Have the coaches to pay some compensation to their Orgs or to the tournaments the cheated on?? To ban someone is one thing but to pay for that should be normal. Betters lost money. Teams lost qualifiers and tournaments and prizemoney cuz of that.

Are you braindead? They should have banned some of the coaches for life but that doesn't mean braindead bettors like you should get a compensation

How would they calculate the amount that the coaches owe? A lot of the guys on that list apparently only used the bug for 1 single round, how bad is that really and what kind of a fine would be worthwhile for something like that?
2020-09-28 11:43
they shouldn't calculate it perfect. Just make a fine for what potential prizemoney was in the tournament and at what stage they cheated. As example, an ESL Cologne qualifier would be a 5000€ fine
2020-09-28 11:47
I guess but I doubt that they will do that, I think they will be satisfied with just banning people. The ibp-guys didn't have to pay anything back right? They just got banned?
2020-09-28 11:49
IBP was 2014 times change and there is more and more money in the line. So the punishment should finally come to the real world.
2020-09-28 11:50
What do they do in other sports? If Usain Bolt was caught in doping-scandal, would he have to pay back his winnings or just return his medals? I assume ESIC look at other sports and see what they do about cheating.
2020-09-28 11:53
Armstrong had to pay Millions back. Ulrich the same. Both got caught cheating. They got sued by their sponsors and by the TOs.
2020-09-28 11:55
Aah ok but I guess someone (like an organization) have to sue, otherwise the coaches are free to go? Seems that way since nobody have mentioned any potential fines yet. Maybe ESIC will say something in their full report.
2020-09-28 11:57
ESL could do the fine when the coaches start again in a team. Just take 5% of the prizemoney. When a team hire these coaches they agree to it. That is the easiest way.

One million american dollars.

You will never catch me alive! Ninja vanish! POOF! *gone*
2020-09-28 11:58
Unless there is a clause specifically in the contract(which I doubt there is), there is nothing one can do
2020-09-28 11:44
Valve could sue them. For damaging the reputation of the game. Also TOs can. ESL has a fair play rule in their rules. They could demand the prizemoney back
2020-09-28 11:49
Valve can't sue them because the bug is valve's fault lul
2020-09-28 11:50
ofc they can. The coaches abused the bug. Cheats works in the same way they abuse bugs of the game. And you can sue someone for using a cheat.
2020-09-28 11:51
Never heard of someone getting sued for abusing a bug or cheating
2020-09-28 11:53
then google on pubg and Blizzard.
2020-09-28 11:56
maybe for the prize money, but i doubt anyone cares enough to go through all this legal trouble for what amounts to very little to no benefit
2020-09-28 11:52
depends in which country you have to sue them. In the USA it would be expensive in Germany you don't need so much.
2020-09-28 11:54
Most of these competitions were for very little money in the first place, and then the coach only gets at max 1/6 of that prize money. It amounts to nothing, and it is just not worth the hassle
2020-09-28 11:56
a more easy way is to make the cut at the next tournaments for the teams/orgs or the coaches personally.
2020-09-28 11:57
But most of these coaches cheated in orgs other than the ones they are right now, so that would be kind of unfair. Also some of these are from ECS which doesn't exist anymore.
2020-09-28 11:59
If a team hire a banned coach they agree to pay that fine in this way.
2020-09-28 12:00
But a the time they hired them they weren't banned.
2020-09-28 12:00
I talk about the future. And if a banned coach stays in the ORG it is the same.
2020-09-28 12:02
I don't think that would be okay to do. If I hire someone, why am I suddenly obliged to pay all their debts from a previous job? That's just not how it works
2020-09-28 12:03
then they can decide % prizemoney or let the coach pay with his own money. And yes that is sth that happens in the real world. When you want a license back etc you have also to pay money.
2020-09-28 12:07
There is no license to be a csgo coach so I don't see why this would be relevant.
2020-09-28 13:00
The example with the license is just an example. You can also say that banned coaches have to pay for the reason that the TOs accept their work again during their tournaments. If you stick by the license then you don't understand the point.
2020-09-28 13:02
Well they could do that, but it is not part of their rules so that's a very arbitrary thing to do and doesn't look very professional in my opinion
2020-09-28 15:10
I'm glad bettors lost money, fuck em
2020-09-28 11:50
maybe: I didn't bet at that time. I only do now some low bets with 1€ or sth like that.

Maybe some prize money repay up 20% (heroic decides to return 100% of one tournament they played)

Betting is the only reason this game is still relevant so yes I agree

u really underestimate humans when it comes to money. if u find a way to cheat and make hundred thousands of dollars without getting caught, u will use it. why u think up to this day every year they ban 1000 way of doping for the tour de france and yet people still find ways to dope. thats why im 100% certain there is also real cheating goin on in top tier CSGO. i mean we live in an age where u have programms that can find u everywhere in the whole world just from ur mirror image, and u really think they cant program a humanized aimbot into someones hardware? think again.
