the main thing that I dislike that this "little man computer" in Ryzen has a lot of stamina, but very low pace

No one takes user benchmark seriously, but the numbers do make sense. But you are taking one of the best, fastest commercially available CPUs as a comparison. It came out months after Ryzen's CPU and still barely gives a performance jump. Ryzen is routinely releasing new CPUs at the same price with massive gains against Intel. Going past 1080p intel 2k and 4k Ryzen closes in much faster, and with more and more games leveraging higher core counts Ryzen will end up taking a real strong lead. Unless of course Intel pulls it's finger out of it's ass.

It depends on the resolution you play in. In 1080p (where a 3080 would be insanely overkill) intel has a lead of about 7% in games, but as you turn up the resolution to 1440p and beyond the difference becomes basically negligible, especially at 4k where a r5 3600 has basically the same performance as an i9 10900k. So really the decision is up to you. I'd go for a higher core count ryzen because games will most likely start leveraging higher core counts as game engines for the new consoles take advantage of more cores
2020-09-25 20:31
Yes. I'm planning to play in 1440p. Will probably go with Ryzen, hopefully 4th gen will be even better.

If you are planning to game on qhd(or higher) i'd say go for ryzen. New ones are coming up be sure to check them out first. Games tend to be less CPU demanding when they are running on higher res (Lower framerates = less work for CPU || Higher resolution = more work for GPU). So that way you can also enjoy better workflow on the productivity side (which is a advantage that ryzen has over intel) while getting same amounts of frames. Also having a amd will give you too many cheaper options on motherboards side. You can choose a relatively cheap motherboard for your sistem if you are running on a budget. If you are planning on upgrading GPU go for 3080 it has a very nice performance leap compared to pre-gens. You might consider getting a 32gig ram if you are doing things that might exceed on ram. I currently own a 3900x and can say that i'm happy with it.

2020-09-25 20:56
On October 6th AMD will present their next Ryzen generation. Little is know however the few indicators there is out there has many seeing a possible 20% jump in performance - if so then that answers your question since then AMD is gonna be ahead in gaming, with multi-core while still being the better price-performance deal and more energy efficient. Plus there is PCI x4 and the AMD tradition of supporting their chipset for longer, this compared to Intel where every new "generation" aka. face lift means needing a new board. Now full disclosure I picked AMD this summer, getting a Ryzen 3600 with the plan of passing it along when the new Ryzen generation comes. However seeing that even with a 3080 the difference between the fastest Intel and my 3600 is 3% or when gaming in 4K has me wondering, maybe I'll just stay with the 3600 by now as I do all my gaming in 4K. The 3600 is a 65 watt part and my rig runs so quiet as it allows me to run all fans except the GPU at just 350 rpm. Also not sure a 3080 is the way to go, the next gen from AMD is coming late October and seeing how clever their stuff is in the PS5 has me wondering what they can do on PC. They may bring a contender.
2020-09-25 21:01
Ryzen big navi will probably be better than 3080 as well
2020-09-25 21:03

2020-09-26 13:31
up to 5fps difference for same price 4 more cores and 8 threads best deal ever buying intel intel is for you, you are obviously totally retarded
2020-09-26 13:45
Another thing is they don't crash like AMD, well I don't know about the latest Ryzen but historically AMD has been a lot more unstable.

Either wait for the new Ryzen 5000 Cpus or if you cant wait buy a R5 3600 with a good X570 Mothetboard and upgrade then to the next gen CPU's.

Gamers: People on tight or semi tight budget = Ryzen Others = Intel. This only works if only use your PC for gaming.

I would tell you to wait till the end of October because there will be new ryzen and also new gpu from amd which could obviously step up just like their processors.
2020-09-26 10:27
Zen3 coming next month. If current cutting edge zen2 is within around ten percent margin close to fully 5+GHz overclocked Intel CPUs, then zen3 might just catch up to everything with Intel.
2020-09-26 10:32
Currently AMD is about 10% behind in gaming performance mostly due latency but upcoming Zen 3 will very likely at the very least match but highly likely even surpass Intel by a few %. I expect in the lines of 13~15% average increase compared to now for gaming (3~5% average ahead of Intel) due slight increase in clock speed and improved latency. If you must buy now I'd say 10700K is still a decent gaming CPU (I don't recommend spending extra on the 10900K if only used for gaming). Zen 3 CPUs coming in about a month's time probably, I'd say it's worth the wait, you should get performance number slightly before that probably.

for games ofc Intel. AMD = marketing (faky 7nm + weak cores)

right now I'd say Intel, but the new Ryzen 4000 coming out in October could change that. I currently have a 10850k and overclocked it is a beast

today is 2020 and AMD still not reach 7700k in games! reached only in 4k where GPU is bottleneck. but a lot of marketing everywhere about AMD. true is faky 7nm and weak cores.
2020-09-26 12:35
"reached only in 4K " Lol man are you for real ?
2020-09-26 12:37
Ryzen and its not even close except if all you do on your PC is playing games and ONLY a specific game like CSgo or something and thats only to aim for 10-15 fps more. Naah, ill pass. Ryzen all the way
2020-09-26 12:36
If you don't need more than 8 cores then go for Intel. But better wait for Zen 3 and then decide.
2020-09-26 12:37
Everyone will need 8 core in the next year or two. Next-gen games will be based on PS5/Xbox X hardware which are 8-core
2020-09-26 12:39
i7-10700k is 8/16.
2020-09-26 12:39
When cores matter AMD > INTEL
2020-09-26 13:21
That's why I said to go for Intel only if he doesn't need more than 8 cores. But I wouldn't buy anything now, better wait for Zen 3 and then decide.

AMD motherboards have PCI-E Gen 4.0 while Intel have 3.0 and are cheaper than Intel MoBo's If you dont care about $ and ONLY need it for video games go for Intel, otherwise go for AMD
2020-09-26 12:42
I’d take AMD over Intel any day. Saving money for negligible performance gaps is a win.

had amd processors including ryzen for the last 6-7 years and not one problem

People keep saying intel is better for gaming. I just wanna know if you have like 10 programs running in the background, you are playing music from youtube and streaming is ryzen now a better gaming CPU? Like when people do benchmarks I assume they have the game running and ONLY the game. But that's not how people use their PC. Is core count relevant or is it more to do with mHz and RAM when you run discord, spotify and shit?
2020-09-26 13:54
intel is fucking shit bro

2020-09-29 09:31
Ryzen for Meerkats ofc.
2020-10-11 05:13
Got a Ryzen 3900x a little over a month ago for $420. Haven't regretted it since. Amazing CPU. If I were you though, I would wait a bit because AMD is coming out with new 5000 CPUs this month or something.

2020-10-11 08:26
Get a new 5000 Ryzen. Better than 10900k.
2020-10-11 08:46
Ryzen for sure cheaper and overall better
2020-10-11 08:51
Ryzen is cheap so I kinda need it 3rd world xd
2020-10-11 09:07
I think amd ryzen better than Intel
2020-10-11 09:34
New Ryzen are better for gaming than Intel, but the upcoming Rocket Lake from Intel is going to be faster than new Ryzens, you decide :)
2020-10-11 09:37
Ryzen nowadays much better.
2020-10-11 09:41
Wait for the Ryzen 5000 series to drop on november 5th, it will be better than both 3rd gen and Intel 10th gen in pretty much every aspect.
2020-10-11 09:53
Why intel fangays can't just accept AMD is better nowadays ?

amd if you are poor
2020-10-11 10:11
Ryzen is much cheaper for the same performance Intel wins out in performance only at the very upper end so if you want to spend $700 on a cpu, go with intel for the most performance, but the new zen3 ryzen cpus are also very good, just wait until then
2020-10-11 20:25
Just wait for the new 5XXX series Ryzens and get an 8c16t and ur set bby. Sucks that my B350 mobo wont get another bios update for the new cpus but such is life i suppose :()
2020-10-11 20:25
ryzen 5XXXX november 5th wait for it much better then intel especially if you do anything other then game as well. Rocket lake is gonna be another 14+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ cpu.

bruh i bought a 3600x before and idk why would anyone ask for more in gaming. getting stable 300 fps and like 400/500+ on some spots on maps in CS.
2020-10-11 20:36

Ryzen 5900x is almost there. Will be the best CPU for gaming and work.
2020-10-11 20:51
So you're waiting for 3080 but not for zen 3? Huh? There shouldn't even be a question what to do now for new builds.
